Chapter 1
Waking up alone isn't really what most people want when you're taken to a strange place, but it still happened. So here she was, though she doesn't know who she is. Anyways she woke up surrounded by other kids, playing, laughing, screaming. There was a pretty woman above her, the woman seemed sweet at least from what the little girl could tell. And usually she was right, it was almost as though she could feel people's emotions. But that was impossible, right? It was just little kids ability to tell who seemed safe or not. The lady picked her up and carried her to a desk, her wrists were wrapped up like she got hurt doing something. Which would make sense, she didn't have the best coordination. She listened to the four people around her. The lady that picked her up, another sweet looking lady, a man, and a little boy about her age. "She has some balance issues, and we don't know who her biological parents are but she's a sweet girl. Just a little strange." The lady she learned was named Laura explained. "Give me the paperwork, I said I was coming for a kid that deserved and needed a good home." The lady's husband rolled his eyes. "Joyce, we don't need another kid." Joyce, Joyce seems nice she decided. The little boy just looked up at his mom very shy, but he seemed sweeter than the older man. "I don't care, Lonnie. She needs a home and Jonathan needs a kid his age to be around." She didn't listen to the argument, simply starting to fall asleep.
When she woke up the second time she was on Joyce's lap as she filled out paperwork. Joyce looked down at the little girl and smiled. "Good morning, birdie." She didn't know her name, but she didn't think it was birdie. So she tilted her head to show her confusion. "It's a nickname, you're Robin. A Robin is a type of bird, so I called you birdie." Robin smiled, she had a name and someone who seemed to care. Lonnie and Jonathan had went back out to the car as Joyce filled out the adoption papers.
And that's how Robin ended up in a room with the little boy looking at her like she was something he'd never seen before. She looked back, the same way. She wasn't used to being around other people.
