Chapter 2

Robin liked her knew family, well she kinda did. Joyce had Lonnie fought a lot, she didn't like that. But when they did her and Jonathan walked to the woods across the street and come up with some game to play. Her and Jonathan were both socially awkward kids so when they put her in school they made sure she was in Jonathan's class.

By her second week in school she learned to make friendship bracelets. Which meant she gave people a lot of friendship bracelets at home. Eventually she learned she could cover the 013 on her wrist with them.

She didn't exactly know how she was supposed to make friends, so she didn't. At least not until sixth grade. She had a little brother know, and her and Jonathan kept Will safe from Lonnie. She discovered that she did have powers. They weren't always useful but it was fun.

She could control people with her mind and see what they were thinking, but what was especially odd was that because she could see into people's minds she would know how they felt. Just not how to comfort them.

She stared down at the number on her wrist, the one she usually covered with random little friendship bracelets she made. Though she didn't exactly have any friends. She made Jonathan a couple but for the most part she made them to hide what she was. She was the reason mama and Lonnie were fighting.

She didn't realize before she slipped into Lonnie's mind and saw him with another woman, saw him thinking about beating her. And she told Joyce, Joyce was her mom and she felt like she needed to know.

But know they were fighting and making her watch, everytime Lonnie blamed her mama would say something. "Please stop, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." Robin was crying, she hated when people yelled. And she hated being the reason her mama was upset.

Eventually Robin fell asleep with her knees to her chest, Lonnie went to the bar, and Joyce went to sleep. Jonathan came out of his and Robin's room when he heard it get quite except for little hiccups. He felt his heartbreak seeing Robin like that. He had never seen his adoptive sister cry.

The dry blood under her nose, tear tracks down her cheeks, and her knees pulled to her chest wasn't a good sign. So Jonathan carefully laid her down, getting a blanket and laying it over her.
