Summary

Wilson Fisk who is the gangster known as The Kingpin is back in New York City with a mission of polluting the drinking water as a way to force the citizens of the city to buy drinking water from a company that he finances.Can Spider-Man with the help of his student Gill Gal team up to stop the gangster to bring New York City to her knees?

Note

The story is loosely based on the Spider-Man cartoon called "The Wrath Of The Sub Mariner" from the 1980s. In this case instead of the Sub Mariner teaming up with Spider-Man, it will be his student Elizabeth "Erika" Parker who besides being a champion swimmer in the breast stoke area of the sport, she is also secretly Gill Gal who gained her power as the female answer to The Creature Of The Dark Lagoon.

Officials with the Empire State University (ESU) and Fair City University (FCU) make the sobering announcement that the swim meet has been cancelled due to one of the swimmers feeling ill after she was working on her practice session. One of the swimmers of ESU who is the archrival of Erika is seen speaking to a local sports reporter named Mary Grace says in a loud voice 'Anyone with an ounce of brains knows that Erika is scared of me. As sure as my name is Victoria Drago, Erika faked her illness to avoid being beaten by me."

Mary then tells Victoria "Victoria just remember that Erika did fall ill when she jumped into the swimming pool for a practice lap and she fell ill after she was in the water. Have more compassion on her. How would you like it if the shoe was in the other foot?"

Victoria then tells Mary "I am surprised that you have accused me of poisoning the water to protect my perfect record winning swim meets. If that chicken has the courage to compete against me, then meet me at any swim meet anywhere, anytime and when she the courage to...Speak of the Devil, you must be either her teammate or her mouthpiece."

Simone Martin who is Erika's roommate at ESU walks up to Victoria and speaks in a harsh tone of voice '"If you have something to say to Erika behind her back, then say it to me. I will be more than happy to send you her personal message from me to you. It is this one. When you want to rile up a competitor, bring the cash receipts next time."

In the meantime back at the home of Peter Parker, he learned that Erika's swim meet was postponed pending an investigation by the authorities. Then Peter hears a knock on his front door when Peter is thinking to himself "I hope that the person knocking on my door is not the cops to warn me to be on the lookout for Spider-Man stealing wallets from subway riders."

When Peter opens the door he sees Erika and her roommate Simone telling Peter 'Hello Peter. Meet my roommate Simone Martin. We are on a mission from Above. Trying to put Erika out of a contest is the worst thing that thing that anyone can try to do. Just asking you if can tell us where Spider-Man since your photographers at the Daily Bugle have many persons thinking that you and Spider-Man are the same person." Erika winks at him since they know their alter egos.
