Chapter 1
Tony confused.
When he got off and walked in to the kitchen to fill his bags of snack, and pull the all-nighters again, he met Wanda. Usually— Wanda will treat him like he was invisible. That he actually understand why, and he doesn’t mind. But not. This morning, Wanda sees him, in the eye, and smiled. She smile! Actually smiling at him; without seems forced or what—she literally smiles, and to Tony’s surprise, she offered to make him quick sandwich.
Tony didn’t know what to say. He just standing near the Kitchenette with baffled look, as Wanda busying herself, and coming with a plate of warm sandwich. “Don’t forget to have a rest,” she says, after that, holding her mug of drink and bring it with her as she leaves. With Tony and the sandwich she just made. For him!
Is this a dream? The Wanda he use to know will never ever give him something edible. It will be more reasonable if it’s poison or something harmful. Why?
Tony grab the plate and walked to his workshop. Still confused and baffled as hell, and then he met Sam. The guy he didn’t even trying to know or befriend after Steve’s brought that man to the tower as Avengers. And Sam, is the same. Never trying to get to know Tony at all. They just talked briefly if there’s is mission or urgent calls. Outside of it? none.
But now, the same guy who treated him just like a normal neighbor who lives in the same building—that only met when they cross paths outside—now talking to him. Not his usual snark or flat tone, but the happy ones. He didn’t formally greet him like he used to do, he just started talking out of nowhere, telling him something about beating Steve’s ass and Bucky’s in Mario Kart to get revenge on Tony’s behalf.
That seems not right. Tony almost think that his teammate gone crazy in one night, or replaced by some kind of shapeshifting aliens—or maybe, what Pepper said to threaten him about lack of sleep were true.
“W-why did you do it?” Tony asked. After finally get his composure.
“What do you mean why? You said they play teamed up on you and make you lost!” Sam said, as if that’s common knowledge, and it is weird because Tony asked why.
“But you are Cap’s friend?” ignoring the fact that Tony didn’t even remember when is it he plays Mario Kart with Steve and Bucky, he go straight to the weirdest thing he ever hear. Why did Sam defend him?
Sam looked baffled; same as Tony who looked confused as hell, and well— there is something in Tony eyes that seems hopeful? But he’s scared. And condused. So many emotions mixed up. “Tony,” Sam spoke. With a low tone. “Yes, i am Steve’s friend, but i am yours too. Why are you sounds like i am not supposed to do this for you?”
Well, because usually, you isn’t. That’s what Tony wanted to say. But then the lifts open. In the communal room where Sam pressed the button. Sam is still make that worry’ face, he focused on Tony. Tony look up, to see the some poeple in communal room look at their direction with curious look, until someone spoke up, “Hey, why is yall just standing there? Come up here! Tony, i will make sure no one’s bothering you this time.”
That’s Ant-Man, hell, why is that guy seems to in a friendly relationship with him? He usually always throw bad jokes and insults Tony quietly when Tony’s not looking. This is all weird. Moreover, Steve look at him with a big grin goofy smiles, and Bucky— that guy wave his hand for him. Tony can’t stomach all of this friendliness that he’s not used to receive. This is so suddenly that he— he pushed Sam’s off the lift and press button to his floor several times. His face hardened. So as everyone.
Moreover Sam, he looked concerned when Tony press the button like his life was in danger, the lifts closened with a sound of worry outside. Tony didn’t understand why! Why they are so nice to him? Tony already used treated like someone invisible, a arrogant landlord, whatever it is.
He listens to JARVIS noticing that his heart’s rate increasing rapidly, notice that Tony almost get a panic attack, so he says, “Sir, please breathed in and out, slowly, i notice you might experience panic attack right now, do you want me to call Captain Rogers or Miss Potts?”
“J— JARVIS?!” That’s it. Tony fainted.
