Rain Down On Me
Summary
Amity watched her girlfriend fading away. Since becoming trapped in the human realm, Luz has faded away, leaving a wisp of the person she used to be behind. She would do anything to help Luz and show her how much she loved her. But would she really do anything? Even if it compromised on her morals?
Note
Hey guys, another one shot. I was having a bad night one night, and Taspiron and I decided to have a little challenge for some fun. They already posted their fic, so I went ahead and edited mine and here it is! I hope you enjoy!

She would do it. She’d totally do it, if just to see Luz smile again.

Amity stood in the odd human realm rain, looking in the window of a store. Not just any store, but a place where magic could come to life, even in a world with no magic. It’s where the love of her life first discovered magic and wonder, where her dreams would take her far away from the cruelty of the world.

The bookstore was closed, since it was the middle of the night. But Amity couldn’t stay away. She stared at the item she sought through the glass, its beautiful white leather almost glowing in the dim light leaking in.

Luz had lit up when she saw it, the special edition of the first Good Witch Azura book, signed by the author herself. The pair had gawked at the beauty of the leather cover, and Amity would never forget what she saw in Luz’s eyes. It was the most alive Luz had looked since they became trapped in the human realm.

Amity had always considered herself a good witch. She had done plenty of things she regretted, most of which she did know were wrong. But that was before she grew into herself, and stood against her parents. Before Luz had come into her life.

Luz, Amity’s beautiful light. A beautiful light that seemed to grow more dim with each passing day. Amity couldn’t tell if it were tears rolling down her face, or if it were the rain trying to comfort her with its cool embrace.

Luz had done so much for her, and so many others! Luz was the only reason any witch was alive anywhere, she always did what she believed was right. She gave away every piece of herself, until she had nothing left to give.

But now? Amity would watch as the shadow of her amazing girlfriend would haunt the halls of the Noceda residence, trying to force optimism for the family she had collected. But Amity knew better. Luz’s eyes showed the truth, how hollow Amity’s light really felt. As if a black hole had appeared in Luz’s chest, sucking all the life out of her.

So would Amity steal a book for her girlfriend, just to see a little light through all the darkness? Absolutely she would. But…

What would Luz say if she were there?

“Amity?”

Looks like she wouldn’t have to wonder. Amity whirled to see Luz in her otter pajamas and a raincoat, standing next to the nearby streetlamp, umbrella in hand.

“Luz!” Amity said. “You should be asleep.”

“So should you,” Luz said. “Why are you out in the rain? You’re going to get sick! Are you okay?” Luz approached and grabbed Amity’s hand, holding the umbrella over her girlfriend.

“Y-yeah, I just…” Amity turned to look back into the shop, the white book like a lighthouse amongst the shadows surrounding their lives.

“You came to look at the book?” Luz asked.

Amity remained silent, but she could see the frown appear in Luz’s reflection in the glass.

“Why are you here, Sweet Potato?”

“I-I…” Amity stuttered, but her voice was failing.

The dam broke when Luz reached a hand up, caressing Amity’s cheek and turning the witch so their eyes would meet. Amity began sobbing when she saw the concern written on Luz’s face. She saw the bags under Luz’s tired eyes, the way her shoulders seemed to sag under the weight of not one but two worlds.

Luz quietly wrapped her girlfriend into a tight hug, shushing her and stroking her hair. “I’ve got you, Sweet Potato,” Luz murmured into Amity’s hair.

“B-but who has you?” Amity asked, pulling away. Her ragged breathing was making words hard, but she needed to speak. She had been silent for too long. The words were a torrent in her chest, finally breaking the dam.

“I look at you, and I see the light of my life,” Amity said. “I don’t know how I made it so far without you, because there’s no way I could live another second without you. But ever since everything happened, I’ve watched that light fade. You’ve given everything you have to me, and your friends, and your mom, and I’ve watched you fade away. That light has become so dim, Batata, and it scares me. I just want to make you happy like you did for us. For me.”

“Amity…” Luz said.

“W-when I saw the look on your face when we found that book,” Amity said, pointing to the novel in the bookstore, “it was the brightest you’d been in a long time. I just… I don’t know, I wanted to make you happy. I love you.”

Amity chanced to look up at Luz’s eyes. They seemed anything but dim right now. Amity watched as they darted around, examining Amity’s face as tears appeared in the corners.

“What?” Amity asked.

“You…” Luz started, but it was like her mind was a thousand miles away.

“I know, I’m sorry! Stealing is bad, and I wouldn’t have! I just really wish I could make you happy like you do for me,” Amity said, starting to cry again. Titan, Luz must hate her…

“You… love me. Me?” Luz asked. Amity nodded, tears streaming down her face.

Luz moved fast, leaning in and kissing Amity passionately. The umbrella tumbled to the ground as both of Luz’s arms moved over Amity, embracing and caressing the witch as they kissed.

Their lips pressed against each other, as if the kiss were the only thing keeping them alive. Amity felt electricity every time they crashed together, every touch of Luz’s hands on her shooting sparks through her body.

When Amity felt as if her lungs might collapse, they finally broke apart, gasping for air.

“I love you, too,” Luz whispered against Amity’s lips.

Then Amity heard the most magical thing. Luz giggled, and Amity couldn’t stop her smile as she saw Luz’s eyes. They were so bright, and the smile on Luz’s face? It was genuine.

“I love you, I love you, I love you!” Luz chanted, growing louder and louder, spinning Amity in the rain. They were both giggling as the raindrops played a song for them to dance to. They collapsed into each other, breathing heavily and laughing.

“I don’t need a book to make me happy, not while I have the most amazing girlfriend in the world,” Luz said. She giggled again. “You love me,” she whispered to herself.

“I love you so much, Batata,” Amity said. They sat back against the bookstore, leaning into each other as the rain continued to fall.

Amity knew better than to think Luz was fixed, and she’d be happy all the time. Not only did Amity know better, she didn’t care. Luz was allowed to feel down, she had been through so much. No, Luz wouldn’t always be happy and cheerful. But now, at least, Amity showed her she wasn’t alone.
