Chapter 2
She was laughing…drinking as well. probably not a very attractive quality but who was going to know that it wasnt water?
Liaria continued to swirl her drink around although the amount of what was actually in her glass had gotten smaller quite quickly.
Many people had decided to bore her with kind words about her turning 18 or about her parents passing.
It didn’t feel like this was what was meant for her, for the rest of her life to be like this. Everything was falling into place.
if she told her self that enough times then maybe she would believe it was right, she hoped so..
This is what she was raised to do, appear at parties and marry rich…as if she wasnt already. Maybe it was for status..it probably was. Whatever it was this was her duty, carrying on being polite, kind and shine…
His patience was growing thin.
Yes it was Liaria’s birthday but he would’ve rather done this stupid party with just the two of them if need be.
Billiam knew that Liaria would’ve gone along with whatever he said but of course this whole thing was just for getting Liaria married
as well as ensuring that people weren’t concerned about Liaria’s recent lack of going to events.
At least she played her part well, if she didnt it would only piss him off more and she was scared of him anyways. What a wonderful actress, too bad she was dumb.
He had tried his best make no mistake, he had tried a private tutor but it didn't work.
it annoyed him and she knew this because he made sure she did, but she was pretty. That was obviously enough to help her get through life because she was a girl but it would’ve been helpful. he always thought she was better than she actually was
he continued to sit in the corner of the room, drinking and making snide comments to phil who was more than happy to hear Billiam be more social than he usually was.
"gods look at her..."
"why did i even host this party"
"who even is that?"
"i hate him what is he doing here?"
Then the part that he dreaded came. The speech. The things that he did for his younger sister..
she better have been grateful
He stood tall next to Liaria, intimidatingly so. there were small murmurs but everything soon went quiet when he began to talk
“Hello everyone, thank you for gathering for my dear sister’s 18th birthday. It means a lot. so im glad that we could be nice enough hosts for this…important party. Please enjoy yourself” His voice was loud, you could tell how hesitant he was though
there was applause and then everyone quickly went back to talking. Someone in particular caught his eye…Wilbur. One of Liaria’s friends.
They talked a lot, spent a lot of time together, had many fond memories and he helped Liaria when she was “upset"… Billiam hated him.
He just didn’t like when other people had too much control over her decisions, he was her brother so he was only being responsible but then again he didn’t want to say anything just yet.
If he said small things he was sure she wouldn’t see Wilbur anymore, after all she valued his opinion too much
“Sir Billiam…” he greeted ”Miss Liaria, happy birthday. Would you care for a walk?” Wilbur smiled
speak of the devil and he will appear
“Sir Wilbur. Why thank you, and yes i would love to take a walk” she turned her head to Billiam “if thats ok of course brother?” she asked
Billiam would’ve screamed, yelled, thrown things and most importantly told her hell no, but he couldn’t. another reason why he hated these dumb gatherings
“Yes. Just don't be long” he muttered
Wilbur’s eyes widened a little, she needed to ask? How stupid.
She smiled and nodded and then followed Wilbur as he lead her through the crowds while holding her hand.
Eventually they made it into the garden and sat on a bench together The sky was orange with red streaks, what a nice night. Having nice weather was definitely a plus for her birthday although she wished that this happened more often.
She wanted to be more social.
“So? How does it feel? You're 18!” He laughed
She smiled back but still felt a little empty
"Nervous? Im getting married soon i suppose" She muttered
"Oh..i thought you didn't mind?" he asked her
She found herself start to fidget with her necklace
"I dont. I never have really...i just"
"𝐼 𝒿𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓁𝒾𝓈𝑒𝒹 𝒽𝑜𝓌 𝓈𝒸𝒶𝓇𝑒𝒹 𝒾 𝒶𝓂"
