Chapter 6
At the Daily Bugle, the staff was running wild as new updates about the Goblin came in every minute. Jonah excitedly ran from desk to desk, enthusiastic for the latest headline. He was at the height of his excitement when he approached Betty Brandt’s desk.
“Whatcha find, Brandt? Any Goblin related news?” Jonah asked with an eager grin.
Betty didn’t share his enthusiasm. “I just got off the phone with the NYPD. They said Spider-Man and the Green Goblin just murdered Gwen Stacy.”
All of Jonah’s excitement disappeared. His face fell as he tried to process what he had just heard.
“Somebody call Parker,” he mumbled before walking away.
Mary Jane Watson burst through the front door of the Parker household.
“Peter!” she cried as loud as she could. “Peter, are you-”
She was cut off as she saw May Parker sitting at the kitchen table, her eyes red and puffy.
“Peter’s not here,” she sighed. “He hasn’t been here since this morning, He hasn’t answered any of my calls.”
MJ walked over to May, putting her hand in the older womans.
“When do you think he’ll come back, Mrs. Parker?” she sniffled.
“When he’s ready,” May whispered. “When he’s ready.”
At the top of the stairs, Peter listened to the two talk.He didn’t think he would ever be ready. But he could think about that later. As he finished restocking his web supply, he discreetly climbed out the window and swung away. He had a Goblin to kill.
