Goddamn Luck

“Parker, this will your intern, you’ll teach Daniel Nightingale about our biotechnology, chemistry and engineering research and train him in those expertise.” Mr. Raven, the head of his department, had brought a child who is probably not older than 16 that is absolutely (what the people at WE calls it) Wayne Adoption Bait. Parker Luck was back again..

“Hi I’m Peter Parker-Stark but most people call me Peter.” Peter gives out his hand to shake and Daniel takes it, his long sleeve reveals a lichtenberg scar that scales up. That definitely doesn’t concern Peter, definitely not.

Peter takes a good look at Daniel; he has the Wayne’s black hair and blue eyes, pale looking skin, a sharp jawline already, thin frame like thinner than Peter was when he was on the streets of Gotham, and bushy eyebrows.

“Umm can you stop staring?” Daniel spoke after getting uncomfortable under Peter’s gaze, he can’t risk anyone looking at him for too long, Peter might alert CPS or the cops on him being missing in Illinois.(did his parent even put out missing paper for him? He hasn’t contacted Tucker or Sam for a while.)

“Ah- sorry, just a bad habit of mine, got it from my father.” Peter replied before returning to his work, he should think of something to keep the kid busy, he’s working something similar to the Arc Reactor but less dangerous if someone got their hands on it. Peter turned to face where Daniel once stood but he already disappear and was on the other side of the lab, toying with the chemicals sitting on top of the desk, with no safety gloves or gear!

“DANIEL!” Peter yelled, way too loudly but the kid was playing with harsh chemicals! He needs to clean this place up. The kid stops instantly and his pupils shrank. Peter knows that look all too well, he carefully steps when Daniel stands, move the chemicals away from Daniel’s reach, Daniel still not reacting to the scratching sound of glass sliding away. Peter snaps a finger in front of Daniel and it seems to work, Daniel pupils seems to grew bigger and more focus, and the hand standing, so still, was dropped to the boy’s side.

“Hey kid, you here with me?” Peter asked, Daniel turned his head towards Peter and nods slightly. It’s better than nothing, Peter grabs a wheelie chair and gives it to Daniel, after a few seconds Daniel sits on the chair and sinks into the cushion. Peter grabs the emergency blanket and some wipes to make sure Daniel hands were clean after touching those chemicals and might awake him. He gives Daniel the blanket and the wipes, he felt Daniel’s hand a second time and it’s cold. Like too cold for the human body to function.

“Sorry, must’ve expected more from an intern or at least a proper one.” Daniel speaks an apology, God this kid reminds him of himself. “You’re fine, I didn’t even know I was getting an intern! So I don’t have any real opinions on what I want my intern to ‘be like’.” Peter put up air quotes because it’s ridiculous because it’s just saying that you only choose an Intern that fits your needs and make sure that kid doesn’t grow from your mentoring!

“Still! You had a job to do today and I barged in and made you think you have to take care of me!” Daniel says in a frustrating tone to himself, he got yelled at multiple time! Why did he freeze up all of a sudden! (Because it’s the exact same scream his father yelled when he found Danny mid transformation.) “Daniel—“ “Danny. Call me Danny.” “Okay, Danny, I really don’t care. Plus I signed up to have an intern! I just had forgotten about it because of my recent project but you’re not a burden, I chose to have you. Now c’mon, if you’re feeling up to it, help me set up the next step of my project.”

Peter threw an extra pair of safety gear that definitely was too big for him that he had to roll the sleeves of the coat and gloves but Danny seemed to light up after his last sentence so at least he’s probably doing something right?

Holy shit this kid is smart. Well of course he is, he had to get this internship to do so but still! He’s digesting every word Peter says and actually doing it! Is this what Tony felt like? Because if he did, he loves it, Danny is such a fun, snarky kid to be around.

He even got some information about him; he’s 16, DOB is August 9th (just a day before his!) who’s interested in becoming an astronaut when he was a kid since he loves space and still does to this day but can’t due to medical reason (probably related to that scar) and is now working on either being an engineer or astrophysics.

He’s from a small area in Illinois, went to Casper High and now goes to Gotham University! He has a older sister studying psychology at Elmore University, a younger sister who’s traveling (that’s concerning and he’ll question that later) and a twin brother who was with their younger sister (okay that’s a little better but still.), has two best friends named Tucker who like tech (like Ned) and Sam who’s into subliminal nether worldly and a very out spoken ‘ultra-recyclo-vegetarian’. (Weirdly like MJ too?)

Peter in return, talks about his life in Queens, Midtown, MJ & Ned, his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, Mr. Stark (but talks about him like a low rank engineer, sorry Tony!) and his project; The Arc Reactor (and try to create Vibranium).

They worked for 3 hours before Danny told him he should be at home, Peter understands and let him go (he turned a blind eye when Daniel stole the emergency blanket and wipes). Peter starts to brainstorm what they’re going to do next time after Danny leaves school, he starts also packing his stuff to return home and start his patrol.

Stupid Fenton Luck. Danny had just ran away from his parents and the stupid fucking (excuse my French.) GIW aka Guys In White. He can’t believe he was caught by his dad during his transformation, then he sent out a distress signal for Tucker so he knows Plan A had happen and he needs to go.

Team Phantom had made an emergency bag under his bed and the outskirts of Amity Park, it had everything he could need; water, food, a fake identify that will be upload digitally soon, money to last him a month or two if he can stretch it out, a Burner phone with Jazz, Sam, Tucker, Ellie, Dan and sadly Vlads phone number in the human world and a bunch of ghost numbers in the Ghost zone, all the blueprints from Fenton Works, and three pure Ecto-Dejecto each.

He’s about to cry, he’s far enough from his family and the GIW so the adrenaline had wear off. But he can’t, he needs to find a place that he can both survive feed his ghost form and human form. He open a portal with his Ring Of Rage he got from defeating from that stupid Pariah Dark and now is an Eternal Prince until he’s ready to uphold the King title. He opens a portal to where Clockwork was and had broke the water work out of the pipes.

“Prince Daniel, I have found a place that is similar to Amity Park. Gotham, New Jersey; the ambient ectoplasm isn’t as strong as Amity but Lady Gotham, the ghost who haunts and protects her knights, will help you get as much ectoplasm you need.” Clockwork stated as he draws a map for Danny.

“Ancients, I- I’m just tired. Can I stay here for a while before I go?” Danny wipes his tears as he hiccups in between breathes. Clockwork soften his expression to play with the prince (soon be king) now white hair, he feels pity when seeing his prince like this and wishes to stop but he can only watch. “Of course Daniel, go to bed, I’ll contact Danielle and Dante.”

After hours of needed sleep, Danny blinks away the grogginess as he awakens and calls Jazz. “Danny! Danny oh god are you okay? Are you well? Please tell me you’re in the ghost zone and not the middle of no where.” Jazz rapidly voice came into the phone as she definitely skipping her class for her brother.

“I’m fine Jazz, it just hurts.” Hearing her brother voice be so broken pains her.

“..I know Danny, I know. Can you tell me your plan? I can probably sneak you into my dorm room.” Jazz requested.

“Jazz, you have a life, stop taking care of me. You been doing it since I was adopted. I want you to live your life and not worry about me.”

“How can I not worry about you! You’re my brother! My dumb stupid brother!”

“Hey!”

“Anyways, can you tell me your plan? Sam and Tucker are killing my phone with their messages.”

“I’ll call them later, but clockwork said I need to love to Gotham because it has enough ambient ectoplasm for me and I get to talk my first resident ghost.”

“GOTHAM?!” Jazz yelled through the phone, bursting Danny’s eardrums, what’s weird about Gotham?

“Yeah…? What about Gotham?”

“ITS THE MOST HIGH CRIME STATE! ITS DANGEROUS DANNY! Why can’t you stay in metropolis? Or star city? Give Clockwork the phone I have to yell his clock out.” Jazz demand.

Danny covered the speaker onto his chest to look at Clockwork, “is that true?” Danny asked and Clockwork just simply nodded. “fuck.” “DANNY DON’T CUSS!”

After a back and forth with Jazz, she accept him living in Gotham for his condition and called Sam and Tucker who were worried to death (ha) about him and why he didn’t text or call them for hours. By the end of their call, the trio were crying like baby’s again but it was okay Danny needed that out of his system, he promise to contact them and Jazz as soon as possible and hung up.

Then Ellie and Dan came rushing into Clockworks tower and crushed Danny with hugs and tears. He said that he would be fine in Gotham and try to reassure them that he’s fine but soon enough, he starts crying again and Ellie arms with Dan not close behind, rubbing circles into his back to comfort him.

After hours, he tells them to keep traveling and that they could always check in him in Gotham. And now he’s finally at the border of Gotham, talking to Lady Gotham.

“You have a scary place Lady.” Danny looks around the dark and eerily buildings that look like they are one wind blow away from crumpling into dust.

“I’ll take that as a compliment young prince. Hope you like my city, I had taken care of it the most I can but my curse always brings trouble. Lucky I have my knights to break away the curse I put on my city and return, I protect them the best I can.” Lady Gotham said as her shadow follows Danny on the streets, she looks down, a wave of sadness covers her face before she looks back at Danny.

“I’ll protect your city by being the exterminator for the shades.” Danny proudly said as he turns around an abandoned building he could sleep in until further notice, that gain a laugh from Lady Gotham as he turns the shades away from forming into a ghost with an obsession that is unhealthy.

Danny was about to scale up a abandoned building before spotting a semi cleaned out large dumpster that was perfect! It’s ambiguous enough so people don’t take a second glance at it, it’s large enough for a tiny hole, and it has enough space to let him leave in peace!

After getting himself cozy in his newly design home (Lady Gotham is concerned for the young prince for him to want to live in a dumpster.) he finds a gym with a shower he can use, a food bank to get his food (and restaurant, he needs a lot more food than one meal a day!) all he needs is to make a bank account and steal from Brucie Wayne!

2 weeks in, Danny identify set up and he’s now Daniel Ghoul Nightingale with a bank account that his dead parents set up before dying in a Joker incident. Due to dying at 14, Danny physically appearance will be slower so he can only pass as a 16 year old with baby fat.  Now with the money that Sam had stored in both bags in the bank with the $1000 dollar stolen from Bruce Wayne (eat the rich!), he can get into a school online (hopefully).

He finds Gotham University does take online classes for certain conditions (which he has) and takes them, it’s just required he goes in person at least once per week. Doable now—

“Hey, we are about to close soon, mind finishing up” Barbara didn’t even see this kid walk in the front door, but after glancing at the computer section 10 minutes before they close, she sees a kid who absolutely checking all the boxes for Wayne Adoption Bait™️(why does he look like Damian?). He’s looking at the online classes Gotham University for the Wayne Foundation so kids who have outside stuff going on can still get an education.

Danny shakes his head yes and starts exiting out all the tabs, he applied for the class and is just waiting for a response. He also looked into The Bats and their rouges, Lady Gotham is quite cryptic (like all ghost are) when it came to them so he had to research on his own.

After the librarian saw him signing out of the computer, they both walked out the front door together and said goodbye. After she got to the clock tower for tonight’s patrol, she whipped out her phone to text the Bats before they start their nightly routine.

Yum!: Peter Parker-Stark, 20-23 years old, works mostly in the Engineering department for WE but occasionally has been seen in the medical department. He has a bachelor in Engineering and Biochemistry, rents out an apartment in the same block as Leslie’s clinic, Parents died at 3, Aunt and Uncle took over guardianship until they died when he was 16 and a foster family Tony Stark and Pepper Potts with their daughter Morgan gave him a home until he turned 16 but there’s no existence of the foster family.

Barbie!: geez, anyways couldn’t get much but saw Daniel as his first name. And can really track down every Daniel in the database because that would take days.

Getbacktowork: Start patrolling, we’ll find out about these civilians later.

4 months into being in his lovely new home (he still hasn’t contacted his family.) he sees an added for a WE internship for Gotham University kids. He needs to have access to a lab soon because with how my shades there is in Gotham, he’s going to need another thermos soon. So he applies for an engineering internship, he was going to choose Mr. Raven but Lady Gotham shows up and stops him.

“Don’t choose Mr. Raven young prince.” Lady Gotham interjected.

“Why not? He is the head of the department?” Danny said as he hovers over the application button.

“Not him, choose Mr. Parker-Stark.” Lady Gotham said.

“…He’s not even been in that department for a full year! He’s not going to have what I need to fix or built another thermos!” Danny said but Lady Gotham shakes her head and pushes Danny’s thumb over to Parker-Starks application.

“Great. Thanks for that.” Danny sarcastically said, Lady Gotham bids her goodbyes to watch over her knights and after she leaves a green letter pops in front of Danny. Ancients Clockwork.

“Blah blah blah..doors…disappearing and reappearing…help…multiverse? Why am I surprise? It’s literally called the Infinite Worlds but still why does he need my help?” Danny read the end of the letter before it turns into ash, great he has another job to do.

Peter..isn’t so bad. He was way better at his craft than Danny expected! He was going to make a battery that produces clean energy that’s quick and efficient! Like holy ancients isn’t that cool, and he helped him comfort him after his little freeze. Danny liked Peter so far but is still keeping him at a distance. He doesn’t want anyone to find out who he was. But besides that, Danny felt that Peter had died when he first walked into his lab, but Danny didn’t see a Ghost Core or an incomplete core like that Red Hood does.

Danny doesn’t understand, shouldn’t he have at least some part of him ghost, liminal? Because he felt the same energy of death around Peter but there was no obvious signs besides Danny’s intuition. He doesn’t want to question it but he will asked this to frostbite when he has a chance, right now he has some shades to catch.

‘Did he just see a spider costume swinging around?’ Danny thought while hearing a Thwip sound effect from a distance and saw a white string connecting to the building and saw a red and blue spandex soaring in the night sky.

‘Did he just see a ghost?’ Peter thought as he felt a shiver when passing by an alley while swing around the block and sees a ghost(?) with snow white hair floating above, a sliver and black hazmat suit with the logo ‘DP’ on its chest and a wispy tail at the end. Is that ghost holding a thermos?

Peter drops down on the sidewalk and peeps into the alley to lock eyes with the ghost kid, holy shit that’s a kid.

Danny locks eyes with the spider design vigilante, he wasn’t on the Wikipedia! Who the hell is he?!

“..Hey..you lost?” Peter said which made the ghost kid get into a fight stance, he doesn’t not want to fight this kid nor can he even fight him because aren’t ghost like, translucent and can go through people?

“No, who the hell are you? Never seen you on Gothams Wikipedia page.” Danny said as he catches one the last shades in the area while retreating back into a fight stance just in case this one wants to fight.

“Ah, I have only been around a year or two, I only stay in this part of Crime Alley. I’m guessing I haven’t been spread my reputation then I thought I did.” The Spider said as he rubbed the back of its neck before slowly approaching Danny with his hands still visible.

“Why are you a spider?” Danny said, standing strong.

“I gotten a spider mutation from a radioactive spider.” Peter stated.

“Is that what got you killed?”

“I— No? No it didn’t kill me? I’m still alive.”

“You smell like death.” He smells exactly like Peter. Of course he’s a vigilante!

“You can smell death on people! That’s awesome!” Peter yelled, because really this is a new species he’s been introduced to and besides his ghostbuster knowledge, he’s learning new ghost powers and they can smell death!

“We can and it is awesome but why are you here?”

“Because I see a ghost kid walking around with a thermos and I wonder if the kids lost, so are you?”

“No I was about to head home.”

“Okay you want me to walk you home?”

“No it’s not far.” It’s literally the next street over.

“Okay use the thermos if you get into trouble. Want to tell me your name kid?”

“..tell me yours first.”

“I’m Spider-Man!”

“Not like Webslinger or The Spider.. just Spider-Man?”

“What’s wrong with it?”

“Nothing! It’s strange for Gotham.”

“Well I was loyal to Queens before some circumstances made me move here”

“Yesh, it was bad that you had to move here?”

“Yeah.”

They sat in silence for 5 minutes awkwardly until Danny said something.

“Why haven’t you asked about me?” Danny said quietly.

“Like what?” Peter asked.

“The way that I am? Don’t you recognize me?”

“You as a ghost? Psh I seen aliens so ghost existing is going to happen!” So Spider-Man doesn’t know about Phantom, then again Danny wasn’t outside of Amity to spread his vigilantism.

“But why haven’t you asked about like questions about my death?”

“I would love to ask questions but if you don’t want to talk about then I won’t question it plus it think that question is equivalent to saying something offensive if I’m not wrong.”

“You’re right about that, I have to head back down.. see you around?”

“See you around..”

“Phantom.”

Spider-Man made an affirming sound before Danny dived into the ground and traveled back up to his dumpster home, if Peter and Spider-man were the same person then he wouldn’t mind, they were both kind and not pushy like he seen with the bats.
