'You're the only one I could turn to for help'
Triggers: Season 10 divergence,
Dean wasn't sure what to expect when he answered the frantic pounding on the door to the garage he'd rented in a town where nothing ever seemed to happen and the supernatural didn't seem to exist. Out of habit he reached for the gun tucked in the holster that rested at the small of his back and checked the safety before opening the door. However seeing an injured archangel standing on his front door step wasn't a square on his bingo card and he hurriedly yanked his visitor in and shut the door despite there was no one out that would see him.
"You're supposed to be dead." He hissed as he looked around; history had taught him that if there was one angel then there were bound to be more.
"Funny so are you."
"What do you want Gabriel?" He snapped; he wasn't in the mood to play games and just the sight of the archangel was wearing on his already thin nerves.
"I need a place to stay. And what safer place to stay than with a Winchester." Dean narrowed his eyes at Gabriel before straightening up as the angel's eyes traveled over him from his head to his feet. "Though you do seem to have some impressive new features there Deano; those horns fit you."
The angel's smirk grated on Dean and he allowed his eyes to flick to black before he turned his back on him. There was no way he was going to let Gabriel stay with him; besides he was more than likely working Sam and would give away his location.
"No I won't. I haven't even in contact with Sammich. He thinks I'm dead remember? The show down with Luci in Elysian Fields ring any bells?"
"I remember, you tried to charm your ex and she put a blood spell on you and then stole your Angel Blade that Lucifer stabbed you with." Dean arched an eyebrow at the angel. "And just how did that not kill you?"
"Because it wasn't my real blade. It was an Angel Blade yes, but a regular old Angel Blade won't do more than just cause a little discomfort to an archangel. To kill us you need an ArchAngel Blade."
Despite the smug tone in Gabriel's voice Dean watched as he shifted from foot to foot; no doubt a habit he picked up from his time among the humans. As he pretended to listen to Gabriel speak, Dean let his gaze roam over the other man; taking in every detail that he could. Gabriel's wings moved behind him every so often, all six golden with silver flecks of silver mixed in and darker bronze along the Alulas and Scapulars. They reminded Dean of the dawn on a clear summer day.
"Anyway, I need a place to rest up and let my Grace recharge and like I said, no safer place than with a Winchester."
Dean rolled his eyes and sighed before turning away from the angel. "So go to Sam. He can protect you, plus Cas will probably be there too."
"Yeah well, I'd rather not. Just between you and me, your brother can be a bit condescending when he thinks he's right. Plus I'm sure I'm not Castiel's favorite right now. Especially since Metatron used my likeness to try and get him to accept his role in the story."
"Sounds familiar."
"You're still holding that against me?"
"You turned Sam into Baby! You made me take part in a procedural cop show. I HATE procedural cop shows."
"But you did so well! You figured out what I was before Sam and how to trap me."
Dean pinned the archangel with a dead eye glare before rolling his eyes again. "Look you can't stay here. I don't want of your winged dick brethren showing up here. Or even worse letting Cas and Sam know where I am. They're better off thinking I'm dead."
"Considering they're both persona non grata, I'm pretty sure no one would tell them anything." Gabriel's wings flexed behind him before drooping down dejectedly, catching Dean off guard. "C'mon Deano. Just for a little bit. You won't even know I'm here. Plus, I honestly didn't know who else I could turn too for this."
"So a Demon is a better choice than other Angels?"
"You're not a full demon. If you were would have killed me the moment you opened the door. And you wouldn't be thinking about letting me stay."
Dean snarled and quickly pulled the first blade from his hip and pressed it against Gabriel's throat, forcing the angel against the door. He bared his teeth as his eyes shifted to black.
"You don't know shit about me. I could gut you where you stand right now. I know this blade can do it; I don't need no special archangel blade. She easily split Gadreel open so I know she can do the same to you."
For his part Gabriel didn't look concerned, instead he just snorted and in the blink of an eye was across the room. The move seemed to cost him as he stumbled forward and appeared to pull in a couple ragged breaths.
"You won't. You can't." He huffed a he righted himself. "You're not the demon you want Crowley to believe you are. Everything you've done since you got those pretty black peepers hasn't been without a reason. You killed a womanizing jerk instead of the woman that the contract covered. You stepped in when you seen a women being disrespected...though you were pretty dickish to her too. You are still human under those horns and eyes Dean Winchester and no matter what you feel or say you don't feel, you won't be able to bring yourself to hurt me.."
For a couple long minutes Dean just stared at the archangel, his entire being telling him to toss him out on his ass but knowing deep down that Gabriel was right--and absolutely hating the fact. Gabriel might be one of the more annoying winged dicks, but he wasn't the worst. Besides Dean had taken up residence in practically the middle of nowhere where he ran a little repair garage that serviced the closest town and he though he didn't want to say it, he was craving some sort of interaction outside of the odd repair job.
"Fine. But the minute your Grace is fully charged you're out."
The sight of Gabriel's smile caused warmth to flood through Dean and he grumbled as he pushed it down and put a tight lid on whatever was trying to set up residence under his ribs. And he certainly wasn't going to think about how it soothed the burning from the Mark on his arm; turning his always simmering anger down to a low thrum.

"Cas. I found him...but there's a problem."
"And that is?"
"Dean's a demon....and he's paling around with Gabriel handing out just desserts..."
