Chapter 15

Steve had stayed another hour with Bucky. They talked and Bucky was starting to piece together small information and memories.

Steve had given Bucky his number as he was getting ready to leave, "Call me for anything,"

As Steve got up Bucky reached out and grabbed his arm, "Don't leave,"

Steve smiled, "I can come back later if you like,"

Bucky nodded and slowly let go of Steve.

Steve smiled the entire way as he rode his motorcycle through New York. He found Bucky.

Pulling up to the curb Steve turned off his vehicle and slide off the bike. Then he quickly made him way in the an apartment complex and took the stairs to the four floor and banged on a door.

"Coming!" He heard muffled on the other side.

The door swung open and Natasha stood with her hand in her hip.

"What's up Cap?" Nat greeted Steve and opened the door so he could enter.

Stepping in Steve grabbed Natasha by her arm, "It was him, it was really him! I found him. Buckys alive!"

Natasha blinked, "What?! H-How?"

"After he went MIA he was found my locals in Austria but he had bad injuries and amnesia," Steve explained.

"That's... I can't even believe it," Nat says shaking her head, "But he recognized you, right?"

"He remembered my name without me telling him,"

"So he remembered that you guys were together?"

"No... he didn't remember that. And... I don't want to throw that at him with all the other things especially if he doesn't remember our relationship. I want him to have feeling for me because he actually has those feelings not just because I tell him we were a couple in the past,"

Back at the home Bucky smiled as he said Steve's name over and over in his head, "Steve," he said once more under his breath.

He sat in the medical center as Cassie and another doctor examined and measured his shoulder and stump.

For weeks he had been coming in to get a fitting for a prosthetic. He had seen the blue prints and he was impressed. It was a metal arm programmed to react to brain signals and shoulder tendons so it could move like a regular flesh arm. Some guy named Stark had made it.

He had been about to try it on but was called down to the lobby and he met Steve. But now after Steve left he had returned to the medical center.

When the arm was finally fitted, Bucky took a glance at it. It was metal and had a silver color. It resembled a real arms shape with fingers as-well.

The next hour Cassie had him practice moving the arm by picking up things and bringing cups of water to his mouth to try and not spill.

The thing had great motor skills and reacted well after practicing for a while.

After that Bucky could not wait for Steve to come back, small memories started to come back and Steve was in most of them. He remembered dancing with him, laughing, joking with each other. So he sat in the lobby with his new arm watching the door for the tall blonde man.

Almost 40 minutes later Steve walked in and spotted Bucky right away.

“Buck!” Steve called out and a Bucky stood quickly.

Steve smiled and his eyes danced over the metal arm, “Wow! That looks good on you!”

Bucky blushed a little and turned to hide it, “Uh… do you want to go up and eat dinner?”

“Sure!”

They both made their way to the floor with the cafeteria and rec room. Not too many people were sat eating so it was easy to find a seat after they grabbed some food.

“Tell me some more things,” Bucky urged Steve for more information. And Steve gladly started talking.

He even started going through his phones photos library and showed him pictures of his friends and even older pictures of the two of them.

“This is Sam and Natasha, they were our closest friends and…” then Steve was interrupted.

“What’s up with the new arm? Now you really look like RoboCop!” The obnoxious voice of Wade quipped from behind Bucky.

Bucky turned and quickly stood causing Wade to take a step backwards. But the amputee quickly advanced and grabbed Wade by the next with his new metal arm and shoved him against the nearby wall.

“Shut the fuck up Wade. I’ve had enough of your remarks,” Bucky growled.

Wade smiled and put his arms up in surrender, “Oh come on James, you know I didn’t mean it. You know I love a good joke!”

Bucky glared at him then removed his arm from Wades neck and made his way back to Steve.

“Is he always like that?” Steve asked watching the bald man rub his neck as he left the cafeteria.

Bucky nodded and quickly wanted to resume talking about their previous subject.

As dinner went on Steve brought up an idea, “Hey, so I know we kind of just met each other again, but I thought it would be nice if you moved in with me. You know, to get outta here. Maybe if you lived with me your memory could come back quicker,”

A few weeks later Bucky moved in with Steve. It was a sad goodbye to Cassie. He was told that he still needed to attend therapy and Cassie helped him find a new therapist closer ti Steve's apartment.

On moving day Sam and Natasha came to help even though Bucky never really had any possessions at the home other than his clothes, which even those didn't add up to a large number.

The apartment was nice and oddly familiar to Bucky. Steve told him that's probably because it was the apartment they had wanted back in university.

It was a decent sized apartment with a kitchen, living space, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms.

"So this is my room," Steve pushed a door open and Bucky peeked in.

Then the door opposite to Steve's was the second room, "and this will be yours,"

Sam and Nat helped clean the second room up and bring in Buckys boxes.

After unboxing Nat and Sam stayed over for dinner which ended up just being takeout from a nearby restaurant.

Soon after they left as it got late along withBucky and Steve were getting tired.

Steve said goodnight to Bucky and made his way to his own room.

Steve was awoken in the middle of the night by a loud shriek. As he sat up startled his head whipped towards the door and threw the sheets off of him self as he leapt out of bed wearing just his boxer briefs.

Quickly he swung the door open and barged into Buckys room.

It was dark but he could see Bucky sitting up in his bed, his shoulder shook as a silent sob wracked his chest.

"Buck?" Steve made his way over to the brunette.

"Steve?" Bucky whispered then sniffled.

"I'm right here, it's okay," Steve whispered as he sat on the bed and pulled Bucky into a hug.

Bucky wrapped his one arm around Steve's body pulling him closer then buried his face into the blondes shoulder.

Small sobs filled the room as Bucky cried into Steve's body. Steve rubbed the man's back in soothing circles trying to calm him down.

"I got you Buck, it’s okay,”

As he slowly calmed down he spoke, “Stay…please,”

“Of course,” Steve replied as he crawled further up onto the bed. Bucky laid close to Steve holding one of Steve’s arms close around him.

Slowly the two drifted to sleep with each others bodies to warm each other.
