I'm like 99% sure ur parents know

Sam

Lmfao Good luck with that

Dan

Wow I feel so supported by u guys

He wasn't surprised in the slightest at the news.

He had been flying around fighting smaller ghosts and defending the people of new York pretty openly, often taking selfies with people who later posted online about "the random ghost kid who helped me earlier today"

Hes gone viral a couple times before so it was only a matter of time before his parents caught on, as much as he hated it they both did have social media.

His computer let him know he got another message.

Sam

Well while we're chatting, how's it going so far :p

Dan

Hows wat going?

Sam

new York idiot

Dan

Oh

It's whatever I guess??

The subways are as gross as u guys said they were

Tuck

Did you fist fight a rat yet?

Dan

Obviously yeah

The rat won tho :(

Sam

Not surprised

He giggled to himself for a while, he nearly forgot his entire family was asleep barely a few doors down.

Dan

Am I missing out on anything in Amity?

Sam

We went to a couple concerts but that's pretty much it

Tuck

You mean you forced me to come with you to concerts

Sam

Same thing

Dan

Man I wish I was still there :(

This srsly sucks without you guys

its boring

Like I'm gonna die here

Again

Sam

Honestly wouldn't doubt it people in new York are crazy

Tuck

DANNY DID YOU PLAY THE GAME YET

Sam

I'M KILLING YOU

Dan

Not yet dude! It's a two player game who else would play with me???

Tuck

You srsly haven't made any other friends yet?

Danny groaned to himself slouching down, he knew exactly how the conversation would go.

Dan

Only ppl I talk to are u guys

Sam

That's literally so sad

Y would you admit that

Dan

Yeah screw you to

My new school is huge it's impossible to meet anyone

I don't wanna join some random friend group

Sam

You literally joined us

Tuck

What about that kid you told us about????

Dan

Who? The random intern??

Sam

Who else idiot

Dan

Idk he seems busy all day

He's in like all of my classes but we've never even talked

Wouldn't it be weird to talk to him by now?

Tuck

Dude if you dont make a stupid friend and play this stupid game I'm gonna go crazy

Sam

If you dont shut up about it I'M going insane

His cursor blinked over the text box for a while, waiting for new words to get typed out as he thought about what to say.

Yeah he wanted to make new friends, who doesn't when they move to a new place?

Jaz never shut up about it either, she was really shoving it in that he should open up more and that "this is a fresh start!"

His computer lit up as another message popped on to the screen.

Tuck

CRUD

LAUGHED TO LOUD

PARENTS AWAKE BYE

tuck left the chat

Sam

I'm going to bed

Goodnight Danny

He smiled typing back,

Dan

Night Sam

Tell Tucker I'll play it soon

Sam

Just talk to him at school tomorrow

Dan

I'm literally a million miles away

Sam

No that kid at stark tower dumbass

Dan

Oh

Idk

Sam

Just do it

Compliment his shirt or something

Dan

Great advice

Sam

Yeah whatever

Night doofus

Dan

Night dork

Sam left the chat

His laptop stayed open as he reread the chat over and over, balancing his chair on its back two legs.

He fell asleep at his desk, waking up to his sister yelling down the hallway that be better be ready.

His face shot up, his cheek covered in drool with unfinished math homework stuck to it, the pen smudged from the liquid completely covering the equations.

He tossed it into the bin before wiping his face and yawning, he was never going to finish it anyway.

He passed out in his clothes from school yesterday so he just walked right out the door, Jaz was wearing a new sweater with her old blue headband grabbing his arm and bringing him downstairs greeting mom and dad, who seemed also in a rush.

Mom swung a bag over her shoulder and wandered to the table where Danny began to eat breakfast, bending down kissing his cheek and fixing his hair she spoke calm and soft like normal.

"How'd you sleep?"

"Fine." he shrugged shoveling cereal into his mouth.

Mom left the kitchen reminding dad to grab the plans of some new ghost gadget prototype, something Danny knew he was going to be running from weeks from now when it finished.

"Swing around Stark tower after school, alright you two? We can use extra hands around the lab"

The siblings both called out an "alright" as mom and dad shut the door outside, they left the house early in the morning and stayed in the private lab Tony stark gifted to them until sundown, sometimes even until morning the next day.

Because of his parents absence the house was unsettlingly quiet, no sounds of machinery and tools hitting things downstairs anymore like back at Amity.

Things were fancy now, with actual funding and safety guidelines, not like his parents really followed them.

Jaz sat across from him at the table, squinting at him which always meant she had something annoying to say.

"What?" Danny blurted swallowing surgery marshmallows.

"Somethings bothering you" she leaned back, arms crossed, her face softened back to normal, this time with slight worry.

"No? I'm fine"

"You look tired, and no offence but you also kind of look like crap"

"Thanks" he looked back down, swirling his spoon around his slightly pink colored milk as he ate the last bite before pushing his chair out and drinking the last of it.

"Listen Danny-" there she goes. "I know this was a pretty big move and I was a little worried to at first, but I genuinely think this could be good for you."

He sat his bowl and spoon by the sink, making a mental note to do the dishes when he got home.

He often chose to ignore his sisters therapy rants, she'd been nonstop pestering him ever since they got there as if it would make him feel any better than he did.

"You should join a club at school, meet somebody." she smiled at him, getting her bag from under her seat and following him out the door.

They walked together to the subway, Jaz held the back of his backpack to not lose him in the crowd.

"I have friends in the debate club, im sure they'd-"

"Ugh Jaz I don't want pity friends, I feel pitiful enough on my own." he complained as they stopped at the train station, the long tunnels on either side seemed to go on forever.

Amity had train tracks but no trains, Danny loved going down there and following the tracks with Sam and Tucker until late at night;

he recalled the lake they always passed, skipping rocks and pushing each other in, he would come home drenched and his parents would be pissed.

He really missed that lake.

The train ride was the same everytime, cramped and awful.

He held onto his sisters arm who held onto the hoop for balance, it always embarrassed him how he couldn't reach them, he barely touched them with his fingertips even on his toes.

The two had to cross the football field just to go around the building to the main entrance, surprisingly Danny nearly stopped in his tracks seeing the intern boy right at the front.

A girl with curly hair held her arm around him, and a shorter boy smiled while talking to them both.

He remembered Sam's advice, compliment his shirt.

He wore a black T with something from starwars on the front, some kind of alien thing? Of course starwars had to be the one space related thing he knew nothing about.

His face grew hot as they passed by, he opened his mouth to say something to him but he only watched as he grew further away.

He chickened out, and Jaz left him alone after seeing a large group of other girls passing by, of course she made friends faster than him.

The day went on and the boy was something he kept running into somehow.

They had the same math and gym class, they were right next to each other in the locker room yet Danny still stayed silent.

In math the closest he got to a conversation was asking for a pencil, which he forgot to give back. Maybe he could use it as an excuse to speak again at the tower.

Finally with the last bell he was free to slip away to the bathroom and fly out of there.

And what do you know, he bumped into the intern once more there.

He carried his bag in front of him, and when noticing Danny he zipped it up in a rush and ran out of there like he had somewhere to be.

Ignoring the awkward situation his body went intangible as he floated through the roof, flying away from the building and towards the city was always a nice sight, pulling out his phone he shot a picture sending it to the group chat.

The one thing he loved about new York was the tall buildings, flying past, between, and through them was something so nicely different from Amity park.

Sure they had tall hotels, apartments and even cell towers to challenge the height he was at but it was nothing like this.

He always felt just as big as they were, seeing himself through the reflective windows.

Lost in his thoughts he nearly screamed as something red and blue flew right through him, turning and seeing it grow further away hearing a loud "thwip" echo past.

Now this looked interesting.

He quickly gave chase, following the mystery person watching as they flipped and spun through the air like an acrobatic master far more graceful than Phantom ever could.

He caught up quickly, the face of this person was masked with black and white eyes that looked robotic, and also familiar in a way.

The masked person swung closer to the road, dragging their hand across the pavement and letting go of some kind of web to jump between moving cars before flipping and shooting something white from their wrist with a loud woop.

It was almost hard to keep up with the energetic acrobat, just as he was about to give up the mystery hero stopped to land right on the side of a fire escape.

The hero pulled out a phone lifting his mask above his mouth showing a smile underneath.

He was clearly out of breath, he slouched while texting, his eyes widened and he stared right at Phantom nearly scarring him into retreating.

He finally spoke, "is.. Is somebody here?" he mumbled hesitantly.

Danny debated with himself for a moment before making himself visible again, his hand on his hip as he waved.

"You caught me" he smiled inviting himself to sit down next to the stranger.

"Woah! How did you-"

He was clearly impressed, before panicking and pulling his mask over his mouth again, quickly standing, but he stood sideways against the railing instead of falling like anyone else would.

"Awesome! how are you doing that? Sticky boots? Is it that white stuff?" Danny asked looking down at him still sitting on the rail.

"You’re a ghost!" the stranger shouted, the eyes of his mask going wide again.

"No! Really!?" Phantom teased, acting surprised.

"I never knew! That's crazy!" he laughed to himself gliding down and pretending to lay mid air with his hands behind his head next to the red and blue stranger.

Well, they were talking now, might as well make a friend.

"I'm Phantom, or ghost boy, or halfla- I have a lotta names"

The stranger stuttered, "uhh, hi?"

"No name?" Phantom asked.

"Oh- I'm uh, Spider-man.. Or Spidey, or webhead, I also have a few names"

"Alrighty Spidey," Danny watched as spider-man calmed down, sitting normally again and lifting his mask once more.

"You fly round' these parts often?"

"Yeah, more than you think." he let out a nervous chuckle, somehow in the back of his mind he thought maybe the guy knew he lived there.

"I thought ghosts attacked the living? y-you know im alive right?"

"Yeah I know, I guess I'm just not like other ghosts" he shrugged, sitting next to his new friend this time without him trying to run away.

"Dude, back to the important stuff- how'd you stick to the rail like that? And that white stuff is awesome, pause."

Spider-man laughed at his dirty joke, crossing his leg over his knee and smiling as he explained.

"It's webbing, and the sticking to walls thing is a long story- in short it's just something I can do, not boots."

"Worm," he nodded before it clicked in his mind, "oh-! Spider-man! I get it! Cause your like a spider, duh." he felt dumb for not getting it sooner.

Spidey just nodded along, "and your Phantom because your a phantom I'm guessing?"

"Nah, it just sounds cool"

"Oh."

"I'm fuckin with you, yeah that's why."

He felt a short vibration in his pocket, pulling his phone out he blurted a curse at the text.

"Ghosts have phones?" spider-man asked slightly amused.

"I told you-" he put his phone away, "I'm not like other ghosts."

He waved before flying away, leaving his new friend slightly more confused than before.

Jaz texted asking where he was, he had completely forgotten he had to help his parents at Stark tower.

He hid behind a dumpster in a nearby alley and ran, the double doors sliding open as he nearly bumped into a tall ginger women,

"Sorry!" he passed by rushing to the elevator and pressing the button impatiently before the doors closed shut.

The lab was full, his parents, sister, a few employees and even Tony Stark himself crowded around a large table.

"There he is!" his dad called out seeing Danny standing awkwardly in the doorway.

Danny pulled out an empty chair next to Jaz who held her head in her hand, clearly not interested in whatever meeting the adults were having.

His parents showed the room plans and concepts of new Fenton gadgets, a captain America shield with a built in Fenton Thermos, a bow made for ectoplasm filled trick arrows that acts as a net, even guns that shoot ectoplasmic bullets.

Oh joy, Danny thought, more things for me to almost die to.

He pulled out his homework and doodled on the empty sides for a while, he found himself drawing his masked friend, along with ghosts he's fought including skulker, technus, ember, even a little box ghost doodle.

He always liked drawing even if he wasn't good at it, it was still fun.

His phone went off again and he looked around, with everyone busy he sneakily pulled his phone out hiding it under the table reading the message.

Tuck

Did you talk to him yet?

Of course, now he had to tell his friends about him chickening out.

He giggled a bit to loud, his dad put a hand on his shoulder.

"Danny, why don't you do work in the other room?"

When he said it , Danny swore he heard a hint of annoyance but that could have been his head making him think badly.

He didn't argue though, he took his stuff and left finding a sofa to lay on with his phone hanging above his face.

And the conversation continues.

Dan

They'll find out soon enough and honestly I'm worried :/ the shit they're making is crazy advanced and Im not allowed in the lab long enough to figure out any counters

The chat went silent which only made him more anxious that he said to much or said something wrong.

His arm was numb from holding it in the air, so he let it rest for a while until he got another notification.

Sam

Sorry grabbed some water
