Chapter 37
Naruto wasn't sure what she was expecting from his reaction. Confusion. Anger. Betrayal. Really, she wasn't off to a good start with what she was expecting but really, she knew he was more mature than she was at times.
What she was clearly forgetting, he wasn't Sasuke. He wouldn't up and leave when things got difficult for him or wouldn't go his way.
She should have known he was still Shisui no Shunshin, the smart yet carefree teen who gave his life for his clan and people.
But most importantly, she should have remembered he was a big dork and that all he'd do was shrug and try to go sleep.
Naruto looked on mildly affronted and gave him a light smack to the chest. "Could you be serious here?" Whilst she sounded and looked to be angry, her heart was beating like wild still. Shisui could feel it, his sharingan activating as he but his lower lip, red tomoe eyes swirling as he gazed at his lover.
"I am being serious. I'm taking it seriously. So I'm the reincarnation of the man who is your brother? How scandalous."
She gave him a flat look, "Your soul and my souls are brothers so there's nothing scandalous about it."
"I don't know... it sounds pretty iffy to me." He teased her with a grin.
"You know what's iffy. I once slept with this set of twins back in Kusa thinking they were the same person but nope, two different people and different times then the same time. I wasnt even the least bit offended when they went at it. Looked like i was just the excuse." She looked mildly offended by this, but hey what they want to do is their business.
Incest was pretty normal in clans and shinobi bloodlines.
Shisui let out a loud laugh which slowly resided into a low chuckle. He tightened his arms around her and forced to to lay down with him. His sharingan still activated.
"You know your doujutsu is active still right?" He nodded his head in reply. "Any particular reason why, cause all this swirling is making my head spin a bit."
He bit his looked away from her but not quick enough where she didn't see his blush. "Between both of our duties and keeping us a secret... I don't get you to myself very often. I figured if I used the sharingan I'd be able to placate myself enough where I won't feel the need to kiss you all the time." Naruto closed her eyes as she leaned against him again.
She knew he didn't mean to make her guilty but once again the pool of guilt flooded her to her throat.
Luckily she already had a plan for that, they just needed to bide their time.

Fugaku stood across his son after having opened the door to his bedroom.
Fugaku had been subjected to a lot during his life. Baby sitting drunken men, drunken women, out of hand shinobi, war, torture and interrogations, missions, Genin and of course d rank mission.
He had also dealt with fan girls.
Overall he had seen a lot.
He knew he was by no means the best father ever but at least he was far more involved in his children's lives than some of his graduating class. He was definitely more involved than his own father had been.
Yet this was not something he had anticipated. His 11 year old son under a red face girl. Clearly, her being on top of his son had been an accident considering he had heard a bang and complaining before opening the door, but still.
It was what it looked like that was concerning him.
Sighing he went into the room and offered his hand to the brunette who readily took the offered support to get off his son. Itachi got up on his own as Fugaku made sure she was fine.
"Father-" itachi began however Fugaku raised his hand to stop him.
"I know you were not doing anything. I heard the fall. This was clearly an inopportune moment for me to enter your room and I hold neither of you accountable for this accident. Unless, of course there is something I ought to know?" He stated more than asked.
The young girl with a smile. Unlike her mother she was quite a calm girl and for that he was happy. "There is something you ought to know father."
If it was what he thought it was, his wife owed him 50 ryo.
"The two of us are dating."
Ha! Mikoto and the girls mother both owed him 50 each. He held back a satisfied smirk and gave the young girl a nod. "I will need to speak with you and your mother. Worry not. It is not my way of trying to get you away from my son but to instead explain some things so there is not any misunderstanding or broken hearts over what I have to discuss."
When she nodded Fugaku gave them both a curt nod each and went back to his wife, satisfaction on his face as he recalled what had gone on and his wife begrudgingly handed him his money. This was the second time this week.

Kushina sat beside Mikoto in the Uchiha district. The Ame three had insisted she take a short break from the kids to spend time with her friends and considering she was a retired kunoichi, there was very few of her friends she could spend time with.
Of course she could spend time with the other clan matriarchs however she already saw them often. It was a rare moment whenever she got to see Mikoto.
They had been discussing their relatives and family however it had taken a turn from calm to heated when they got into the subject of Naruto.
Mikoto was under the misguided impression, in Kushinas mind at least, that Naruto was better suited for Shisui however Kushina very much believed she was better suited for Kakashi.
"Kakashi and Naruto complement each other far better. Theres also the added bonus that there is no conflict of interest. If naruto and Shisui got together, there's be more faffing than a supposed relationship would take."
"I disagree. Whilst I do like Kakashi I do not believe he is best suited for her. He has a lot of childhood scars and whilst naruto hasn't had the perfect past, she needs someone less damaged than her for." Replied the ever calm matriarch. "Also, if it's through love, I believe anything is worth it."
Kushina bit off her reply to that, knowing full well she wasn't going to win that against the woman you married a man who was promised to another.
After that, the conversation calmed and went back to safer territory, how their children were doing in the academy.

One month later- mid october.

Minato sat with the shinobi council discussing trivial matters and routine updates which would later be written, signed and archived away.
One might think these were unnecessary but Minato thought differently, it gave everyone within and without a clan to speak up about matters as representatives were either clan heads or team leaders.
There were also teachers from the academy for the monthly meetings.
By all means, this very normal and monthly meeting should have ended a short while ago once Shikaku gave his summarised update of the shinobi ranks and also summarised the meeting notes.
That wasn't the case.
Instead, his sister turned daughter stood in front of the shinobi council with a request. One he didn't know was even going on.
"I'm currently in a relationship with another shinobi and I have kept it mostly a secret. Whilst people have known I'm in a relationship, no one is aware of who I am with. I'm requesting permission from the council to publicly be with my lover. Before anyone asks why this is necessary for me to ask, the person I am with is in a clan and this could cause conflict which I do not want."
She stood unflinchingly before them all, including the old bats on the council who looked to be ready to speak out however they were stopped when Hiashi stood, "I believe I speak for a majority within the council today when I say, no matter who you are with, it will not cause conflict nor distrust within the shinobi clans which constitute 85% of the shinobi ranks." Hiashi gave a short bow before taking his seat again.
Homura was about to stand and speak again yet he was beaten too it by Tsume, "Shag who you wanna Shah. No need to hide it from us." She gave a shrug and really, she shouldn't be saying that considering the rumours being spread about her. Very false rumours mind you.
This time, Koharu was about to speak but Raido stood and spoke, "As a representative of the 15% civilian shinobi sector I can say that no one will question who you are with nor the motives of this. No one shall judge you nor shall they believe there to be any favouritism upon the clans and this particular clan. It is public knowledge of your long standing relationship with Kakashi Hatake and no one said anything in regards to that." He gave his teammate a nod before once again taking a seat.
Minato was still unsure where he stood on this but knew he had to speak or one of the three vultures was going to say something, "You have the permission of the shinobi council to bring your relationship to the public's knowledge and if any of the people should question the intent they can come to the council or their representatives with this information to bring forth. Does anyone have any other meeting points to add or can we call this meeting adjourned?" He asked, knowing that if he said it like that, the Three would be unable to get a word in.
When no one said anything, minato flagged for everyone to leave and return home. Minato didn't hide how pleased he was with his council for intervening each time the elders were going to say something against Naruto being in a relationship.
At the reminder of that little fact, he scowled. He knew he couldn't ask Shisui nor Kakashi who she was seeing as it would be a breach of trust placed within the council. Anything said in the council stayed within the council.

Shisui was exhausted. He had just returned from his mission with team Ro, minus Naruto who was reporting between each of the nations to try and get the signing date and place confirmed. So far she got the place covered, the Land of Iron once again offering to hold the five Kage summit as a neutral country with no shinobi.
He was currently the one briefing the clan officials and civilian shinobi representatives of this missions report as it had to do with the group that was forming with rogue and high profile shinobi and kunoichi.
"We believe they are gathering in the barren land past the land of Stone between the lands of Earth and Sand as that was the direction they fled to, to further that assumption, they were bands on their arms similar to our hitai-ate with their own symbols. They do not correlate to any of the known villages. Of course, it could be a ruse to throw us off but that was not what occurred in my genjutsu." The only reason he was so comfortably saying that was because his girlfriend wasn't here or so help him shinigami, she would show no mercy.
Thinking of naruto for a brief moment made him realise it was his birthday today and Naruto had sent her summons to him during his mission stating she had a surprise he was going to love for his birthday and he couldn't wait. Her surprises usually came in the form of amazing, heavenly food and a gift. She always manages to outdo herself each year.
Although, he mused, last year her gift to him had been a surprise return to Konoha and her getting him off duty for a few days.
"Thankyou for your prompt return, your thoughts and ideas as well as as your full report. Congratulations for the completion of your mission especially on a shorter time than that anticipated-" team Ro looked to Shisui who had rushed them to complete the mission and return as soon as possible to be home for his birthday and the uchiha was glad he had a mask on to hide his blush.
"-and as such, you have all earned a week off. Enjoy it." Team Ro bowed to their Kage and were about to leave but then Naruto arrived the same moment the team took off their masks.
She looked to each of them and her eyes brightened when she saw Shisui and the uchiha had no control over his reaction. His sharingan activated and recorded his lover.
She was dressed up. A black and red dress ending at her knees with a heart neckline as she wore a mesh vest under it and mesh leggings. Her was also wearing the earrings he had once brought her years ago as Genin and the necklace he got for her last birthday which he had given via summons since he had been away.
She was holding what looked to be official documents and walked towards what she assumed was the desk however she stopped next to him to give him a kiss, a small smile "Welcome home, my love." Before smiling wider and wrapped her arm into his.
She placed her documents on the desk and spoke, "I've got all my documents I needed signing signed. The official date for the next give Kage summit shall be on October 25th in the land of Iron. Their chief has given us all strict rules to be obeyed which are the documents here." She waved to the documents she gave the godaime however the room was in pin drop silence and Shisui doubted anyone was listening to her.
Shisui for one was doubting he was even alive at this point.
Because there was no way Naruto had gone up to him, kissed him, called him her love and latched herself onto him whilst dressed like that.
Nope.
Dead.
"I do believe I am owed a great deal of money." Was the first thing said and it was said by the Nara head. Looking over, Shikaku looked to be very smug and pleased with himself to having won the sum of money he was owed for whatever reason.
Groans could be heard from everyone however there was a distinct snap that drew in Shisuis attention. The yondaime hokage, Naruto's father, had broken his hiraishin kunai.
Shisui gulped for dear life.
Naruto gave the yondaime a fake and quite frankly scary smile, "Is something wrong Minato?" She asked in a sickening sweet voice and the elder blonde simply grit his teeth and shook his head, no. "Well then, since that's everything, I'll be spending the day celebrating my boyfriends birthday. Dont disturb us." The looks she gave him was murderous however if looks could truly kill, shisui was sure both he and Naruto would be dead for tying Minatos hands like this.
