Chapter 4
⚡Barry’s pov
“Alright everyone we have two months till nationals and we need song ideas,” Luke said. way to chipper for 8:00 in the morning on a Saturday. As I pondered how he could be this awake right now, Luke had written song ideas on the board. “How about I See The Light?” Lily asked with a smile
“Good idea Lily but Disney songs are the go-to for a lot of choirs so we need to stand out,” Luke said and what he said was the truth a lot and i mean a lot of choirs use Disney songs and after a while, the judges get bored of it. “And standing out can give us an advantage whether it be clothing, dance, or song chorus,” Iris added in.
“So what you're saying is that we need to do stuff that will make us stand out so the judges notice us?” Lily said catching on “yeah standing out to the judges is something that can give us a big enough advantage to win.” I say looking at her. “But if we stand out too much it could affect how the judges see us” Eddie adds in “so we have to find a perfect balance so we can catch their eyes.” Luke finishes off for his twin
“I can see why you four are best friends, you guys can practically read each other's minds,” Max says looking at us four. And yeah that was true the four of us have been friends since the fourth grade. There hadn't been a time since then that we didn't talk for more than a week.
“Were the Fantastic Four” Luke said smiling and everyone laughed at the stupid pun. The smile on his face made my heart melt a little.
“Yeah yeah we get it were like the four musketeers now let's get back on track,” Iris said with pho seriousness and everyone laughed. So that's what we did. We bounced around song ideas but nothing seemed to fight right with the two we had all read planned out before regionals for if we won.
“So it’s between Believer, Last Christmas, I'm blue, singing in the rain, let me down easy, and put a little love in your heart. Iris read off the list that had been compiled in the last fifteen minutes and if you're wondering who said last Christmas it was eddie.
“None of these songs really go with our two other songs don't you think?” Andy said well “we still have some time till we have to give the list of songs but your right these songs don't go well with the others especially Last Christmas” Iris said to Andy then tordes the end gave Eddie a look.
“You've been dating me for 5 months and have known me for seven years. You should know that I was joking!” Eddie said, slightly hysterical. I laughed at how scared Eddie looked cuz Iris’s looks could scare FBI agents.
“Eddie leave the Christmas songs for Christmas and Iris don’t kill my idiot of a brother please.” Luke said not even looking up from the set list. He is probably the only one in existence that could resist Iris’s glare for longer than 30 seconds.
“Okay fine, Bar you got an idea for the song for nationals aside from Singing in The Rain,” I look up not expecting to be brought into the conversation “Um well we could make a song” I say with it being the only thing that i could come up with.
Everyone paused thinking over the idea “that's actually a really good idea, why didn't we think of that sooner?” Eddie asked the room.
“Because Barry is a genius and geniuses think outside the box” Luke said as he wrote “write a song” on the board. Luke's comment made me blush a little. He said it without even an ounce of hesitation. “Ok so who thinks that we should make a song?” Luke said, turning away from the bored. Everyone in the room raised their hands. “Ok then we are writing a song. How about how ever we want to make a song, make it a little and we will choose the one we like the most next week? Luke said after a moment of thought
And before I knew it everyone was sitting on the floor working with each other or alone on songs. Iris and I are working on a song together and Eddie and Luke are working on their own song. And I completely forgot that I was not a morning person.
