“Just Say what you want.”]”
The pebble’s world had always been small, confined to the inside of a single room, deep within the walls.
Pink had always said that they deserved better, but they insisted they were happy buildings things for her.
When the news came that they didn’t have to stay anymore, most decided to anyway, for fear of the danger of worlds they were much too small for.
However, some decided to try and see what else was out there.
Pebble 27 and quite a few of her sisters got a ride with Pink Zircon, who was headed to Earth.
32 asked Zircon who she was going to see, to which she responded ‘an old friend.’
When the door of the ship opened, the sky was bright. 27 ran off the ship, careful not to be underfoot.
There were tall green things as big as she was, and it felt like an adventure.
“Pebble!”
27 looked up, seeing a familiar human. “Steven!” She called, and he picked her up in his hands.
“Welcome to Earth! Are all of you here?”
“Only some of us!” 27 responded. “It’s so big here!”
“If there’s so many of you around, do you want a nickname?”
“A nickname?”
“Something for you to go by! Something almost no one else has.”
“How about button?” He asked, pointing to the round gem on her chest.
“I love it!” She said excitedly.
Some of the other pebbles called for Steven, wanting ‘nicknames’ of their own. He laughed, setting Button down and carefully sitting down.
Button looked around, before seeing gems that were as small as pebbles, but more colorful.
“Hello!” She called.
The one colored white and gold laughed, and the grey and black one smiled.
“Hello.” The gold one said.
Button looked around, at the tall green and the massive gems all around them.
“It’s so… big here.” She said, suddenly nervous about getting stepped on and shattered.
“It is.” The grey one said.
“But…” the gold one said, taking Button’s hands in her own reassuringly. “…You get to be whatever you want, here.”
“But…” Button hesitated, not used to sharing her thoughts.
“But what?” The grey one asked.
“Just say what you want. We’ll listen.” The gold one said with a smile.
“What if I still want to build things?” Button asked hesitantly, and the two of them smiled.
“Then you can!” They grey one cheered.
Button smiled. “Alright! I’m Button, now!” She said, holding out her hand again.
The golden one laughed, and the grey one put her arm around her.
“Haven.” The golden one said, shaking her hand.
“Earla.” The grey one said.
Button smiled big.
