Chapter 4: The Crisis
When the project was nearly complete, an unexpected problem arose: the artificial intelligence module of the system began malfunctioning. The algorithms, designed to adapt to the user’s needs, started to overload, threatening to disable the prosthetics.
The pressure was immense. Ellen worked frantically to repair the system, but memories of her own past as a survivor of an AI-driven exploitation system tormented her.
Anya, noticing her growing anxiety, intervened.
"Ellen, stop for a moment," she said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I can’t stop! If I don’t fix this, all the work will be for nothing, and Curly will be the one to pay the price."
"We’ll fix it together," Anya insisted. "But you can’t let fear control your decisions. Trust your abilities. Trust me."
Ellen took a deep breath, trying to calm down. For the first time, she allowed Anya to guide her. They worked together for hours, combining their knowledge to find a solution. In the end, they succeeded. The system was repaired, and the prosthetics worked perfectly.
