Lucifer (Supernatural
Moving to America was one of the worst, and best, decisions she had ever made. After her adventures in the Feudal Era came to an end, the priestess decided she needed a change. She studied the American language for several years while saving her money.
After a few years of saving and studying, she was finally able to move on with her life. Kagome Higurashi left Japan to live her life in America.
She moved to a small town called Lawrence Kansas. Her first year of living there was great. The people were nice and supportive, some of them even helping her with English words she struggled with.
The Shikon No Tama safely resided in a locked box stashed behind a painting in the wall. She slapped a sealing Sutra on the box itself just in case.
After that year, however, things started changing. It started during one of her shifts when a man waltzed in and took a seat at the counter in the nearly empty diner...
Kagome cautiously approached the man. Something was off with him, but she wasn't entirely sure. Her powers began to resurface and she had to fight to keep them in check, in case the strange man could sense her.
"What can I get for you?" she asked the man.
"Coffee, black."
"Anything else?"
The man leaned forward with a smirk, "How about you on the side?"
Kagome let out a laugh, "Sorry buddy, not gonna happen." Kagome turned away and let out a sigh of relief. Being around this strange man was giving her anxiety. "It's almost as if I sense a demon, but demons don't exist in this time... right?" She smiled as she handed him his cup of coffee.
"Enjoy!"
She turned away, but he jumped up and grabbed her wrist, "Come on sweetheart. Come have a little fun with me and the boys."
Kagome scowled, "I believe I already told you no."
She could see the man begin to grow angry and she tried to pull her arm free, but his grip was like iron.
"I believe the lady said no," a voice suddenly said, his hand resting on the stranger's shoulder. A look of fear crossed the attacker's face as he gazed upon the newcomer.
"I didn't even hear him come in, much less sense his presence."
"S-Sir-" "I think it's best if you leave."
The man quickly released Kagome's wrist and fled the small diner.
"Ah, thanks." Kagome rubbed her sore wrist.
"Not a problem," the man smiled at her, "Can't walk away when a damsel is in distress, now can I?" he gave her a wink.
Kagome flushed and quickly gathered the coffee cup that was still full. She muttered thanks before taking off to clean the dishes.
Ever since that day, she often saw the same man come into the diner. He specifically requested her to be his waitress. It became a daily routine. She learned his name was Nick after he had written his number on a napkin, which she promptly threw away.
"So," he sat across from the priestess while she was on break, "Where are you from?"
"I'm from Japan, actually."
"Oh?" he raised a curious eyebrow, "What brings you all the way to America?"
Kagome shrugged, "I needed a change of scenery."
"Well, Kagome, I don't think I've ever seen a blue-eyed Japanese woman. Quite unique."
Kagome laughed, "So I've been told."
It was silent for a moment before he cleared his throat, "Say, why not let me take you out to dinner?"
"Like... on a date?" she questioned. Sure a lot of guys hit on her, but no one had the balls to step up and ask her on a date.
He shrugged, "Why not?"
"Sure." she agreed.
He grinned, "Great! I'll pick you up at say, eight?"
"Uh, yeah. Sure." Nick winked at her and gave her his phone number. He paid for his beverage and left.
Kagome could only stare at the slip of paper in her hand. Nick was sweet, charming, considerate, and gorgeous. "Everything Inuyasha wasn't."
Her boss allowed Kagome to leave early after discovering she had a date. Kagome quickly kicked off her shoes and jumped in the shower.
She applied just a tad bit of makeup and slipped on a black dress, nothing fancy. This was their first date after all and she wanted to test the waters.
She texted him her address and sure enough, he was waiting outside her door. "Milady," he offered her arm to her, which she gladly took. He then began his stroll down the street.
"We're walking?" Kagome questioned.
"Yeah. I figured it was a nice night to take a stroll. Besides, it's not fat, just around the corner. Is that okay?"
"Oh! Yeah, of course! I wasn't trying to complain or anything. I don't mind at all, it's just different."
He grinned at her and led her to the nicest restaurant Lawrence had to offer. "It's nearly impossible to get a reservation at this place, especially on such late notice."
Nick pulled the chair out for her, "Let's just say the owner owes me a favor."
Their date was filled with jokes and laughter. The food was amazing and Nick was everything she'd ever wanted.
"So, Kagome, what is your home like?"
"Well, I lived in a Shrine."
"Ah, a shrine maiden," he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Yes yes," she laughed, "On a shrine with mom, my brother Souta, and my grandfather. Every Time I brought a friend home, he slaps a sutra on their fore heard yelling 'begone demon!'"
Nick let out a laugh, "Did you have a boyfriend or a romantic interest before moving here?"
Kagome's smile fell. She knew he was going to ask sooner or later, "Sorta."
"You don't have to tell me," he took ahold of her hand, "I shouldn't have asked. I apologize for bringing up a touchy subject."
"No no, it's okay!" Kagome took a deep breath, "I was involved with someone. Things were going great, at first. And then his ex shows back up into his life. Everyone said that we looked strikingly similar, but she was far more beautiful. I didn't hate her of course. He grew distant and could only see her in me. So, I left."
"Well, Kagome. This guy sure is missing out because you are by far the most beautiful girl I have ever met. Both here in America and Japan."
Kagome smiled, "Well, thanks. I appreciate it. Really. What about you?"
Nick told her about his wife and son and how they were no longer together. Kagome even shed a tear for him.
"Well, thank you for the lovely evening. I had a wonderful time."
"Anytime," he squeezed the hand that was interlocked with his own. "Well, here we are." He said as they stopped before her apartment.
"So we are."
"Kagome," Nick stepped closer to her and lifted her face to stare straight into her blue eyes, "I want to keep seeing you, but not as a date or a friend, but as a... significant other."
Kagome stared at him processing his words slowly. "L-like a boyfriend?"
"Exactly!"
She bit her bottom lip before a smile graced her beautiful face and she nodded.
"R-Really?" she nodded again, "You have just made me the happiest man to ever walk this Earth!" Nick proceeded to lean down and press a quick, and surprising, kiss to her lips before running down the sidewalk. She heard the echoes of his 'Woohoo!'
Kagome laughed before unlocking her door and stepping inside.
Another year passed and strange things kept happening, more so since she started dating Nick. The people that surrounded him always felt off somehow. Like they were human, but not really.
"Boss," Kagome overheard one of the guys speaking lowly to Nick. They assumed she couldn't hear them and she wanted to keep it that way.
"Are you sure... about her?" he motioned toward Kagome who was humming a tune while cleaning a table.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" Nick leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest.
"W-Well," the other man swallowed nervously. She noticed that the men that hung around never stayed for too long and were always very very tense around him, "She's a liability. What if the Winchesters find her?"
Nick scoffed, "They won't."
"Kagome! You have a customer waiting!"
"Be right there!" she mentally cursed as she made her way to the counter.
A few days passed when things turned for the worse. She was working a regular shift. Two young boys sat at the other end of the diner, the smaller one kept staring at her with bedroom eyes and look her up and down. Kagome ignored him.
She did, however, overhear their conversation.
"Dean... Dean! Stop staring at the waitress, we've got bigger things to worry about." Kagome didn't see his expression but she could only guess that Dean was not on the same page by the way the taller guy sighed "The freaking apocalypse? Tracking Lucifer here? Anything?"
Before the one known as Dean could answer, Kagome intervened. She slid into the booth, scooting Dean over so she was directly in front of Sam.
"So sorry to interrupt, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. When you say, Lucifer... you mean the devil?"
Sam and Dean exchanged looks.
"No, no of course not," Dean said, "Lucifer is, uh, a relative."
"That we do not like."
"You two are terrible liars. How about you try again."
"Now, what makes you think that we are gonna tell you anything?" Dean gave her an intense glare, "How do we know you're even human? You could be a demon for all we know."
"Demon?" Kagome scoffed, "Demons aren't real. If they were, I'd be able to sense them."
"What are you, a psychic?" Dean asked.
"Something like that." she winked.
A moment after that, Sam was pulled from the seat he was sitting in and a knife put to his throat.
"Sammy!"
"Hey! Let him go!" Kagome and Dean stood up from their seats.
"Let him go you son of a bitch!"
"Ah, ah, ah, wouldn't want anything to happen to your precious little brother, now do you?" the man smirked as he pressed the knife against his throat. "You're outnumbered." Everyone residing in the diner stood up and their eyes turned black.
"Demons…" Kagome whispered. Dean pushed Kagome behind him.
"Sam and Dean Winchester. So nice of you to drop in." An all too familiar voice spoke from the doorway. "I gotta say, you two never seem to give up. Let me guess, you came all the way here to kill me? Well, not going to happen."
"You think you're going to leave here riding my brother? I don't think so, pal." Dean growled.
"What the hell is going on here? Why are you here, Nick?" Kagome stepped out from behind Dean and approached the man.
"Hey!" Dean grabbed her arm, "He's dangerous."
"He's my boyfriend, so if you'll excuse me!" She yanked her arm out of his grasp.
"What the hell? You got yourself a girlfriend?" To say the Winchesters were shocked would be an understatement.
"What can I say?" Lucifer shrugged his shoulders and reached out to Kagome, but she stayed just out of reach.
"What's going on? Why are there demons here? I thought demons were all extinct."
"I'll tell you what's going on. You've been sleeping around with Satan himself."
"Nick? Is that true? Are you actually...Lucifer?" her voice squeaked a little.
"Allow me to formally introduce myself. It's nice to meet you, I'm Lucifer."
