Chapter 13
“Alright, now tell me your name and the two other things I want to know.” Kuroo said.
You couldn’t answer. You were speechless, shocked.
You had the thought that he was Kuroo, but for some reason it was ten times more shocking than you had expected to be when those words left his mouth.
“I…uh..uhm…I…” You started, still feeling shocked.
“Mhm?” He encouraged.
When you finally started coming back to yourself, you started thinking how you were going to answer him.
He said something about how you were wearing his school’s uniform. How could that be possible?
Know what? Anything is possible at this point. Why did you bother?
You recalled back when you were watching Haikyuu. Wasn’t their school called Nekoma High, or something like that?
He grabbed your other wrist.
“Ah! What are you doing?” You flinched, being interrupted by your train of thought.
“I’m waiting for answers, and I can be impatient at times. I won’t let go until you tell me what I want to know.”
“Ah, well, to answer your second question, you see, I’m a new student at NiKOma High,”
“Alright! I’ll just stop you there! You don’t say ‘Ni,’ you say ‘Ne’ as in egg. Second, you don’t emphasize the ‘ko’ in the name. We say it short. ‘Nekoma.’ Few questions must be asked. How do you go to our school when you can’t even say the name correctly? And since you are a new student, and you are still wearing the school outfit, meaning you must have been at school today, how come I didn’t see you?” He asked.
He was really trying to test you.
How would he react if you told him how you were stuck in this stupid world, and there’s this dude named Soranagi who is keeping you here and is refusing to let you go back to your world?
No, he would not believe you.
“Well, thank you for the correction. But, I believe you said to answer the two other questions. Therefore, I refuse to answer any other questions.” You said.
“Fair, fine, those questions were mostly for me anyway. Move on to the other two.”
“I’m…uh…Y/n L/n, just Y/n is fine.” You said, basically copying what he said earlier when he told you his name.
“Oh? First names? That’s rather unusual.”
“How so?”
“You aren’t from here, aren’t you?”
“I totally am.”
“I know you're lying, so you can cut the act now.”
“I am not!” You said.
“Well, we’re not going to be sure. Maybe if you answer the last question, it may or may not determine if you’re lying or not.”
“Uh…well…”
What were you going to say?
How were you supposed to answer ‘why were you on the streets?’
‘Oh, so I was..ya know, like…taking a stroll!’
Like he’s going to believe that! Who would be taking a walk down the streets at this hour? Who would still be wearing their school uniform after what might have been hours since school ended?
“I got lost. Right after I left home, I wanted to go out for a walk. I didn’t bother changing, and I forgot to bring my phone, in case you were going to ask such questions. By the time I realized I didn’t bring my phone, it was already late at night. I started walking around to see if I could bump into a place that I’d be familiar with so that I could head home.” You came up with a neat lie.
You were quite surprised how good you were at lying. Your parents would have sniffed it out in no time because of your pathetic lies. So instead, you learned to just not tell them anything, and ignore the question, rather than lying.
But in this situation, you weren’t really given a choice.
After a couple of minutes of standing in silence, Kuroo finally spoke.
“Would you like to stay at my place?”
“Huh? Why? I have to get back to my house!”
“But you’re lost! How else am I supposed to help?”
“Call the police?” You suggested without thinking.
Then you realized. If you called the police, and told them the same lie you had told Kuroo, they could easily sniff it out. You did not have a house here. Your home is elsewhere. Probably somewhere far away.
He stayed silent for a minute.
“Come on, it's just one night! Free food and bed are provided! I’ll take responsibility!” He complained as he shook your hands.
“Could you release me now? I’ve answered all the questions that you wanted to know. A deal is a deal, ya know?” You said, trying to ignore his offers.
“No! I’m not letting go until you accept!”
“Why do you want me to go to your place anyways?” You asked.
“Well, why not?”
“Because we just met! We’re basically strangers! You’re basically asking a stranger to come to your place! Isn’t that just wrong?” You argued.
“But what’s wrong with asking a stranger to come to my place?” Kuroo replied.
“What kind of question is that?”
He shrugged.
“Look, my parents are really worried about me. Could you please let me go? I need to find a way home right now.” You said.
You weren’t lying. It was true.
“Why won’t you accept my offer?” He said, being very persistent.
“Pretty please?” You showed your puppy eyes. The same ones you used when you tried to convince your parents to buy you a phone.
There was a moment of silence.
Suddenly, Kuroo released one of your wrists, but held on to the other one. He started dragging you back where the bench was.
“Hey, what are you doing? Where are we going?” You shouted.
He stayed silent.
You were dragged past the first streetlight, also the last one before you got caught, and that’s when you had a good look at his hair.
Kuroo glanced over his shoulders back at you, and you had a good look at his face, and so did he.
His spiky, shiny black hair, his half-lidded eyes, everything about him…why were they so perfect?
“Ha…” You exhaled.
He turned back, facing the front. He kept on dragging you.
“I’m serious! Where are we headed?!” You yelled.
A minute later, you were back at the bench, except you were dragged into a house that was behind it.
The second you entered, Kuroo slammed and locked the door behind you.
“You are staying here for the night, whether you like it or not.”
“We literally just met! Why are you acting like we have known each other sin–?”
Kuroo pushed you up against the door, the same way Daichi did.
His arms trapped you in between them.
“I’m not quite sure why I’m doing this, but when I saw you, I just couldn’t help but feel possessive. And since you got caught into the palm of my hands, you might as well stay here. And I’ve got to warn you. I have no intention of letting you go. So don’t do stupid things while you here, such as trying to escape. I won’t let you.” Kuroo explained.
You felt terrified. About twenty times more terrified than when you were trapped in between Daichi’s arms.
He leaned in close to your ear.
You were petrified.
He sighed into your ear.
You cringed at the sound.
“It’s your fault.” He whispered.
You did find him attractive, and knowing Kuroo, he would probably act like this to his girlfriend or something, well, maybe not the “Imma lock you in here,” type of thing, but you did feel a lot better when you’re with him than all the other characters.
But that doesn’t mean you felt comfortable.
“Alrighty, just behave for me, and you won’t be getting punished.” He said, lifting his head and releasing you.
Of course, being the innocent human being you are, you were confused and scared by his words.
“W-what? What do you mean I’m getting p-punished?!” You stuttered as Kuroo started walking away.
“I never said you were getting punished. I said you are going to get punished if you misbehave.” Kuroo replied.
“That’s exactly what I mean!” You said.
“What do you mean by that? What, do you have a basement here where you torture people?” You continued.
Kuroo laughed in response. He stopped walking and turned to face you. There was no light in the house, and the curtains were all closed. It was hard to see him in the dark, just seeing his shadowy figure was challenging.
“No, no, darling. It’s none of that. I’m not that cruel to people, but do I believe you don’t want to find out either, considering you don’t even know what I mean by ‘punishment,’ …or maybe you would like to find out?”
You shook your head dramatically.
“I’d prefer to be dead than tortured.”
Kuroo laughed again.
“We’re going to be headed to school tomorrow, better sleep, it's past eleven already.” Kuroo said as he headed toward a table and sat down.
“Wai- no! Are you forgetting that I have a family? And what about your parents? Surely, your parents aren’t going to allow this!” You basically shouted, trying to wake Kuroo’s parents if they were there.
“Shush, you’re going to wake the neighbors. My family is out of town, and the only other person in this house right now is my best friend, Kenma.”
Sudden shock hit you on the head.
“Wha?-”
“Kuroo?” You hear someone speak. You knew for a fact that it wasn’t Kuroo’s voice.”
“Ah, here he comes.” You hear Kuroo say.
“Kuroo, have you brought another guest into MY house without MY permission?” You hear Kenma say as stairs start creaking, symbolizing that he was walking down stairs.
“Kenma, I promise it's nothing like that time. I believe you won’t regret that I brought Y/n.” Kuroo said.
“Who the hell is Y/n? What, your girlfriend?” You hear Kenma reach the bottom of the stairs.
“Nah, but she is my future-wife.”
Rose bushes of pink flooded your face.
The light switch was turned on from the kitchen.
You immediately looked away. Trying hard not to show what must be the most intense shade of red.
“Aww, she must be flattered.”
“Kuroo, who the hell is that.”
“Kenma-kun, you haven’t seen her face yet!”
“What does her face have to do with anything?”
You realized this could be the perfect opportunity to escape, you could find a dumb escuse if you get caught.
“Ah, I see I’m not welcome here, so I assume this is my cue to take my leave.” You said, turning to face the door. You felt your face cool, but you knew that even so, there were still hints of blush left over.
That idiot.
“You are not going anywhere!” You heard Kuroo get up from his seated place, but by then, you had already unlocked the door.
As you were opening the door, you heard him walking towards you.
“Kuroo,” Kenma said, as you were walking through the door.
“Let go!” Kuroo said, you turned to close the door.
Before you closed the door, you quickly peeked and saw that Kuroo was wearing a gray T-shirt and black shorts, his eyes staring intensely at Kenma. While on the other hand, Kenma was wearing a lighter shade of gray T-shirt, and wore white shorts. His eyes looked into your’s, and his hand was gripping tightly on Kuroo’s wrist that red started appearing around it.
The moment happened very briefly, about a second or so before you closed the door.
“Ah shoot” you whispered.
“He saw me.”
You were getting the hang of characters acting this way. You suspected that it was something about your face that triggered it, but you weren’t sure.
You knew that in the matter of time, both characters were going to come chasing after you.
You had to find a hiding place.
You quickly looked around to find a bike peeking out of the corner of the house.
This was both your lucky and unlucky day.
You ran over to it, and sat down on the bike. You lifted your feet and placed them on the pedals. Right after that you’ve done that, you took off.
“Oh, no you don’t!” You hear Kuroo say behind you.
You turned to look back to find that he was right on your tail.
You shrieked. Adrenaline started pumping inside of you. You started biking faster.
“You aren’t going anywhere!” You hear Kuroo shout, but by then, you’ve taken a left turn, feeling that taking a right turn would not lead you to a safe place, as it did when running away from Kageyama’s house.
After two minutes of biking, you looked behind you to check if he was still following you.
Once you’ve confirmed that it was true, you were thinking back to reality.
Okay, so you’ve discovered that Kuroo is also acting just as weird as the other characters, but you still think you are the MOST comfortable around him out of all the characters you’ve met so far…actually screw that, why’d you even think that? Obviously Hinata is the most comfortable to be around.
You’ve also discovered that you aren’t in a dream. Well, maybe you are, it's rare to feel pain in a dream, and it's not impossible to feel pain.
You’ve also discovered that you are wearing Nekoma High’s student uniform, and most probably that your face may be a problem as to why people are acting weird. You haven’t figured it out yet, but it was a possibility.
Why were you only bumping into–specifically–boys? If you’ve bumped into a female character, would they have acted the same way?
No, why did you care? You should be focusing on escaping.
That damned Soranagi.
Why would he do something like this?
Why wouldn’t he tell you?
Thinking back to your family, you wondered how old they were in the real world.
It made you sick just by thinking of how worried they probably were.
What were you going to do now?
Where are you going to go?
Are you actually going to Nekoma High?
No, that would be stupid, what if you weren’t even enrolled to that school? Then they would think that you stole their school uniform, and tried to get into the school without proper enrollment.
They’d see you as a danger.
But why else would you be wearing their school uniform?
Should you go check it out just in case?
No, it would be too risky.
You couldn’t risk trying to get into a school when there’s a possibility that you could be spending your life behind bars until who knows when Soranagi would show up.
Then, where were you supposed to go?
After about 30 minutes of biking and pondering on that question, you halted due to a familiar voice.
“Yoo hoo!”
You were alarmed and started shaking your head, spinning around to find where the voice came from.
You realized that you were in another neighborhood.
Tap, Tap, Tap.
The sound of a volleyball.
“Here!”
You turned your head towards the direction of the voice.
There you saw, a light chocolate-haired teenage boy leaning on one of the houses in an alley. He was wearing an aqua colored T-shirt and white baggy pants. He was repeatedly throwing a volleyball into the air.
You knew immediately who it was, but you reminded yourself that you had to act as if you never knew him.
You were also reminded that he saw you, your face. You had a hunch that he was going to go bizarre as all the other characters did. You didn’t want to verify.
The second you were reminded of that, you instantly lifted your feet to take off.
“Hey! That was rude! You can’t just ignore me like that!” You heard him yell playfully.
You didn’t reply, you were too focused on trying to get away.
About three seconds into riding, you heard a whoosh sound.
Something had hit your head. Hard.
Your eyes went blurry, your muscles loosened, and you felt yourself falling. You felt yourself lose consciousness quickly.
By seconds, darkness has swallowed you once again.
