Chapter 9

Purple light shone through the cracks of your closet, the room started to shake, and things from your room flew all over the place.

“Oh no, darling! I think it’s happening again!” You heard your mom call.

“I knew we should’ve had her sleep with you instead!” Your dad shouted.

You ran over to the door, and twisted the unlocked door knob as tightly as you could, but even when it was “unlocked,” you still couldn’t get the door to open.

You screamed for the door to open, and called help to mom and dad, but their voices started fading.

Blurry images flashed in your head.

You silenced yourself.

It felt as if something like this had happened to you in the past, and you weren’t sure what, or how to feel. You probably should’ve panicked, but you also, almost, were sure that this was the “thing” that you had been waiting for.

What were you waiting for, exactly?

The room stopped shaking, but the things in your room continued to circle.

Something about that didn’t feel familiar.

A piece of paper that was circling around the room, along with other things, cut your cheek.

The blurry images turned into sharp, very detailed scenes. Your brain quickly collected each one.

All the horrible memories came back to you, all thanks to that piece of paper.

The memories flooded your head, each memory finding a spot in your mind to plant in.

You fell onto the floor, forcing yourself to sit up, and hug your knees. You couldn’t feel the pain, you didn’t even bother wiping the small streak of blood running down your face.

You did not want to go back to that world again.

‘Soranagi, why?’ you thought to yourself.

“I can’t tell you the reason...at least not yet.” Soranagi’s voice bounced on walls, back and forth, back and forth, echoing the walls of your room.

“I don’t want to go back,” You quietly said.

“No need to worry, you don’t have to go back to that world, there are other worlds.” Sorangi said.

“Yea, but I saw how terrified my parents looked when I came back, and…” You stopped. A tear slipped down your cheek.

“You said I would be back ‘tomorrow,’ why did you wait for another 6 weeks?” You asked, changing the subject.

“There’s a time difference between this world, and The Land of Portals.” He said.

“What do you mean?” You asked.

“One day at The Land of Portals equals 6 weeks here on Earth.” He answered.

“Where’s The Land of Portals?”

“The place you’ve been two times, the one with the gradient red and light blue sky.”

You stayed silent, as you let the information sink in.

“I don’t wanna go to any anime world, the My Hero world was so...different...from what I expected.” You shivered at the thought of Dabi towering over you, and Tokoyami being overprotective for no reason.

“Well, you don’t have a choice right now, open your closet.”

You sat where you were. Not moving an inch of your body.

“You either go in, or I force you to go in.”

“And how could you possibly do that?”

“I did it to you last time, and I won’t hesitate to do the same thing this time.”

“But what is this ‘thing’ you're talking about?” You asked.

“Uh, well, I don’t think you’d want to know.”

“If someone asks, it usually means that they want to know,” You stated.

You hear him sigh.

“And how is your voice echoing off the walls? And how are you even talking? You aren’t even here!” You said, curiosity killed you.

“Oh wait...didn’t you say something about you won’t need any more answers? So far, I’ve answered...lemme see...pretty sure it was fourteen questions...if my memory doesn’t fail me. You owe me fourteen kisses.” He said.

You rolled your eyes.

“Definitely not happening,” You mumbled to yourself.

“It will, someday.” He quickly added.

You rolled your eyes again.

“Why won’t you just go and bother someone else?” You asked.

“Would you like to make it fifteen kisses?” He asked.

You stayed silent.

“I’ll take that as a yes, so the ans-”

“I never said yes.”

“And you never said no.”

“No thank you.”

“Fine. Fourteen kisses is still pretty good.”

“I already told you, I’m not kissing you.”

“Hmmm, well, we’ll see about that.”

There was a two second silence, that felt like eternity.

“Please open your closet.” He said.

“No.” You said.

“You sure? This ‘thing’ that I’m about to do, also lets me brainwash someone, and also lets me delete their memories” He said.

‘Brainwash’ You repeated in thought.

You shivered at the terrifying thought.

“So that’s what you tried doing last time? You said something about something ‘not working on me,’ was that it?” You asked.

“Uh, well…would you like to make it fifteen kisses?”

“Okay, alright, enough with the “kisses” thing. I get it.” You said.

“Apparently, you don’t. You’re constantly asking questions.”

“Ok, ok, fine. You’re right. Okay, so...can I at least say ‘goodbye’ to my parents?” You asked.

“No.” He answered.

“I’m afraid that’s not possible at this moment.”

“Why not?”

“Okay, either stop with your questions, unless you want to give me kisses.” He said.

“Oh my god.” You quietly mumbled as you tilted your head upwards, looking at the ceiling.

“I’m going to say this one last time, and no questions, please.” He started.

“Open your closet, and step inside.”

You really didn’t want to do what he instructed, but you also didn’t want to get brainwashed.

‘But…’

“Three.” Soranagi started, counting down.

The brainwashing didn’t work on you last time, so did that mean it would be alright to just not do what he said?

“Two.”

No, you’ll still be in an anime world at the end, very likely that the brainwashing, or losing memories thingy, would work on you. You really didn’t have a choice. Last time you blacked out, and didn’t even know how it happened.

“One…”

“Okay, okay, geezus, I’m going.”

You walked up to your closet, and wondered why you had to step in there...did it have something to do with the ring?

You couldn’t even throw it out, and apparently, somehow, placing it in your box of memories, in your closet, seemed to make the situation worse.

Maybe you should’ve written it down so that when you came back home, you’d know that you should do something about the tiny box. You hadn’t even opened the box yet, but since with all the things that had happened, opening the box was the last thing you should do.

But was it worth it to risk losing your memories, or face brainwashing, just to write it down? No, it wasn’t worth it.

“That’s right, it isn’t worth it. Now open the door before I do the ‘thing.’” He said as you flinched, forgetting that he could read your mind when you were in this situation.

You opened the door, a VERY bright light seeped into your eyes, causing a huge headache to appear.

“Good, now, step in.” Soranagi instructed, this time, his voice seemed to be loud and clear in your head, instead of echoing on the walls.

You took a step, but then found yourself falling through the light. Just before you were about to scream, you found yourself on some kind of hard surface.

You groaned, your eyes burned from the light you just faced.

“You can get off of me now.” You hear a familiar voice say.

You squinted down at someone. A blurry face--with short, mint green hair, looked into your eyes.

Although your vision was blurry at the moment, you immediately knew who it was.

“Zoro?!”
