Mask?
a Sharp kunai resting against the rogue ninja's throat, close enough to draw blood,
“Don’t move. this is over..” Kakashi-sanseis's voice came in a soft growl, words spoken more like the demand it truly was,
“You are finished.” Kakashi let the kunai rest right against the Addams apple of Zabuza’s throat,
Naruto let out a small breath,
while not far off Sakura stood with a relieved smile, hands grasping the straps of her bag tightly,
I shifted in my spot next to Naruto slowly inching my way closer, the noise around me faded to the back,
I mean why would I need to pay attention?
..when I already know what they're saying.,
with the smallest of movements, I grasped the sleeve of his jacket,
my fingers curled into the material before giving a soft tug,
At the action, he glanced at me out of the corner of his eyes with a questioning hum Naruto's head started to turn in my direction,
with a sharper tug, he stopped and went still, the unusualness of this action seeming to finally catch his attention,
With resolve I kept my gaze locked forward onto Kakashi who was still at a standstill with Zabuza,
‘Gods… would you all just..,
My hearing picked up on the scuffing of dirt to my left before an Orange jacket covered my vision,
I blinked before stepping back my lip twitching in annoyance, ‘..what the Fuck. This isn’t what I meant!
Sakura let out a quiet noise,
my head snapped to look over Naruto’s shoulder, she stood in a frozen fighting position in front of Tazuna,
the sound of water splashing against the ground along with a grunt, and suddenly Kakashi-Sensei went flying past us,
his body landed in the water small droplets flying everywhere, Zabuza soon followed after him, coming to a stop right in front of the water line,
With a gasped-like cough, Sensei pulled himself out of the water hair sticking to his forehead along with mud-covered clothes that stuck to his body,
’… the picture is oddly enough reminiscent of a dog going to swim.., I let that oddly funny thought slip away as I focused on the deadly scene that stood up ahead,
Zabuza let out a dark laugh hands coming up to form a sign “you..” a grin pulled up his mask “ you absolute idiot! water prison jutsu!”
Kakashi let out a wordless yell,
his hands shooting out in front of himself reaching towards us only for his path to be covered by a tight watery barrier,
”Get out of here!” our Sensei’s shout was ultimately ignored,
we all stood frozen, the reality that this fight that wasn’t even done, finally catching up with my team,
My teeth gritted together,
I grabbed the back of Naruto’s jacket and with a sharp pull and a startled yelp he hit the ground behind me,
“What the Hell are you doing, Teme!” Naruto snapped pushing himself back up,
Shooting him a glare, I pulled out two Shurikens,
“I don’t need you to get yourself killed.”
Naruto opened his mouth but closed it with a snap as we were interrupted by a laugh,
Zabuza stood with one arm pulled up into a hand sign,
” If you are done,” he crackled second hand coming up “Water clone jutsu!”
With waves crashing in the background, the water circled up slowly forming into two solid shapes,
One was real while the other...
‘Shadow clones huh… couldn’t you have been a little more imaginative?
As the lone clone moved to join the battle Naruto let out a scoff,
without so much as a struggle he picked himself off of the ground eyes meeting mine,
”we’ve got this Teme” a grin slid onto his face,
“-What the Absolute Fuck! are you all doing!” Kakashi’s voice rose to gain everyone’s attention, “I told you to run! This fight was over as soon as I got caught!”
…and our Sensei wasn’t even done yet.
“You are supposed to stay on mission!, keeping Tazuna safe, not chasing after so sort of pride! or anything else!”
a sigh left my mouth before I could even stop it, the Absolute garbage Kakashi was spitting out.
‘ it’s kinda pissing me off,
what an understatement.
my mouth moved before I even realized what I was saying,
“You need to shut up for once Sensei” I hissed out, not paying the surprised gasps around me any attention, “if I.. no.. we leave you, and you die?, we would have left one of our own teammates behind.. and that would make us worse then trash, and I’d rather die here, then ever do that” the Again was on the tip of my tongue,
But with all of that said small grin fell across my face, and the Absolute irony of what I was saying was not lost in the slightest,
I paid no attention to Kakashi’s horrified face and instead nudged Naruto,
”ready?” I asked my eyes searching his face,
with a nod Naruto pulled a Kunai out, “yep! you?”
with an affirmative ‘hmm, I readied my weapons,
The Zabuza clone who had been oddly silent during this flicked his gaze across the two of us,
“You all are quite the mess huh?” he huffed, before letting out a snort “in the end it doesn’t matter of course!”
“If your done playing ninja.., then I’ll gladly finish this fight up, it’s almost insulting to watch you ‘Ninja’ when I became one... I ripped my fellow classmates apart” his head tilted to the side,
”hay! We also had tests! That’s not fair..” Naruto growled out,
”what did you do?.. a quick test? Nothing? I’d actually like to know.., they pinned us against each other,” Zabuza took a low breath, “ classmates who you Know!, ate together… knew each other’s dreams, killing each other in a life of-death match?, all to become Ninja,” he crouched in the clearing ahead of us,
Sakura let out a choked gasp, “th..that’s so cruel”
Zabuza hummed “I killed them all, and you know what?” He took a slow step forward a smile straining his voice “it felt… so... So Good!”
he lunged.
I shrieked in pain as a knee hit me right in the stomach, then with a well-placed kick knocking me harshly back onto the ground,
”Sasuke!”
Blood dripped out of my mouth and onto the ground with a groan I slowly pushed myself up,
’wait it out,
A foot slammed into my back arms giving out on the impact pushing me further into the dirt,
“let Teme go!” Naruto yelled, but his face still held a smirk, Zabuza’s head snapped down
I held eye contact with him, a smile of my own covering the bottom of my face,
my hands held the sign I needed, light sparked,
and with a yell, Zabuza jumped away as two explosions went off around him,
Heavy dust surrounded the area, but as it cleared a hunched-over figure stood in the middle became visible,
‘Oh… I didn’t expect this..,
More blood dripped down the side of this man's arm,
‘We were fighting the real one..,
’Ting!,
I froze and watched the ‘body’ of Zabuza fall to the ground,
A lone steel throwing needle stuck out of his neck,
the water prison Kakashi was trapped in fell to the ground,
‘of course,
Slowly a masked figure came out of the fog ”ah…, sorry to interrupt you all but.., you were fighting my bounty”
‘Haku..,
With fast but heavy steps Kakashi stood beside us, his hand grabbing Naruto’s shoulder,
”oh?, my apologies, but you must understand, right? he attacked my team, meaning he was our enemy” with a closed-eyed smile Kakashi nodded towards the discarded ‘body’ “would you mind getting that out of here.”
Haku gave a stiff nod, and with little effort, he pulled Zabuza into his arms,
with one last look, he fled,
”Who the hell was that!?” Naruto's exclamation broke the silence,
“..that, Naruto was a Hunter-nin, they normally pick up bounties amongst other things..”Kakashi let out a deep sigh,
his gaze slid over everyone, eyes stopping over each bruise cut or otherwise on Sakura Me and Naruto,
and once he was seemingly as satisfied with the fact as much as he could see wasn’t any worse than earlier, Kakashi's shoulders dropped and his gaze slid over to me,
With slow movements, his hand came up and with a hesitant hand he patted me on the head,
“you did good and while You’ve been through worse, for the love of gods.. never And this goes for you both too Sakura! Naruto! Put your life in such danger again”
And once that was all said Kakashi’s eyes slipped shut before he promptly went crashing to the ground,
I felt a tiny smirk grace my face as I called Naruto over to help carry him,
’tells us that.. but won’t follow it himself,
I shook my head, now wasn’t the time for that.
after all, we still have a whole hour until we reach Tazuna’s house.
