The bridge builder and his lies.
“Kakashi-Sensei!!” Naruto screamed, with a look of horror that matched Sakura’s perfectly,
I flinched as the blood splashed onto the ground, with the dust covering the death,
I glanced over at my teammates, their panicked states were Obvious, Naruto looked outright sick, and Sakura was most likely in shock,
’I need to get them to calm down, we still have a mission to complete,
Sakura covered her mouth I could hear her breathing pick up, I shifted so I was covering the front of Tazuna,
“Now it’s your turn,” Gozu crackled,! with a grin evident in his voice,
with the demon brother's laughter in the background I quickly grabbed Naruto and pulled him out of the way, the chain just missing him, dirt and dust flew up into the air,
coughing I covered my mouth with my arm and pulled a shuriken from my bag Before throwing it at them it just caught on one of the loops pinning the chain to the tree,
Naruto stumbled next to me, a look of shock falling across his face, he looked over at me and Sakura before shifting into a fighting stance,
”Sakura calm down, we need to finish the mission” I instructed, my words seemed to reach Sakura as she nodded and moved to cover the right side of Tazuna, her hands were still shaking but my words seemed to help her focus,
Ripping themselves free, Meizu and Gozu glared at us before bolting, in front of me Meizu grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled me up,
My hands went up to hold where he was holding me I kicked at his legs trying to get myself free,
‘fuck! I didn’t react fast enough,
I looked over at my teammates for help, but they were occupied, Gozu was charging at Sakura, claws reaching out towards her,
and my focus was shifted as I was slammed into the ground, I tried not to cry out as my breathing was stopped by hands squeezing around my throat,
I wheezed as my windpipe was getting crushed, clawing at his hands I tried to kick him again, but it didn’t work I couldn’t move my legs,
‘Oh?, oh, I’m Pinned down, I flinched at the realization and as black dots started clouding my vision ‘I- I’m pinned, I- I can’t g- get up, I can’t breathe, Where's Kakashi-sensei!? I- I need to get up!
With that final panicked thought, I let go of his hands and reached into my pocket,
Pulling a kunai out from my pocket I managed to plunge it into his gut, the warm blood seeping onto my hand and shirt, I gasped air in and crawled out from under him, Meizu rolled onto his back holding the open wound in pain,
standing on shaking legs I sat on his lap, with both hands I drove the kunai into His abdomen again, and again Meizu let out a pained shriek before falling silent as I kept pushing the kunai all the way into him,
I couldn’t hear the yells of my teammates or the footsteps walking closer to me,
I stared at the warm blood that stained my hands and shirt, I flinched and turned around as someone grabbed my shoulder,
Kakashi had an unreadable look in his eyes as he stared at the body that was under me, carefully pulling me up off the dead body he held my unsteady weight,
the pressure of his hand was almost comforting, my breath came out In quick huffs, my chest rising and falling along with them,
“Breath,” Kakashi ordered his voice was surprisingly soft, I gave a small hum of acknowledgment before doing as he instructed, and took a few shaky breaths,
”…uh guys?” I looked over as Naruto hesitantly spoke, he and Sakura were standing a little to the side with Tazuna, the other demon brother was knocked out on the ground in front of them,
Kakashi glanced over at them before turning to look at everyone his hand still on my shoulder, I shifted so I was leaning against his side and stared at the ground,
‘Are they scared of me?…,
”good work Naruto as soon as you noticed them going after Sakura you jumped in to help, although, in the beginning, you both froze up,” Kakashi sighed before continuing,
Naruto nodded along with what he was saying, the slight Concerned look not quite fading,
”Sakura you did well protecting Tazuna, although that ended up leaving you vulnerable to attack, but you both left Sasuke open for attack when you didn’t react fast enough”
”Sensei…. Sasuke-Kun killed him, was that necessary I- I mean-“ Sakura started before Kakashi-sensei interrupted her,
“on that note Sasuke did what was necessary for his survival and for yours I’m sorry that I wasn’t there, as I’m Your Sensei it’s my job to make sure you all don’t do anything that would put yourself at risk,” Kakashi’s hand tightened on my shoulder but it wasn’t enough to hurt,
”death is Unavoidable for Shinobi, No matter how strong or weak That’s simply how this world works, be it Someone kills For pleasure or a mission, or in Sasuke’s case self-defense, Every shinobi has blood on their hands some more than others”
Sakura and Naruto stared at Sensei in shock, the speech had most likely startled them, Naruto’s hands were shaking, while Sakura looked like she was going to cry,
‘it’s true though… everyone has blood on their hands, be it as small as a bug or a stack of bodies, it’s simply unavoidable,
”Mister, Tazuna. We need to talk” Kakashi stared at the bridge builder Rage Stirring in his dark eyes,

after some debate, Kakashi decided we could continue on the mission, but after everything that happened the air was tenser,
“..this fogs so thick you can barely see anything” Sakura commented standing along the side of the boat,
I hummed from where I was leaning against Kakashi’s side with my eyes closed, Naruto was sitting right next to me surprisingly silent,
the only sound was the water splashing as the man was rowing the boat, Tazuna was seated next to Kakashi,
‘My head still hurts from getting slammed into the ground…. Could I have a concussion?, probably not even if I did we can’t do anything about it now…. though Kakashi did tell me to stay awake we are on a mission.. best not to think about it,
I let out a sigh and leaned my head against Kakashi’s arm, he briefly glanced down at me before he continued talking about the mission with Tazuna,
‘I’ve already heard all of this once…,
I let out a yawn before opening my eyes, the boat had come to a stop we were now officially in the land of waves,
‘Finally, I can now have a shower,
