Chapter 8
SASUKE POV
Sasuke sighed as he slid open the double doors to the sitting room.
Training had felt like a blur, quiet and foggy. Not worth remembering.
It was only a little after sundown, but it seemed like the sky had already darkened completely.
He walked into the kitchen, kicking his shoes off as he did so. Not feeling like prepping an entire meal, he settled for a cup of simple ramen.
He leaned against the counter, eyes closed, as he waited to hear the sound of boiling water on the stove.
Had he gone too far?
Surely Naruto was thinking that Sasuke was angry.
But was he so upset that he couldn’t even show up for training?
He scrunched his already sealed eyes, trying to recount the events of that night, trying to find anything that indicated that he wasn’t actually angry.
But alas, he couldn’t.
He wasn't angry.
He was embarrassed.
And confused.
He had always thought Naruto to be nothing but stupid, acting out just for any second of attention, picking fights for no reason, and always, always, always involving himself where he didnt need to.
Of course now, Sasuke understood why, because they were not so different.
Not at all.
He thought it tragic that what was so similar about the two of them, was the fact that they were both alone.
The whistle of the kettle awoke him from his thoughts.
He sighed, taking the kettle off the stove, the handle hot to the touch.
