Chapter 3
NARUTO POV
“Ha, Sasuke got lost,” he said laughing.
What a guy, Naruto thought. Sasuke was always so proud but he really got lost? He started to become a little suspicious when he felt his arm fall to his side. Sasuke had suddenly broken away and was heading back towards the door.
“w-where are you going?” Sakura asked from the couch.
“Home” Sasuke said, his face invisible to Naruto’s eyes.
“Did I do something wrong?” Naruto thought. Or was Sasuke just being his usual grumpy self?
“Let’s just let him be,” Kakashi said while reading the book he always magically had.
Naruto frowned.
“I’m going after him,” he said, rushing out the door.
As he sped through the halls, he started to understand how Sasuke would have gotten lost. It was like a maze of lefts and rights, every door looking the same. Out of breath, he slowed down and leaned his hand against a door. He looked up and noticed that the window on the door was broken. He shook his head and started running again. He was going through a dark tunnel like hall
when he heard distant footsteps ahead. The only thing stopping him from tripping over any stray wires was the low lights emitting dim, red waves of color from the floor, kind of like staircases at a movie theater. He finally caught up with them and grabbed their arm. Sure enough, it was Sasuke.
“Why did you leave?” Naruto asked bluntly.
“I said I’m going home”
“But why?” Naruto felt like he was pleading as he grabbed Sasuke’s other arm.
“Let go,” Sasuke said in an awfully calm voice, looking at the floor.
“D-did I do something wrong?”
“Let go” He said again.
Once again, Naruto ignored him.
“Just tell me” he said louder than he’d meant.
“Just leave me the hell alone!” Sasuke yelled, looking up.
His face was red and his eyes were dark.
“Why are you being like this?” Naruto asked quietly.
“I just wanna be alone ok?” Sasuke said more quietly. “I just need to get away from all of you”.
That set Naruto off.
“What’s that supposed-“ but something in Sasuke’s eyes stopped him from finishing his sentence.
Naruto stared at the floor as he let go of one of Sasuke’s arms.
“You know what? I’m not gonna beg you to stay if you never wanted to be here in the first place”.
And with that he dropped Sasuke’s other arm.
As Sasuke walked away he looked back at Naruto for only a split second, and then he was gone, leaving Naruto alone with the dim lights, like a sky endlessly filled with dying stars.
