Chapter 4

SAKURA POV

As Naruto walked back into the karaoke room, Sakura rushed to him and grabbed his shoulders.

“Where’s Sasuke?!” She asked hurriedly. Maybe if she knew where he was, she could catch up to him and try talking things out.

“He left” Naruto’s face looked clouded as he said this, like he wasn’t really there.

Sakura let out a frustrated sigh as she pushed open the door and started sprinting through the halls. She swore it had taken her ten minutes to get out of the building before she was nearly

tripping down the front stairs. She stopped at the bottom looking around, hands on her knees. She put her head down and let out a tired breath. If he had said he was leaving, there was probably

only one place he would be going.

Home.

Sakura had never set foot in the Uchiha district. She almost felt like she shouldn’t. But the thought of Sasuke having lived here all alone for years made her chest hurt. As she stepped under the

entry arc, she felt a chill through her whole body. She gulped and started walking down the road straight ahead of her.

She felt like she was being watched by all the Uchiha ghosts, that they were either pleading her to help Sasuke, or begging her to leave him alone. Suddenly she realized that she didn’t know

which house was Sasuke’s. It wasn’t like she could identify it by last name.

It was incredibly quick, but she saw someone go into an old wooden shrine. She darted after them, occasionally hiding behind walls like she was a spy. When she finally came up to the arc of the

shrine, she somehow felt intimidated by it, like she could feel some type of dark power radiating from the old wooden slats.

She softly strode over to the sliding doors and peeked inside.

There he was. Sitting on his knees, his face in his hands. His shoulders were shaking, and she was about to rush over when she heard a sweet sound. Syrup being poured over a fresh breakfast,

flowers blowing in the wind, lemonade on a warm summer day. Sasuke’s rich laughter was all of these things.

Sakura was stunned. She couldn’t comprehend what he could possibly be laughing about.

Sasuke turned around to face the doors, and Sakura pulled herself out of his sight. She peered through the cracks in the wooden structure and caught a glimpse of his face.

Fresh cherries on ice cream. That was the first thing that came to mind. His eyes seemed strangely bright, his cheeks were red like maraschinos, his lips curved upwards. His bittersweet

laughter pulled at her heart. She turned around and slid herself down to the ground. She herself let out a little chuckle.
