The Attack

Kisame and Sakura were walking back to their house to pack for the upcoming mission when Sakura looked up at her father and said, “Papa?”

Kisame stopped walking and looked down at Sakura. “Yes, my little shark?”

“I want to be a shinobi! Like you and Yagura-Sama!” Sakura said beaming up at her father.

Kisame just looked at Sakura with a grin. “Of course, you can Petals but you have to wait till you are at the academy entrance age. Okay?”

Sakura nodded. “Yes, Papa!”

“Now, let us continue our way back home and start packing.” Kisame picked Sakura up and placed her on his shoulder and continued to walk back home.

When they got home, Kisame placed Sakura down and headed to his room to start packing. Kisame was about to leave his room when he heard cries coming from Sakura’s room. Kisame dropped everything he had in his hands and grabbed Samehada and rushed toward his daughter’s room.

When Kisame entered Sakura’s room he saw that two men in the room were closing in on Sakura’s bed. Kisame held up Samehada and yelled.

“Oi! What do you think you're doing?! Get away from my daughter!” The two men turned around and their faces went pale to see Hoshigaki Kisame standing there with Samehada in his hands.

“Hey man. We didn’t know she was your daughter we had a deal with someone that wanted us to take a girl with pink hair.” The men threw up their hands in surrender. Kisame walked over to the men and held Samehada near their faces.

“Who is this person you made a deal with?” Both the men gulped.

“We don’t know the fellow had a hood and his face was covered. We couldn’t get a good look at him.”

Kisame lowered Samehada and looked over the men to look at his daughter or where she is hiding at. “Alright. I’ll let you two go but not without some scarring. You came in here with the intention of hurting my daughter and I am not going to let that go.”

Kisame grabbed out some kunais and started to slash at the men and after Kisame put the weapons down the two men made their getaway and hightailed out of the house.

Kisame sighed looking behind him before he crouched down and turned to Sakura’s bed.

“Sakura? Sweetie, you can come out now. The big bad men are gone. It’s just you and me now.” Kisame opened his arms waiting for Sakura to run into them.

Sakura slowly came out from under the bed but Kisame noticed her face was bleeding and her hand was covering her right eye. Kisame quickly moved over to Sakura and held her face to see what could have caused the bleeding.

Kisame’s eyes widened in horror when he saw that Sakura had taken a slash to the eye and it was a very deep cut so it was going to scar.

“Oh, my poor little shark. I am so sorry I didn’t get here quickly enough. I am sorry you got hurt. Come on let me get this fixed and I will help you pack. Okay?” Kisame said gently picking up Sakura into his arms and walking to the bathroom.

Setting Sakura down on the sink counter, Kisame grabbed some bandages and some disinfected and started to get to work on Sakura's scar. When applying the disinfected Sakura let out a hiss at the sting it caused.

“I know it stings but it will make sure the wound doesn’t get infected. Now tell do you have any more wounds?” Kisame looked at Sakura as she shook her head.

Kisame sighed and pulled Sakura into a hug and made their way back to her room.

“Petals, I am so proud of how brave you were. I want you to know that you did nothing wrong just because you hid. I will always love you. Now let us help you pack so we can make our way to the gates to meet up with the Mizukage.”

Kisame felt Sakura nod her head from where it lay on his shoulder. With that taken care of Kisame got to work on packing Sakura’s things.

~~~
Yagura was standing at the gates waiting for Kisame and Sakura. The two were already 30 minutes late which is unlike Kisame.
Mei was getting worried about where Kisame and precious little Sakura were. Mei was pacing back and forth biting her fingernail wondering what could have happened to the two.
Zabuza was not fairing any better and was getting anxious, though will never admit it. He wouldn’t admit it out loud but his friend’s daughter has carved her way into his heart and has no plans on leaving it anytime soon.
Ao, who just got back from a mission and was about to go home before he was told he was an escort for the Mizukage, was not as worried or anxious as his friends but he was confused about why the two were not here yet. Usually, Kisame is the first one here.
Yagura looked into the village and saw a hint of pink and blue coming toward them. Mei lit up when she looked in the direction the Mizukage was looking at. Zabuza was just as relieved as the Mizukage when he saw the two heading toward them. Ao was more relaxed when he saw the two.
“Kisame. You are late. Do you want to tell me why you are late?” Yagura said with an eyebrow raised.
“I have a perfectly good reason why I am late but first I want Mei to hold Sakura for a minute while I check something and then I will tell you,” Kisame said handing Sakura to Mei.
Mei turned Sakura around to look at her face and let out a gasp of horror. Zabuza looked over Mei’s shoulder to see what she gasped at and flinched back when he saw Sakura’s face. Ao did the same as Zabuza but didn’t flinch backward.
“Oh, my kami! What happened to you Sakura?! Are you okay?! Do you need medical assistance?! Oh, dear who did this to you?” Mei said fretting over Sakura.
“That is why I was late. Sakura was attacked while she was packing and got slashed across her eye luckily I managed to make it to her room before anything drastic happened but I am still upset that she attempted to be kidnapped in the first place.”
Yagura looked at Sakura, who started sniffling and held out his hands to Mei, silently telling her to hand over Sakura. Mei hesitantly gave Sakura to the Mizukage not wanting to give Sakura up.
Yagura placed Sakura on her feet and crouched down to eye level with her.
Sakura looked back at Yagura and started to cry.
Yagura just wiped away her tears and held her in his arms calming Sakura down.
“Yagura-Sama! I am sorry I had to make you wait with my actions! I didn’t mean to be weak! It was just so scary. I thought I was going to be taken away from Papa and all my friends.”
“Sakura. When you first came into my office I saw a strong-willed little girl who demanded I stop taking away her father. Now I see a strong-willed girl who survived something traumatic and came out of it stronger than ever. You are by no means weak. In fact, I panned on teaching you when we get back just to see you grow stronger.”
Kisame, Mei, Zabuza, and Ao were just looking at the scene, shocked that the Mizukage was comforting someone and a child no less. Kisame was about to object to Yagura training his daughter until he saw his daughter’s hopeful face when she heard those words.
“You really want to train me Yagura-Sama? But you are so busy! You couldn’t possibly have time to teach me!”
Yagura just chuckled and stood up to ruffle Sakura’s hair. “Of course, I am serious. I hope you remember it was you who came busting into my office asking me to teach you how to be stronger.”
Kisame now saw this as the perfect time to butt into the conversation, “Just how many times have you been in the Mizukage’s office Sakura?”
Sakura had the right to look bashful when she spoke, “Too many times.”
Kisame’s brain just stopped working when she said that. “When have you found the time to go there without me knowing?”
“Every time you went out with Mei, Zabuza, and Ao for celebratory drinks after a mission success.”
Kisame just face palmed and picked up Sakura and threw her over his shoulder to give her a piggyback ride all the way to Konoha.
“Well, I think we are ready to go. What do you guys say? Ready to head out to Konoha and get this peace treaty signed.”
Everyone cheered minus Yagura but he nodded and then they were off to Konoha.
