The Birth of Sakura
In a hospital somewhere in Kirigakure, a man who seemed to be six feet or over was pacing outside a hospital room. His lover of two years just went into labor and was rushed to the hospital and the man was forced out after his lover threatened to castrate him. After a good 20 minutes, the man saw a total of four nurses go into the room and it was making him more anxious.
Finally, after a total of 4 hours, he was allowed to go into the room. When entering the room he saw the most precious thing he had seen. His lover was holding their newborn child in a bundle. Walking over to stand next to his lover who was still in the bed.
Looking down into the bundle he could see that the baby was a girl and she has the smallest tuff of pink hair, has forest green eyes that seem to be a mixture of his own and his lover’s. Her skin was also tan color much like her mother’s skin. There was nothing noticeable on her that resembled him, even though he wished she did, he thought that was a good thing so it won’t paint a target on her back.
His lover looked up at him and asked, “What do you think we should name her?”
The man looked down at his lover and replied, “Sakura. Her name shall be Sakura.”
His lover chuckled softly before breaking into a coughing fit. After the coughing stopped his lover said, “You just named her that because her hair resembles sakura blossoms didn’t you?” The man looked away, embarrassed he was found out. “Don’t be embarrassed. I like the name so, Sakura it is!”
His lover then suddenly handed Sakura over to him and spoke with teary eyes, “Please, take care of Sakura for me.” The man looked down at her with confusion. Why would she say that? We are going to raise Sakura together.
“What do you mean Chinami?” Taking a closer look at Chinami’s face he could tell that her normally-tan skin has gone paler and her eyes look more tired than they have ever. Chinami let out a weak chuckle that broke off into another coughing fit.
“I am guessing that the nurses didn’t inform you did they? Kisame. I’m not going to make it out of this hospital bed. I have been terminally ill for the past five years it just so happens that the childbirth gave me one step closer to death’s door.” It took a while before Kisame processed what Chinami had just said.
“So, you are going to die, is what you are saying?” Kisame saw Chinami nod her head and that was all the confirmation he needed. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Chinami looked away from Kisame and spoke in a small voice, “I didn’t want you to think anything different of me because of my illness.”
“Chinami, you should have told me. I wouldn’t have judged you. I loved you for who you are.” Chinami let out a small chuckle. Kisame sat down with Sakura still in his arms and grabbed Chinami’s hand with his free one and brought it up to his mouth.
“Kisame, could you promise me something please?” Chinami looked at him with pleading eyes and Kisame couldn’t find it in his heart to refuse her.
“Of course Chinami. Whatever you want.” Kisame still held Chinami’s hand to his mouth as he spoke just a little lower than it was previously.
“When I am gone I want you to take care of Sakura. Make sure you keep her safe and that she is loved. I want you to tell her how much I wanted to be there for her, how I wished I had more time. I want you to tell her about me whenever she asked. Don’t tell her lies about me. My final wish is for you to take care of yourself.” Chinami said, her voice getting smaller and smaller as she continued to talk.
“I will Chinami. I will see you again. Goodbye.” Kisame set down Chinami’s hand but still held it.
“Goodbye Kisame.” With that said Chinami took in one final breath and peacefully passed away. Kisame just sat there for a few minutes silently crying holding Sakura who is asleep.
After a few minutes, Kisame got up and left the room Sakura was still in his hands. Making his way to the lobby, the receptionist stopped him from leaving and presented him with a birth certificate to fill out. After that was finished, Kisame left the hospital walking down the almost barren streets of Kirigakure.
Making his way to his apartment he looked down at his sleeping daughter and his eyes softened. Brushing his hand against her cheek he whispered, “I will always protect you my little shark.”
