Chapter 12
Her trip back to Konoha was disturbed by Konoha ninja. To be specific, they were mostly Uchiha ninja with Hana leading at the front.
"Uchiha Hisako. Your whereabouts have been unknown for 6 days."
She looked towards the ninja who said that. He was not an inuzuka, as none of them would have the courage to speak something like that to her in front of Hana. He could have been an Uchiha but from the way the others seemed to carry a slight displeasure towards him, she supposed that he was not that either.
Her posture turned straight as he looked at him straight in the eyes. He was quick to avoid her eye contact.
"If it wasn't clear already, I was kidnapped and almost sold off."
"And yet-"
"Since my village's nin are quite incompetent, I had to save myself from those hooligans. Besides that, I am a civilian and also an Uchiha, you are no one to question me if I were to go missing in unforeseen and suspicious circumstances until proper investigation and the procedures set by the first Hokage have taken place. Inuzuka-san, if you will please escort me to the village."
Hana nodded and hid her grin. She wondered for a moment why Hisako couldn't marry in her family before shrugging it off. Now was not the time to be questioning Hisako's choice of a husband. She quickly took a look at her wounds before taking out some bandages and asking the Uchiha for some burn cream. They always made sure to carry some with them, considering how they were called fire hazards.
She had chosen to let Hana carry her to the village, all the while keeping an eye on the ninja which had rebuked her. She knew that there was no point in doing so since she was surrounded by people she could most probably trust yet, the adrenaline from her near death experience still seemed to be in action.
'I want to see Shisui.'
They had made it in the village within 3 hours and was escorted to the hospital. She would have insisted on going by herself but she had chosen to stay with Hana and the other Uchiha. It was still not safe for her to move alone. She could most likely be targeted again by Danzo for his schemes.
Sitting straight, she calmly let the doctors inspect her wounds and prescribe the medicines and heal some of the major burns. She had wanted to check on Shisui as soon as she had stepped in the village but the reactions to her presence had only brought relief, worry and pity from the Uchiha and some customers who had recognized her so, she could safely assume nothing had happened to him yet. She would have to hurry with her new plans now.
"Hana, could you check in with Mikoto-sama? Also bring her some mochi from that shop. She likes those."
Her request was unusual, especially for someone who was just rescued but, the ninja with her could do nothing to stop her. The Uchiha had only remained with her to remain polite, as they all considered each other family, and the one ninja who was neither Inuzuka or Uchiha was likely staying with her on orders from someone. Their mission was already officially over. They were doing whatever they wished to right now so her request was something which could be accepted without any objections.
Hana looked at her once, her eyes narrowed and her lips still stretched in that mischievous smile. It was a smile promising a secret only the two of them knew.
One of the Uchiha frowned at her request regardless, but said nothing. Hisako was becoming a key pillar for both the Uchiha and the village, if he were to put her under suspicion of the others then it may end doing more harm. His eyes unknowingly settled upon her as he realized that she would have been a perfect shinobi.
"Do you know if Shisui is in the village?"
He blinked once at the unexpected, yet expected, question. The whole of the Uchiha clan, if not the whole village, knew about how Shisui and Hisako loved each other dearly. The few civilians who knew about them would call them a 'fairy tale couple'.
"I believe he should be."
His eyes widened as he looked at Hisako again. For a second, her eyes had flashed red.
