Chapter 3
Her mother left after another warning of being on her best behavior. She supposed she could see why her mother would be worried. Shisui's mother was a mess. Clearly something happened to her which had left her drowning in grief, which resulted in her being an incompetent mother. She could hardly even get out of bed.
If Hisako was honest she would have admitted that seeing how negligent she was to her own son made her heart ache for the boy. But Hisako was never honest about her feelings so she kept quiet and helped out Shisui as best as she could, which wasn't much considering her small body. But Shisui always grinned happily whenever she did help him so she supposed that it was alright. Even if she felt sometimes that it wasn't enough.
She knew that Shisui must have died in the anime, because he was an Uchiha. But she never realized who he was exactly. Her memory of Naruto was faint. It had been years since she had watched the show and even though she had written down what she could remember it did not help her much as either she had been too young to stop events from happening [Like Obito's supposed death which might have helped the Uchiha clan somehow] or the events have yet to happen.
She had planned a lot of things but right now, she could do nothing but play around with Shisui. She knew the boy was looking for a little sibling in her and she also knew he was disappointed when he couldn't find it.
They spent the week together. Afterwards, when her mother returned, they went to the academy together.
And it was there that they fell apart.
It was gradual. After the Kyuubi attacked [Which was a traumatic experience in itself], they didn't talk. When they did it was always awkward. She could see him grieving for his mother and stressing over the clan pushing him to work harder. He wanted comfort from her and she couldn't provide him with that when she couldn't even step out of her house. Her mother was falling apart, and with her many failed suicide attempts, Hisako couldn't leave her alone even for a moment.
In the academy, they tried to save whatever was left of their relationship. But it was too awkward.
She couldn't focus on anything. [All she could ever think about was her mother. She didn't want her to die.]
She realized her mistake of ignoring her [only] friend when she didn't see him trying to talk to her. It was a regular day. She went to school, and expected to be met with Shisui's unending and annoying chatter. She was surprised when he didn't even greet her. She had frowned back then before thinking that everything was better that way. There was no distractions for her. She could sort out her thoughts better.
On her way home, she met him like she would usually. He didn't smile at her and she didn't say anything. He just stepped to the side and she passed by him like he didn't exist.
She supposed she took him for granted. [When did she become such a nasty person? She called him her friend and all she did was ignore him.]
It was only after days had turned into months that she had eventually decided to stop moping around and make some friends. She still missed his innocent smile at times but she had been the one to break their friendship and she knew that even if by any chance they became friends again, it wouldn't be the same [Sorrysorrysorrysorrysorry ]. She made sure to not make the same mistake.
She didn't think that she would come home to her mother dead on the floor. She didn't realize her feet were soiled with her blood. She didn't know if she was just going insane or if it was just the moment being so unreal but, a voice which seemed on the verge of laughter whispered that she was just like Kakashi.
"Ha. I suppose we'll have something to bond about then." Her mouth didn't curve up to smile to match her words. She quietly left the house.
She was calm throughout her short walk to the Uchiha clan head's place. She informed her clan head of her mother's death. She did not cry when they asked her to set her mother's body on fire. She did not cry when she washed off the blood from the floor boards.
