Marriages and graduating

She was coping healthily, at least she hoped that she did. From the way Shisui's father looked at her, she knew that she was fine. He never looked at her with pity, and always with a small smile. They had grown closer when he had helped her when her mother died. She didn't want to think about what would have happened to her had he not been there. But even though she was very grateful for him being there for her, she couldn't trust him.

She had first disliked him for how he had made Shisui and her mother suffer. But then her mother died. He was the only one who had actually tried to help her. He taught her how to cook, how to do her laundry and even how clean up the house properly.

She had thought that perhaps she was wrong about him, or maybe[Hopefully], he had just made a mistake in the past which resulted in his mental abuse to Shisui's mother. Or maybe, he had changed after his wife died. She had desperately hoped that he was like the man that he showed himself to be. She supposed that she was lucky that she had realized how manipulative his behavior was slowly starting to become.

She didn't[couldn't] do anything about it.

She sighed and decided that thinking more about the man was not going to do her any good. Her luck with reliable adult figures was just as bad as in her previous life but now, she didn't mind. Her heart didn't hurt anymore, and she had friends that she could call family instead.

"Ah, Hisako-chan, good to see you." Mikoto's voice is calm as usual. It had become a routine for them to greet each other whenever they passed by, which was almost regularly.

"Nice to see you too Mikoto-sama. It's good to see you too Sasuke-san." She smiled at the mother and son duo and after some more talking, and teasing Sasuke, she left to go to Shisui's house. Mikoto had seemed a bit worried for her which Hisako found odd. She would've thought she was worried over her becoming a ninja but, she had made it clear that she had no intention of becoming one. She would graduate from the academy and run her own business.

Her frown didn't disappear until she reached Shisui's house. She was invited for dinner, and had an inkling over what this could be about.

She wanted to run away and never see any of them again, but that would be pointless and illogical. She could run away as far as could but its not as though she could avoid them forever. She just desperately hoped that whatever that man will say today won't be what she is thinking of. She didn't want to face him. [But she also wanted to apologize to him.]

She was about to knock when the door opened. She saw Shisui's face and froze for a second. She could tell he was unnerved as well.

"Your father called me over for dinner." She tried to sound casual. She regretted that she seemed like she was explaining why she was at his house and not straight up apologizing and getting it done with. She couldn't possibly talk to him alone during dinner.

"Right. Yea. Come on in." He had not tried to hide his surprise.

Dinner was alright. Shisui and her were good at pretending everything was fine. They all knew that nobody had been fooled by their act but Shisui's father seemed pleased, rather than being disheartened, with their act. She would've frowned had she not been almost perfect with controlling her facial expressions. She wondered, not for the first time since the dinner began, when the man would bother to enlighten her with what he was planning.

"Looks like you two still get along perfectly fine. I was worried I would have to monitor you two, until you learned to get along, when you both wedded." His words were stated calmly. Shisui was angry. She supposed she would have been too but she was more disgusted with herself. The idea of marrying someone much younger than her was horrifying. She might not feel older than her current body's age but technically she was older.

"You can not just force this on us! We are both-" Shisui had not lost his rationality. She supposed with him graduating early and dealing with life threatening situations, he would be calm. His voice was firm and steady, but she felt like he was a lion just waiting to pounce at his target.

"Hisako had awakened her sharingan when she was just four years of age. Her mother had asked for her to be monitored to see if she was a genius, and she has proven to be one. But instead of supporting her clan, she has chosen to be a fool. So, it has been decided that we will put her to use through some other way." Hisako was the one who was angry this time. She had known about her sharingan for a long time but, she hadn't thought that someone else had knowledge about it as well.

She frowned when she remembered that there should be one man who knew about her sharingan but, years had passed since then and there had been no movement around her suggesting that anyone knew about it. She looked at Shisui's father, and as if he could read her mind he answered her question.

"It was me that day, Hisako-chan." His smile looked disturbing, and Hisako chose to think about this conversation at a later date.

The dinner went by quietly. No one had said anything; There was nothing to say. What had to be said had already been said. In the future, Shisui and her would laugh and consider that bringing them together might have been the man's worst mistake.

Shisui would probably be wanting to speak to her alone soon. There were many things for them to discuss. Her lips turned slightly upwards as a new plan formulated in her head. She might have made a lot of mistakes but this was a chance. There were downsides to this situation she was put in but this was also a chance. He had given her power and opportunities and it would rude of her to not use them right.

For now though, she would apologize to Shisui and get strong enough to not die in the crossfire between the village, ROOT and the Uchiha clan.

Sighing, she wondered why she was reborn in such a troublesome body and world. She would have been perfectly happy as a civilian but now, there was constant death looming over her and she did not have the slightest idea of how she could deal with Danzou which might be the biggest problem.

Her graduation day was simple. She chose to not give the final exam and left the academy after getting the official papers of her being in the final year. Her friends had been slightly disappointed but not surprised since she had long told them of her plan. Their disappointment soon turned into disbelief and slight rage when she told them that she had gotten engaged. Arranged marriages were not uncommon but to hear of their own friend being married to some Uchiha who hadn't even talked to her was, to put it lightly, unnerving.

Hana had decided then and there to play the part of the overprotective sister, and has shouted at the top of her lungs that 'I will that damned Uchiha Shisui and put him in his place'. Hisako just laughed and said she would be looking forward to that but she was starting to worry that Hana might actually do that.

Her thoughts about Hana were forsaken as she looked at Shisui standing in front of her house. He tried to smile at her, it came out more awkward than pleasant.

"Come on in." Her voice was calmer than she had thought. Shisui nodded and followed after her. He noticed how nothing had changed except for the mats in the house. He had an inkling as to why she had changed the mats but chose to not say anything.

"Tea or coffee?" He knew that she likely would not take no for an answer considering she always had liked to drink or eat whenever she was nervous.

"Tea, please."

"Wrong. It's coffee." He sighed, which sounded closer to a groan, before he laughed at her antics. He should've known she would pull something like this. He didn't understand exactly why she felt the need to break the serious mood between them, especially when she did not do so with others. But he was not complaining.

They eventually settled and sat down. Hisako kept pouring out more coffee for herself as she waited for Shisui to start speaking. He seemed to finally decide on what to ask. She had prepared herself for a lot of questions he might have asked. It might have been because of her own nervousness but she had mentally written down a list of answers in her mind, most of which were true. She just hoped that he would believe her.

Shisui glanced at Hisako once more and noted her panic. Knowing her, she had probably already formed some kind of answers for him which would mean that it would make it harder for him to discern the truth from her body posture and facial featured alone.

"Why didn't you tell me that you had the sharingan?" If he were to be honest then he was slightly hurt by that. She had grown distant over the past few years but they had been very close when they were small children. He didn't even understand why she had kept it a secret and, had she not trusted him even back when they were kids?

"I... had awakened my sharingan when I saw my father's dead body. I didn't want to keep it a secret from you but... I just didn't want to talk about it."
