THE VERMILLION CLAN:
THE POWERHOUSE CLAN

The Vermillion clan is a clan that every well educated ninja knows about and in knowing, they feared the name. Ninja's from all villages feared the name purely because of the large amount of power behind the name.
Being one of the only clans that the origin is unknown. All clans are known to come from the goddess Kaguya Otsutsuki, except the Vermillion clan.
The Vermillion Clan originates long before Kaguya was even born into the world, though they lived in hiding and terror as they knew they were different from everyone. The Clan before ninja lived in fear for themselves at the idea of exposing the fact they were different, exposing the fact that they have powers beyond human comprehension at the time.
Though as the ninja population grew and became accepted the people slowly but surely came out of hiding and blended in with the ninja population forming their own Clan which of course they named the Vermillion clan. As the population of ninja grew so did the Vermillion Clan, slowly growing more powerful as time went on but made sure they were smart enough to hide in the shadows still not fully trusting of the world and people around them.
As the ninja wars broke out the Vermillion's stayed out of harms way, keeping to themselves, harnessing their powers becoming stronger and smarter. As time slowly went on the Vermillion's were dragged forcefully into the war happening around them, forcing them to show off just what they were capable of. Showing the mass amount of different abilities and powers the clan possessed.
In doing so, other clans realized the amount of power that the Vermillion Clan held. Selfishly the clans tried using them, they tried weaponizing them, killing them, anything to get them on their side or out of their way.
The Clan leader at the time, Erza Vermillion, was one of if not the first female clan leader, was smart, one of the smartest to ever live arguably. She realized what was happening and got out of the battlefield knowing she didn't want to subject her clan to the horrors of war any further.
After that the clan went to the shadows once more, keeping out bloodshed, and making sure who ever tried hurting one of their own didn't live to tell the tale. They made sure the clans around them knew they were a threat and a force not to be tried with... a clan to be feared.
Staying away from the war let the clan thrive, and rumors of them to flourish. Their powers known yet still not understood by the clans and ninja's around them. Questions of the clan rose fast. Not all questions were answered, in fact only a few were ever really answered. Though their powers were still an unknown, ninja didn't understand it.
But to put it in simple words the magic they have was special, it's real origin is still unknown by a a lot of factors, and really they only have theories, one of the main ones being is the 'One Magic'. The One Magic, even with the ambiguity of it over time, have its believers share a common thought about it: that it is the source of all Magic Power, an omnipotent power. There are many other theories though The One Magic is the most believed and has the most evidence to back it up.
To the Vermillion Clan magic is the physical embodiment of the spirit. When the physical spirit of an organism connects with the spiritual flow of nature, the spirit forms Magic as a product of the connection. Magic goes beyond reason, it is still born of reason and it takes an enormous amount of concentration and mental ability to use it.
Though much like chakra to ninja's, magic to The Vermillion's or as they call their 'ninja's' mages or wizards, is a life force. Magic is used for many different purposes within the Vermillion Clan, such as offense, defense, support, and healing, as well as other, more practical purposes.
As magic changed a new species of mage was born, one per generation a new one not being born till the other was too old to fight or killed. A Dragon Slayer was what they were named. Their magic was powerful, more powerful then the clan had ever seen before. Dragon Slayer magic allows its users to transform their physical bodies into a Dragon. As a result, the user can transform their body with features of their respective element, utilizing both offensive and defensive styles.
A Dragon Slayer is immune to the effects or hindrance of their own element, even if it is reflected back at them with greater power, and can consume external sources of their element to replenish their strength.
To top it off Dragon Slayers had a mode that could make them even more powerful, the Dragon Force. When one enters Dragon Force, their skin becomes scaly like an actual Dragon's. A lot of information about the Dragon Force is unknown to most Vermillion's besides the Dragon Slayers themselves. In fact most information about Dragon Slayer's and how they came about is unknown to most Vermillion's and the existence of them is even unknown to the ninja around them.
Though no one but the Vermillion Clan knew of it, even if that was only a small portion of just what magic can do.
As time went on more unanswered questions about the clan sprung up. Even so the Vermillion Clan stayed to themselves ignoring the attention on them that just multiples as the days went on.
Many years went by and the Vermillion Clan was peaceful. Until a mage was born with the name Zeref Vermillion who's family was murdered by rouge ninja, tried to test the impossible and went against everything the Vermillion's stand for. He researched the connections between life, death and Magic to revive his brother. Though as time went on he fell in love with a women and eventually dropped his fascination with life and death for a while when he realized he was going to be a father of a child of his own who ended up being the next Dragon Slayer of their generation.
But the damage was already done and he wouldn't realize that until his child was sent away for training and he was left alone with his wife. It was then the effects showed and it was then that Zeref became a murder and without even wanting to. His wife through it all never left his side knowing why he researched and did what he did. She knew he didn't want the curse that was placed on him but accepted the fact that what he did in the past was wrong and now he had to pay for it.
Though that would be the downfall and cause of death of the beloved Mavis Vermillion, who's heart was too big for her own good. And her death was a breaking point for an already guilt-riddled Zeref.
And on the first night of his child's returning to the clan after their training, the child was mistreated and thrown to the side without even knowing what they had done, or more so what their parents had done. In seeing this, that was the final straw for Zeref who's guilt had turned into wrongly placed anger on to the Clan.
On the first night of his child's returning, it would be the last night for almost all of the Vermillion Clan.
And leaving the only witness to it all, Megami Vermillion, a Dragon Slayer alone in a world of Ninja.
