Summary
“Where is she?” Callie yelled as she ran into the Idaho ER, a panicked look on her face“Arizona? Arizona??”It had been about 12 hours since she had gotten the call. The call that the plane had been found. The call that Meredith, Derek, Christina, and Arizona were all being airlifted to the hospital. The call that Mark and Lexi hadn’t survived.——My take on the plane crash and how it brings Arizona and Callie closer together instead of driving them apart

Chapter 3

“She’s okay Torres” Bailey said

They were on the plane and about 30 minutes from landing in Seattle. Callie was bouncing her leg in a restless fashion- her eyes had been on Arizona since they took off

“Physically maybe, but you and I both know she is far from okay” Callie responded leaning back in her seat, eyes still on her wife
“She feels like she doesn’t have anything”

“You know what she does have?” Bailey replied
“She has her wife, and her daughter, and an entire army of people around her ready to help in any way possible- Now I’m not saying it will be easy, but she won’t be doing it alone. Neither of you will”

Callie just nodded, tears forming in her eyes

“I don’t know what to do Bailey. There’s no guideline for what to do when your wife loses her leg in a plane crash that also killed your best friend and father of your child” Callie said running her hand through her hair

“The first step is going home to see your daughter and letting her be with her mothers. Everything else will come with time” The shorter woman said simply

“She’s going to be okay right?” Callie asked in a soft voice

“She is. We’ll make sure of it” Bailey said taking Callie’s hand, silently holding it for the rest of the flight

“You have a visitor” Callie said holding Sofia on her hip as she walked into Arizona’s room at Seattle Grace later that day

“Hi baby” Arizona said from her bed as Callie transferred Sofia into her other mothers arms.
“I missed you so much”

“Mamaaa” Sofia said, Arizona trying not to cry

“How is she?” the blonde asked looking at her wife

“She’s great” my dads been dropping her off here during the day so he can have a break and her routine isn’t interrupted too much but she’s good, even ate some peas today”

“That’s my big girl” the blonde said looking down at her daughter

“She also made this at daycare today” she said taking a painting out of her bag

It was paint smeared across a piece of paper and didn’t resemble anything but to Arizona it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen

“Did you make that baby girl?” Arizona asked

The little girl nodded then started reaching for her diaper bag, more specifically the goldfish in it

“I take it she’s hungry” Callie laughed

“They should be bringing my dinner by any minute, are you guys staying for a bit?” the blonde asked

“Of corse we are” Callie said

A few minutes later Arizonas dinner did infact come into the room and Callie ran down to the cafeteria to grab a quick sandwich, the three able to eat together for the first time in far too long

“Hey Swanson” Callie said as her colleague and fellow ortho surgeon walked in

“Hey guys, is now a good time? I’m just here to check your leg Arizona”

“Sure. Callie-“ The blonde started, looking at her wife

“I’ll go check on some patients, I’ll be back” she said quickly squeezing arizonas hand. It had become routine for Callie to leave the room whenever someone came to check on Arizona’s leg and while they both knew why it was happening they had yet to actually talk about it

“You know you’re gonna have to let her see it eventually” Swanson said as he unwrapped Arizonas leg

“And that day is not today” Arizona said looking at the wall while Swanson checked her leg

“So good news Bailey gave the all clear for you to go home tomorrow” Callie said as she walked in arizonas room a few days later

“Finally” Arizona said finishing her dinner, she had slowly been building her appetite back up and was doing fairly well aside from the leg

“Plus Hank installed a chair in the shower, I moved our room around a bit so that the hospital bed that’s being delivered tomorrow can fit” Callie said starting to ramble

“Oh boy shower rails and hospital beds” Arizona said sarcastically

“I know it’s not ideal but it’s just to use for a few weeks until you’re back in our bed. Bailey also made your first therapy appointment, Thursday at 4” Callie continued

“the good news keeps coming doesn’t it” The blonde replied

“Bailey made it a condition of your release, Meredith, Derek, and Christina’s too. It’ll be a good thing” Callie said trying to reason with her wife

“Can you please not put a positive spin on something for once?” Arizona said clearly frustrated

“I’m sorry” Callie said
“I’m just-“

“I was in a plane crash and it sucks, I lost my leg and it sucks. Our daughters father died and we haven’t even talked about it yet and it sucks” she yelled
“There is nothing here to put a positive spin on Callie so please for the love of god knock it off”

“I can’t talk about Mark right now because it hurts too much. Okay?” Callie yelled back
“And you’re right this sucks, this all sucks, but the only thing we can do right now is walk through this shit together because we’re married and sometimes we have to go through shitty situations but we do them. Together”

“sorry” Arizona said softly after a few moments

“It’s okay, I’m sorry too” Callie replied

“Lay with me?” Arizona asked scooting over to room for her in the bed

“Are you sure?” Callie asked

“I’ve always felt better when I’m next to you” Arizona admitted

Callie smiled and closed the blinds before getting into bed with her wife, both of them laying on their sides facing eachother

“Are we gonna be okay?” Arizona asked softly

“We will” Callie answered

“I mean it Callie. I can’t lose you” Arizona said look in the brunettes eyes

“And you’re not going to” Callie said
“For better or worse right?”

Arizona just nodded

“I love you Calliope” she said after a minute

“I love you too” Callie said smiling at her wife calling her by her full name again

“Kiss me” Arizona said softly

“Thought you’d never ask” she said smiling before putting her hands on her wife’s face and finally kissing her
