Sasuke is in Kohona, what was once his home is now just another place on a map.

The only person who seems happy or even okay with seeing him is his friend Naruto.

And Kakashi, well that was his former teacher and the now hokage.

There was once another person who waited happily to see him at the entrance of the village, but her ghost stands in its place.

In Sasuke’s eyes Sakura gave him up. She truly gave him up the moment she stopped showing up for him.

She was no longer there with Naruto instead she had her own life she was living.

Sasuke didn’t know what this heartbreak felt like. It felt different from what he had experienced as a child. But this pain was from his own hands. He destroyed it and didn’t think twice.

So whenever he was in Kohona not with Naruto he’d watch her from afar. Her thriving career at the hospital, her going out with friends. There wasn’t a male that he saw with her.

It made him feel slightly better, knowing she had a good life without him. It also stung, knowing he wasn’t in her life, like he used to be when they were children.

It was awkward for him to bring her name up to Naruto or even Kakashi. The stumbling of trying to bring her up in conversation. It felt so unnatural for him when it was always her chasing him.

Sakura tried saving him and Sasuke tried killing her.

When they were younger, he didn’t care that he wasn’t worth saving, but two people kept chasing the fuck out of him.

Was he worth it? To Naruto yes, to Sakura yes. The time and breath they both kept over the years holding out for him. It was.

The call was tough, because he was the one who broke her heart time and time again. And for the final time he thought he correct for doing so.

<FLASHBACK>

“Sasuke.” Sakura spoke softly looking into his eyes. Kakashi and Naruto had just left the two of them by themselves.

“Why don’t you try moving on for once? Might make it easier.” He spits out. They’re at Kohona’s entrance gate.

He looks away, not wanting to see her face. Why was he still being mean to her? He wanted to redeem himself and try to atone for his sins. The way he treated her also needed to be addressed. However there was something deep down making him act like this.

Sasuke knew deep down he wasn’t worthy of her love. No matter what, he couldn’t. In his mind there was no justification. What he was going to do now, to try and atone for the sins he committed, maybe he could be absolved. But hurting Sakura? What if she realized that he wasn’t  everything she wished for? He was at the cliff side. Not knowing the correct choice.

“You know it won’t work like that.” His final words to her.

You better be damn sure about this.

A voice said as he turned around.

I have to be. Her love will stop shining and fade.

**

Since then Sakura acted as if he was a ghost. A ghost that haunted her no matter how much she tried to let the past be in the past.

And as time went on, he regretted everything. His facade fell apart.
