You sighed as you stared out the window. You felt uneasy as the time went by. Minutes felt like hours as you fidgeted with the blanket that was draped over your legs.

You had only woken up yesterday and already they were on your ass about your existence.

The nurse; who you had given a fright yesterday night had stayed in your room to check on you and make sure you were ok. She had asked you how you felt and once you told her you were doing good she left you to your own devices. But not before telling you that you weren’t allowed to wonder due to your ‘unknown intentions in the village’. So with nothing to do you had decided to just watch the people outside and interact with your snakes. You had decided to try and count them all and you ended up giving up after passing 50 and not even being halfway through counting them all. Talk about a busy head.

Anyway back to the point, she had let you be for the night but came in once in awhile to check on you, which was fine, she had even brought you some food at one point which you ended up eating like a starved animal. Again back to the point, there was one particular visit that she had informed you of something you had hoped wouldn’t happened yet.

Meeting the hokage.

Which is why you were now, here, on the edge of your hospital bed, practically twisting your fingers with how hard you were stressing them. You looked at the clock that hung besides the door.

Only a couple more minutes.

You groaned as you brought your finger up to your mouth to bite your long nail, not hard enough to break but enough that it would bend under your teeth. You ignored the sensation of a cold face touching your neck, the thought of it fleeting from your mind as you knew that it was only one of your snakes peeking out from your long hair. Even though the nurse didn’t come around too much you made sure to be sneaky with letting your snakes show themselves. He moved to get a view of your face, he could tell by your eyes that your mind was somewhere else. The nail chewing had almost come to a full stop as you stared with hazy unblinking eyes at the door.

He hissed at your face, not menacingly but just hard enough to bring you back to reality. You inhaled sharply by your nose and looked at the snake, who was waiting for your response patiently. You exhaled the sharp breath, moving your hand away from your face to run it through your hair, your eyebrows knitted and face wrinkled in stress.

“ sorry I’m just nervous.”, you looked at him wearily, “ this could go very well or very bad.”

He hissed lowly at you, and approached your face to lay a soft kiss on the corner of your mouth. You noticed that they seemed to love giving little boop kisses, you found it very amusing and cute so you never did anything to stop them.

You softly smiled and pet him under his chin with the tip of your finger, his tongue flicked out happily at the gesture.

You could almost forget what doom was slowly coming your way, that is until all of a sudden the sound of multiple footsteps could be heard from down the hall. It all came back to you as your snake darted back into your hair. You hastily looked at the clock, your face went pale as you noticed what time it was. The couple minutes that you had earlier drained quicker than you had wanted. You had been told that the hokage himself would come to the hospital due to your injury enabling you from going all the way to his office to meet him.

You waited with a beating heart as the booming footsteps got closer and closer to your room. You could feel your back get clammy as a big shadow loomed from under the door. The dread it made you feel was heavy. You watched as the door slid to the right to reveal the person who would decide your future, Hituzen Sarutobi, the third hokage of the hidden leaf village.

He walked in wearing the same thing he always wore in the anime and manga, a long red robe with a white kimono and his customary hat set atop his head. His stride was slow as he puffed from his pipe, the smoke leaked out from the sides of his wrinkled mouth as he exhaled. Behind him you could spot two other men, you recognized them to be Iruka and Ebisu. You met Iruka’s eyes as he walked into the room. He smiled softly at you causing some of the tension in your back to leave, you nervously smiled back before looking away and staring at the hokage who had walked across the room to stand in front of you. Once more he cast a shadow over you which cause the tension to zip right back into your muscles, maybe that’s why hokage translated to fire shadow because just from his shadow you felt hot and clammy.

Iruka and Ebisu stationed themselves beside him, guarding him incase you tried anything. Which you definitely wouldn’t considering you didn’t even had the guts to look at the hokage directly in the eyes. You weren’t too fond of eye contact when it came to new people.

The silence was loud as you waited for the hokage to speak to you. He took a couple more puffs before finally opening his mouth to speak.

“ it seems your healing well from your wound.”, his voice was low and scratchy as he spoke gesturing to your healing stomach.

“ um yeah-its fine. I feel pretty good.”, you cringed at the tremor in your voice.

The hokage hummed, “ what is your name child?”, the question itself was easy to answer but somehow you still stumbled awkwardly before blurting out your name. “What about your clan name?”

You paused not knowing whether you should tell him your last name, you looked around thinking of something to say before finally saying, “ I don’t have a clan.”.

Ebisu, who hadn’t said anything the whole time growled at you, “ what do you mean you don’t have a clan name!”, his voice was harsh and loud causing you to feel even more frightened. You never did like getting yelled at, it always left you sour after.

“Ebisu.”, the hokage spoke firmly shutting up Ebisu before he could say anything more. He turned back to you, “ what about your parents?”, you clenched your fists at the thought of your parents.

“Gone.”, you said quickly, it wasn’t necessarily a lie, except they weren’t the ones gone you were.

You wondered if they were searching for you, maybe they hadn’t even noticed yet considering it had been nighttime or maybe you had been completely erased from their mind and everyone else’s, as if you had never existed. The thought made tears spring in your eyes, to think that your mom could be going on with her life as if you never existed, as if you weren’t her first child. Maybe it was better that way, you thought, so she wouldn’t have to know the pain of losing her eldest daughter.

Iruka looked at you with a knowing look on his face, he too had lost his parents at a young age so he knew what you were going through. The hokage sighed , “ I’m sorry to hear that.”, you nodded weakly at his pity not really knowing what else to say.

You jumped when you felt a firm hand squeeze your shoulder, you looked up. With tears in your eyes you met the hokage’s fierce eyes, “ but what you did, saving that hyuga child. Was very brave of you and I thank you. ”

The shadow of unease and dread that had been cast over you was blown away by his words to instead be replaced by the light of honor. To think a man who had fought way worse than anything you had gone through was thanking you and saying you were brave. You knew you would carry that in your heart forever.

Your smile was proud but had a small pout as the familiar burn of tears sprung in your eyes, you could feel as they tried to spill past your lashes. You bowed your head, quickly trying to wipe them away with your wrist, but more fell even after you wiped them, you held your mouth pushing back a small cry.

You weren’t sad just emotional from the words you had been told, it honestly boosted your ego a little.

He chuckled as he heard you push out a soft thank you, he squeezed your shoulder once more before removing his hand, “ I have decided that in return for your action I will be allowed to stay here.”

Your eyes went wide as you looked at him in shock, even Ebisu seemed to be shocked, “ really….?”

“ correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t have a place to stay and call home, right?”

You frowned, “yes…”, you didn’t really like that he pointed it like that.

He nodded, pipe still in mouth, “ then it is decided, you can stay.”, a hopeful look struck your face. Maybe everything wasn’t gonna be too bad. A weight lifted from your shoulders thinking maybe you would be able to stay and have a home.

“ but. ”

of course, the dreaded but, there’s always something “ you will be closely monitored as to make sure you truly have no ill intention upon this village.”, well that wasn’t to bad, as long as they didn’t watch you doing your business, private business. You weren’t one for being watched while taking a dump. No thank you.

You nodded a teary smile forming on your lips so wide it almost hurt your cheeks, “ Thank you! I appreciate your kindness and hospitality very much, I’m honored that you have decided to let me stay here...”, you hesitated before saying it but finished your words, “ Lord Hokage.”, you bowed your head in respect, can’t be looking impolite in front of the man who just saved your future.

The hokage chuckled at you before lifting his hat up, “ now wipe those tears, you have a new life ahead of you.”, and for the third time you smiled up at him and wiped your tears away.

Iruka was smiling next to the hokage as he stared at your happy face when suddenly an idea popped in his head. He turned to the hokage and asked, “ if the young lady wants, and if you permit me to lord hokage, I would like to enlist her into my class. She would make a formidable student I’m sure of it”, the hokage turned to Iruka then turned to you, “ would you like to become a shinobi y/n?”

You gasped , “ could I really!?”, you turned to Iruka, “ you really think I’d make a good ninja!?”

Iruka smiled, “ only time will tell but I think you will and with the bravery and drive to protect that you have demonstrated id say you have a quarter of what you need to be a great shinobi.”, Iruka always had such a way with words, because what he had just said made you feel like you were gonna explode as you blushed red.

“Yes! Yes I’d love to become a ninja!”, you practically screamed out the words as you held back from flailing your arms everywhere.

The hokage nodded pleased that you seemed so ecstatic, “ very well then, depending on when your released you will start school the day after.”

You nodded vigorously, Iruka laughed under his breath at your excitement. To think, not even a day ago you were at deaths door and now here you were alive and practically bursting in joy in front of him. He couldn’t wait for you to be his student, and it seemed that you couldn’t wait as well.

You tutted as you stared at the giant building in front of you, it’s shape was the same design as the buildings around it; cylinder with colorful roofs. It was huge, looming over you, as you waited in front of the open gate slightly out of breath.

You had been running around the village earlier trying to find your way around the insane amount of people, buildings and shops. The village was so much bigger when you were actually in it than when you watch it through a screen; and so much more lively and beautiful. It was a funny feeling but you almost felt home, in the right place. You couldn’t help but feel guilty at the feeling knowing that your real home was back with your parents and friends.

You were surprised that you hadn’t seen anyone in the show yet, save for Iruka, Ebisu and hokage. You wondered if maybe they were all on missions, you didn’t really know how early or late you landed in the show. But considering you were suppose to go to school tomorrow you hoped it was early because you didn’t feel like being in a class full of small children, considering you were a grown teenager. Well more like tween, you were suppose to turn 15 soon, only in a couple months if you went by the days back at home.

The hospital let you leave early, the day after the hokage met you even, considering how fast you surprisingly healed. After the hokage had visited you the nurse had checked your wound, she wanted to see how far along the healing was. To your surprise and hers your wound was completely healed only leaving a long scar in its wake that stretched across your lower stomach, the scarred tissue was thick, sunken in and slightly pink.

You ran your fingers gently against the scar as you stared at the glass of the hokage’s office, that’s where you were gonna be in a while. You huffed as you pushed your feet forward your body following as you walked through the gate and towards the two orange doors at the front.

The sand kicked up as you stepped onto the large concrete semi circle steps that surrounded the doors. You walked up to the doors and stood in front of them. You hesitantly brought your hand up to the door, it was smooth but you could feel rough grooves scratched into it, probably from the people who would slam it open. You sighed as you looked around awkwardly your eyes falling on the roof of the building located next to the hokages office. Your new school, which you were gonna start learning in tomorrow. Gross. It irked you though to think that you had finished school and exams not even 2 days ago and you were already gonna be back in school tomorrow.

You groaned at the thought and pushed softly against the door unsure if it would open but to your delight it opened without a problem. There was a slight groan from the door as you pushed it further open, you walked into the building your foot steps echoing around you. There were three halls in front of you one going straight, one left and one right, just like the nurse had said. You looked down each hall, all were empty, void of people. If you remembered correctly the nurse, before letting you go told you that once you were in the building you had to go straight down the hallway to the doors at the end, then up the stairs and go right and down the hallway. She had also given direction around the village but the amount of rights and left was just to much for you, reason why you got lost.

You passed many rooms as you walked down the hall, you did try to peak into some but most of the doors were closed, and for the ones that weren’t they were usually just big rooms of the sort. You got to the doors at the end of the hall and they were also orange with some dents on it, geez these people are rough, you thought as you pushed open the door. You peaked your head and shoulders in slowly to scope what was passed these doors and were pleased to find a nice set of stairs winding all the way to the top floor, there was another door on the other side seeming to lead somewhere else in the building. The stairs were nicely polished as you stepped on them, there yellowish color befitting the red and yellow spectrum of colors this building had going on.

Once reaching the top you spotted two door, you huffed slightly out of breath, these stairs were as bad as the ones back at your old school. You brought your hand up to the door and softly pushed it and peaked into the hall, again the hall was void of any people but from far you could hear people talk. You fully stepped out into the hall and turned the right looking towards where you could hear the voices coming from. The air in the hall was refreshing as you breathed in, it was cooler than outside which felt very nice.

You stuck close to the wall as you turned right and walked down the hallway, you ran your fingers along the wall your nails scraping against the imperfections of the wall. It almost seemed like the hallway was never ending, but from the voices getting louder you could tell that you were getting close to something. You slowed down as someone’s back reared out from the end of the hall, the voices you heard were from a man talking with another man, they both wore a green vest, one had spiky black hair and the other one you couldn’t see to well but he looked to have brown flat hair, they were both leaned against what you could now see was a huge door. You stopped, standing not to far from them, their talking coming to a stop as they sensed you behind them. The man who had his back turned to you looked back at you while the man in front of him leaned to the side to see past his friend. Your eyes widened as you recognized both of them, they were the two ninjas that had tried to block Naruto and everyone else from entering the room during the chunin exams; Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo kamizuki. You froze as they stared at you, they looked at you suspiciously.

You swallowed your fear as you opened your mouth, “ um I was just wondering if this was the hokages office, he told me to come here when I was healed.”, you stammered slightly as you blabbered, “ I’m suppose to be getting registered into….stuff so I can live here. My names y/n….”

A look of recognition seemed to cross Izumo’s face, “ thats right! I remember. The hokage went to talk with you yesterday.”, it seemed Izumo was the only one that recognized you in that moment because Kotetsu was starring extremely hard at your face while Izumo talked to you. You nervously glanced at him, he was leaned forward slightly trying to get a closer look at your face, your eyes met for a second and to your relief it seemed to jog his memory as he shot up quick, finally getting out of your face, “ That’s right I recognize you now! You’re the girl that saved the hyuga child!”, he snapped his fingers in thoughts, “ what’s her name again?”

“ Fumiko.” , Izumo quickly reminded him with a look of chagrin on his face.

“ Yes Fumiko!”, seems like almost everyone knows, you thought blushing slightly.

“ but didn’t you take a pretty big hit, why are you out the hospital shouldn’t you be resting?”, you were surprised to see a stern look on Kotetsu’s face his brows furrowed slightly as the bandage on his face lifted with the scrunch of nose, like when a father scolds his child.

A nervous smile formed on your lips, “ Uh yeah, they let me leave early from the hospital. The wound is completely healed.”, you lifted your shirt up to your naval and showed them the big scar on your stomach, “ see, all good.”, they both looked at the scar before turning to each other surprised, Izumo looked at you intrigued, “ how did you heal so quick?”

You shrugged, “ I really don’t know, maybe the nurses did a good job haha…….”, you said with an unsure tone, they both raised an eyebrow at you as you nervously chuckled not really knowing what else to tell them. You softly clapped your hands wanting to change the subject and actually go to see the hokage.

“ well um anyway so I was just here to see the hokage, as I had said before. Um is….“ , you pointed at the door behind them, “ is this where his office is?” they both turned to the door as they remembered what you were originally talking to them for. Izumo nodded answered, “ yeah it is.”

You nodded gratefully and started walking in hesitant steps towards the door, “ um thanks do I just uh-“, you didn’t really know whether to knock so you kinda gestured hoping that one of them would tell you what to do. You also didn’t feel like accidently interrupting something, “ do I just go in. Do I knock?”

They both nodded at you parting out of the way as you walked between them to the door, Kotetsu raised his hand to the door, “ here. Let me.”, he knocked on the door three tines firmly, it echoed through the halls as you waited for an answer. The sound of footsteps coming to the door could be heard before it was pulled open. A man stood in the doorway abstructing your view of the inside of the office as he looked at you, Izumo suddenly came up beside you as he grabbed the man’s attention away from you.

“ miss y/n here is here to see the hokage about her living arrangements. So if you could let her in.”, he informed the man who looked back at you his eyes sweeping over you. You didn’t like it what so ever. He huffed as he moved aside, you could now finally look into the room. You spotted the third sitting at his mahogany desk reading the papers that were strewed around in front of him, the smoke from his pipe slithered out from under his hat in gray wisps into the air. You looked back at Izumo and Kotetsu as you walked into the room and bowed your head, “ thank you for helping!”, they both smiled, Kotetsu saluting you with two fingers and Izumo bowing his head back to you. You smiled to them as the door closed waving softly to them.

“ y/n.”, the hokage’s voice rang through the room, you hummed acknowledging that he called your name as you turned around to face him. He had a surprised look on his face, “ I didn’t think you’d come by so soon.”

So I was thinking of making y/n and Naruto become roommates at one point. Just wondering what yall think. I'm also thinking of getting rid of the snake hair, they're not gonna be completely gone just not in her hair anymore. Tell me if there's anything I'm doing wrong with my story like written wise, maybe to descriptive, not descriptive enough. Let me know, give some advice, doesn't matter how harsh
