A Friendly Reunion

“Hey, Neji how have you been these last ten years?”

There stood Naruto, a friend from his past dressed in expensive clothing. Seeing him brought back some feeling of home Neji missed. But this also made him nervous. He knew if Naruto was here Sasuke was too far behind. His location might be out to his family( who he was desperately trying to protect).

“Hay Naruto,” Neji Replied trying to get the thoughts going through his head.

“Don’t hey Naruto give me a hug,” Naruto smiled. He pulled Neji into a little hug. He missed Neji through the years he loved his friends. Neji was the glue in one of his most valuable friendships to this day. Neji, Naruto, and Kiba became a trio after Neji and Shiakmaru became a couple. Naruto and Kiba were already friends and they welcomed Neji in.

They had many adventures throughout the years they gained a bond. It hurt Kiba and Naruto when Neji left. They were best friends. They went through pregnancies together and various hardships through the years.

“What are you doing here in Seattle?,” Neji inquired, closed the door, and stepped outside.

“I’m here because I learned that Kawaki’s last known whereabouts was here in New York. Neji you don’t know how delighted I feel,” Naruto took Neji’s hands into his own and held them.

“It must be exhilarating to know where he is now, right?”

“Yes, it feels so nice now. I’m not that far from having my baby boy back into my arms,” Naruto began to hug himself. Naruto knew Kawaki wasn’t a baby anymore, he was seventeen now. The thought of missing out on that much in his life dreads as the days go by.

“Naruto I hope you know Kawaki, he is now a teenager, not that little child taken away from you years ago,” he said.

“I know Neji is just hard to let that go. I feel as if I failed him as a mother, you know. I couldn’t protect him from the dangers out there, so how do I know he won’t resent me or even hate me,” Naruto’s emotions erupted like a volcano. He knew he should not have been here with Neji which could have compromised the mission. Also who wants their friend to know that the husband they left ten years ago was not in town either?

“Damn what the fuck was I thinking coming here,” Naruto looked at the ground with that thought.

“Naruto hey are you okay?”

“ I’m good I’ve just been in my head a lot lately. About the whole Kawaki thing being here is hard for me. Also, I just showed up at your house with no explanation and out of the blue,” Naruto rambled.

“Naruto, it's perfectly fine for you to come over without an explanation. Even though you should not be saying my real name out in public,” Neji laughed.

“Oh, I’m sorry, anyways forget about me for a second. How have you been in these last ten years?’l Naruto questioned, pushing the attention onto Neji.

“It’s been nice, even though I miss my husband and family every day. I have my lovely daughter Hanami to make up for it a little,” Neji concluded.

“Wow you have another child, how old is she?”

“She just turned ten in May. She has her moments where she is a control freak like her father but I can’t control genes…,” Neji paused when he realized what he had said. He wanted Naruto to know about his life but not too much to where it would lead back to his husband. Even though he wanted Shikamaru to know about her. He did not want to compromise their location.

“You have another daughter,?” Naruto questioned. He knew she was Shika’s because the timeline lined up with how long Neji had been away.

“Yes and before you question or ask, she is Shika’s kid,” Neji sighed.

“ I could tell the timeline adds up with her age,” Naruto said.

“So how’s the family doing? Did you and Sasuke have any more kids?", moving the attention off him, Neji spoke up to change the subject.

“We had one more. Her name is Himiwari. She turns ten in July. So now I have six lovely kids and when I get Kawaki back my family will be complete,” Naruto smiled looking up with pride.

He loved his kids. He pushed them to try and be their best, not forcing them into things they didn’t want or need to do. He wants them to be their best.

“That is wonderful I wonder if I didn’t leave if my family would be… ugh I don’t know how to word phrase it,” Neji began rubbing his head to process his thoughts.

“You would have a family as big as mine maybe?”

“Hell no Naruto you no damn well four kids is just enough for me. Why would I want six of those things no offense to you but that is just not for me,” he made a disgusted face at the thought. Don’t get him wrong Neji loves his kids and his fine-ass husband but six kids was just too much.

Naruto busted out laughing looking at Neji’s expressions always made him laugh, but his laugh drew the attention of the kids in the house.

Inside the house:

“I wonder what they’re talking about? My mom has been out for a good while now,” Hanami looked out the window and stared at the two. She had seen the blonde-haired man before, he was in one of the pictures with her mother and father along with another man who she would assume was her husband. Ending that thought Hanami wanted to confirm who the man was so she ran into her mom’s room. She remembered where he placed the box with the photos in it in the closet. She opened the closet, bent down on the floor, grabbed the box, walked back into the living room, and sat down.

After an eternity of looking through the pictures, she found the one she was scavenging for. Lifting the photograph Hanami noticed the blonde and her mother was pregnant. On the back, it had the names of the people in the picture and the date of when it was taken.

“Naruto Uzumaki,” she whispered and sat down by Kawaki.

“Why did you say that name?,” hearing the name purked Kawaki’s curiosity. He had just learned that was his biological mom’s name.

“Because that is the name of the man standing outside the door with my mom,” Those words there made Kawaki’s body run cold.
