Not quite

Shikamaru, Naruto, and Sasuke finally landed. The trio was nervous and anxious. They decided to book a hotel for the week. They hoped things would go smoothly so they could go home and be together with their families.

Shikamaru was anxious and a little excited at the same time. He was ready to see his partner again. He didn't want this to be another dead end for him. Neji was his other half and wanted it back in his arms.

"So what are we going to do for today?" Sasuke questioned, breaking the silence.

"I will check in with Shino to see if you can give me more information on Neji and Kawaki's whereabouts so we can begin on the right foot," Shikamaru commented. He pulled out his phone, dialed Shinos' number, and walked away from the pair.

Honestly, he didn't like being around other couples; it reminded him of what he was missing out on and what he probably won't have again. He had little faith in this trip; he didn't believe this person was Neji. He encountered many instances of missing Neji by just an inch or where the person wasn't Neji. Shikamaru did not like people playing in his face or with his emotions.

On the phone:

"Hey, Shikamaru, what's going on?"

"Hey Shino, How have you been, man?"

"What are you calling for? Is it about the current predicament?" Shino questioned.

"Yes, I would like to know if you could send me your guy's information on Neji and Kawaki's whereabouts. Sasuke, Naruto, and I landed in Seattle a few hours ago."

"I'll send all the information he gave me."

The phone call concluded with Shikamru getting the information about Neji's last known locations and house address. He learned he owned a pole dancing business and had a daughter. That part shocked him; he wondered if Neji had moved on or had just adopted the girl. He hoped it wasn't the first option because he would have to hunt down the bastard who had been intimate with his partner in that way. There was no way in hell Neji was going to be with anybody else, but he and he meant that.

Shikamaru decided to go to the gym and work out to relieve his anger. He did this to keep control over his mind and emotions. When it came to his family or personal possessions, he needed complete control to know that he had everything under his rule of thumb. But not too much to where he felt he wasn't letting the people around him feel like they couldn't be or do themselves.

With Neji not by his side, he needed activities to keep him and his mind busy.

Hours later:

Shikamaru finished his workout and decided to handle a work matter at a company in New York. He rarely came here, so paying the company a little visit would have been pleasant.

The drive to the company was a little hectic(New York traffic is always challenging), but Shikamaru made it. He knew the company should have been in somewhat good shape. His father's friend was over it, making sure everything ran smoothly.

Walking into the building, it looked like any other company. The company worked to provide herbs for medicine and many different practices. He walked to the front desk and began to talk to the receptionist.

“Hi, I'm Shikamaru Nara. I'm here to see Mr.Yamanaka."

"Okay, he is concluding the last of his meetings. He will be in his office as soon as he is done."

"Okay, thank you. Can you show me to his office, please?"

"Yes, right this way," she said, leading him to the elevator,r and they rode up to his office.

At the hotel

"I'm so nervous, Sas! What if you react badly to the news? This could be better. I don't want him to hate me," Naruto was having a little breakdown.

"Naruto, this is going to be fine; I feel if he's anything like Menma and Mikoto, he will react just fine, baby," he said, pulling him into a hug.

"Teme, I get that, but what if he reacts badly?? We don't know how his life has been this far. What if he has gone through a traumatic upbringing"? Naruto muttered into Sasuke's chest.

Naruto wanted this meeting to go well. He missed 14 years of his baby's life, and he just wanted this to go well, even if he had to handle every milestone a little at a time.

"Dob,e we will get through all of these milestones together. We are both his parents. Okay, we will push through," Sasuke reassured, kissing Naruto's head.

Neji' ’s side of town:

"Are you guys ready to go?"

Neji was sitting on the couch waiting for Hanami and Kawaki to get ready so they could head out to the store. He wanted to buy Kawaki clothes until he could figure out how to contact Naruto and Sasuke without his husband finding him.

"Well, Mom, you can't rush us; It takes time to look good," Hanami shouted from her room.

"What do you need to look good for? You're a little kid, Nami. It's not that deep, Neji chuckled.

"Whatever!"

Kawaki walked out and sat on the chair opposite him, dressed in some old clothes that Neji couldn't fit anymore. Before ringing Kawaki back to Naruto, he knew he needed to get his weight up. He knew his friend was very protective regarding his children's weight size. He liked them to be healthy, malnourished, and healthy. Neji understood this concept as a mo, then himself.

"So Kawaki, do you have any favorite foods? We have mainly a variety of foods that INami and I like to eat. I want to be comfortable here, so let me know what you would like to add when we go to the store."

"I'm fine with whatever you cook-"

Kawaki was interrupted by a knock at the door.

"I'm sorry, Kawak. Let me get that, and then we can continue this conversation, okay?"

"Ok"

After reassuring Kawaki one last time, Neji stood and walked to the door. He opened it and was shocked at who stood behind it.
