Missions
Kyoko woke up feeling very exhausted and drained, 'What happened? Oh yeah, we had to answer a lot of questions yesterday. Ugh!'
A knock came through her door, "Kyoko - chan, the breakfast your tou - san made is ready."
Kyoko, "Coming Okaa - chan."
Kyoko got up and washed herself before jumping into the shower. The day before had been quiet the doozy with them learning that the third doujutsu existed. No one knew how to react to the fact that Kakashi Hatake now had the infamous Rinnengan. Naruto had tried to talk to Kyuubi who only said one thing to him before throwing him out of the mindscape. Most of the kekkai genkai were actually descendant from older kekkai genkai, so to not be surprised.
Naruto had only said that and become very quiet muttering to himself. The Sandaime had looked like he had swallowed a hard pill as he rubbed his forehead. The Hokage had than ordered them to lay low while at the same time rewarding them for rediscovering an old doujutsu. Of course, before all of that, they had painstakingly healed, Kakashi Sensei's chakra paths. That had exhausted them too much to say anything to the fact they passed.
Kyoko joined her parents yawning, "Good morning."
Yume, "Koko - chan, are you alright?"
Tachiba was eyeing her worriedly as well, "You don't look so good."
Kyoko, "Huh? Oh, guess I am more exhausted than I thought previously."
Tachiba got up to check her temperature, "Well, your forehead is not warm, at least. Are you going to meet your team today?"
Kyoko shook her head, "No, the Hokage ordered us to lay low for a while. We can meet up but not as shinobi, I guess?"
Yume was worried now, "Does this have anything to do with your team having a meeting with the Hokage late into the night yesterday?"
Kyoko nodded, "Yeah, who knew having kekkai genkai could make life so complicated? I thank my stars I was not born into a kekkai genkai family."
Tachiba got up kissing his wife then his daughter , "I see. Well, do enjoy your day off, dear. I have a B rank mission with my team."
Yume, "And I need to get to the Hokage's office."
Kyoko, "Okay, see you later."
Kyoko got ready to go to the hospital instead, even though they were given a week off to stay low, it did not mean she would be lazy. Kyoko greeted Kabuto - sempai who smiled kindly at her, he was a strange one. At one point, she could feel hate and anger, against whom, she could not say. At another point, she saw Kabuto - sempai look at Naruto - kun with pity which made her confused. Then at another point Kabuto - sempai would glare at the village like he wanted it gone then revert back to kindness when Naruto came around.
Kyoko went through a file, 'I wonder what happened to make Kabuto - sempai angry at the village.'
Naruto entered the hospital next, "Good morning nee - chan."
Sasuke followed after him, "Morning, is Kakashi - Sensei here yet?"
Kyoko, "Not yet, but he should be here soon."
A nurse ran inside, "I need someone to help me with Team nine."
Naruto approached, "Coming, what happened?"
The nurse, a Rumiko spoke, "I don't know the details, but apparently their first C - rank turned into a B - rank."
Naruto nodded, "I see."
Neji perked up seeing him, "Naruto - kun, you received your hitai."
Lee, "Congratulations Naruto - kun."
Tenten, "Congratulations, you did it."
Naruto, "Thanks guys, what happened?"
Lee grimaced, "We ran into a Hoshigaki Kisame while delivering the letter to the fire Daimyo's castle."
Tenten shivered, "He was alone but so powerful."
Neji nodded, "If it weren't for Sensei, we would have been done for."
Naruto had a blank face on hearing the name of an S - ranked shinobi, "I will take care of Gai - Sensei. But first let's get your check ups done and out of the way. Nurse Rumiko, get the room prepped for Gai - Sensei."
Rumiko nodded, "Leave it to me."
Naruto got to work on his three friends checking them from head to toe. Kabuto - sempai joined him after a while and assured him he would make sure Neji, Lee and Tenten were okay. Naruto focused on Gai who had fallen unconscious right after they had reached Konoha. He used his chakra to feel for any problems aside from the chakra depletion. Luckily there was no sign of poison or foreign chakra in his body.
Naruto muttered under his breath, "Okay, there's no worry of poisoning. Okay, time to check his other vitals."
Lee was watching the process, "Will Gai - sensei be okay?"
Kabuto, "Don't worry, he will be fine."
Neji, "Naruto - kun would inform us."
Tenten muttered, "We have to inform Sandaime - sama too."
Naruto was focused on healing Gai - sensei to pay attention to anyone and anything else out there. He stayed focused not even paying attention to Kakashi - sensei who was being corralled by Sasuke to a room. Kyoko joined Naruto an hour before lunch once she had finished her round to observe. Ever since she had practiced her sun flames on Naruto to practice, Kyuubi had found a way to recreate it and use it. Naruto was not complaining as the sun flames or the sun healing palm was very effective.
Naruto wiped his forehead, "Phew! All done."
Kyoko, "You good?"
Naruto nodded, "Yeah, have I thanked you for teaching me this technique?"
Kyoko chuckled, "Many times, yes you did."
Neji, "Is that another jutsu you created?"
Kyoko, "Yes, but it seems only Naruto and I can use it."
Kabuto was looking at them with , "I tried but it didn't work. I am still trying to learn it."
Kyoko, "We can get together with the others and work on it together. I believe Team Eight and Team Six will be here after lunch."
Kabuto, "Works for me. Would you both along with Sasuke and Kakashi have lunch with me?"
Naruto beamed, "Sure, I will get Sasuke - kun and Kakashi - sensei."
Kyoko turned to Neji, Lee and Tenten, "What about you three?"
Neji shook his head warily, "Not today. I have a feeling our debrief will be long."
Tenten nodded, "Yeah what happened in our mission was not normal."
Lee looked depressed, "We need to get stronger. If Sensei had not been there."
Kabuto pat Lee's head, "That bad, huh? I understand, perhaps next time I can eat together with my Kouhais."
Tenten flushed seeing the kind smile, "I think we would like that Sempai."
Kyoko and Naruto though was eyeing Kabuto, that smile looked forced and fake. If they had not gotten to know Kabuto over the years they would have been fooled by the kind looking smile. They looked at each other and Kyoko could tell Naruto was confused, she would talk to him later. She nudged him to go and get Sasuke and Kakashi while she made sure Gai was stable. Naruto may have a hang of using sun flames but fact is, the dying will flames were almost impossible to get.
Chakra was such a wild and dominant energy source in this world and made it difficult for anyone else to reach their flames. It was a miracle that she found Naruto had the Sun flames too along with Sky flames. His Sky flames were not an potent but there were wisps of it in his Sun. Kyoko looked over Gai - Sensei's vitals and nodded, he would wake up once his chakra levels were back to normal. It could be at any moment since Naruto did a great job in replenishing his chakra stores while healing him up.
Gai sat up suddenly, "YOSH!"
Tenten, "Gai - Sensei!"
Neji, "Thank Kami, you are awake."
Lee, "Sensei we were so worried."
Gai gave them a reassuring grin, "I am okay, my dear students. Don't worry about me."
Kyoko cleared her throat, "Gai - san, Naruto - kun has gone to inform the Sandaime of your situation. He will be here soon to check on you."
Gai, "I see, thank you. I appreciate it."
Kyoko, "I would suggest resting till tomorrow morning before doing anything."
Gai, "Of course."
Kyoko looked at him with dark eyes, "You will be staying here to rest. Do not even think about escaping."
Gai sweated a bit, "O o of course not."
Tenten, "Don't worry, we will keep him here."
Lee and Neji nodded in agreement and Kyoko left after giving Gai another warning to not do anything stupid. Gai released the breath he had been holding and complimented his team on a successful mission. They delivered their objective returned alive so the mission was a huge success. The three nodded agreeing with his points though their defeat still left a sour taste in their mouths. But it was to be expected while battling an S rank nin.
Kyoko was with her team and Kabuto - sempai talking about what was happening back in the hospital. Hospital drama was always a fun topic to chat about. Naruto chimed in with his own gossip while Kakashi relaxed as he ate his lunch under Sasuke's watch. The ravenette had made it his own personal mission to make sure Kakashi - sensei was hundred percent healthy. Kyoko and Naruto noticed their sempai found their shenanigans very hilarious, if his soft eyes were anything to go by.
Naruto asked Kyoko after lunch, "Hey nee - chan, Kabuto - sempai was kind of cold earlier. Why was he?"
Kyoko hummed, "Some people like only a small set of people, Naruto - kun. In our Sempai's case that small set consisted of Naomi, you and me. He can be polite to others but will not like them."
Sasuke nodded, "She's right, he doesn't like me either, he does adore you though Naruto."
Kakashi, "Maa maa, what's this all about?"
Kyoko, "Nothing much Sensei, promise. Our Sempai just has favorites."
Sasuke, "Naruto is his number one favorite."
Naruto flushed, "No, I am not."
Kyoko cooed at his cute reaction, "But you are outoto, almost everyone who meets you and takes the time to know you loves you."
Kakashi decided to tease his student, "Maa ~ I can already see how many people will want to be your lover. I think, I need to make myself more terrifying. With my Rinnengan they should be scared enough to not hurt you."
Sasuke chuckled darkly, "If they even have the chance."
Kyoko had a dark glint in her eyes, "They will have to go through me first."
They were protective of their sunshine, sue them and Naruto tried to calm them down saying he was not interested in romance yet. Sasuke's eyes gleamed, that only meant he would be later, he would wait, no problem. Soon Torune joined them saying Naomi was staying back with Sakura to help her. Hinata joined them a few minutes later looking exhausted after chasing her Sensei everywhere. Shino was going with Kiba to help him and Akamaru clean up from the mess they were.
Kyoko then started to guide them through the technique of accessing their flames. It had Kabuto eye her in deep curiosity, it did not feel like normal chakra. Kyoko agreed it was not normal chakra, what they were looking for was something innate and linked close to their souls. That had them blinking and asking if it was even possible. Kyoko admitted to figuring out she could after she almost died and Naruto confessed it was the Kyuubi who allowed him to use it.
Kabuto was floored, "You, you ah. You know about it."
Naruto nodded, "Hard not to figure out with all the adults saying it out loud without any filter."
Kabuto nodded, "I see, I am sorry to hear that. Do the rest of your friends?"
Kyoko, "We figured it out together actually. The way some of the adults treated Naruto really pissed us off."
Sasuke snorted "We had to hold Kyoko here back from pummeling them to the ground."
Kyoko, "They would have deserved it."
Hinata hummed, "And we would have helped in hiding the body if she did succeed in pummeling him."
Torune, "The body would be burned to a crisp. No one would know."
Naruto was red, "You guys, nee - chan, you don't have to."
Sasuke, "Naruto you are our friend and teammate."
Kyoko, "You are my outoto."
Hinata, "My best friend."
Torune, "We protect our own through hook or crook."
Kabuto sweat dropped, 'What are they teaching them these days? So violent.'
The rest of the practice went on with Kyoko telling Kabuto of the jutsu Naruto created making his eyes bulge. It had been classified as an S - rank due to the high density of chakra required, despite the questionable reason for which it was created. The two of them were now working on creating another jutsu together. It would combine their chakra element with a sword to create elemental slash. It sounded good in theory but application would be a different matter, Kabuto wished them luck.
