Kyoko Reborn as Shinobi!

Kyoko hummed as she and her team arrived at the bridge their Sensei had requested they meet. She wondered what her Sensei had to say to them that could not be said at the hospital. Sasuke was telling them about how he was planning on taking over Kakashi's health care as his main medic. Kyoko agreed that was not a bad idea, their wayward Sensei seemed to always find a way to avoid the other medics. She wished he didn't and was relieved that their Sensei at least listened to them.

Naruto looked around, "We are here, but where's Sensei?"

Sasuke shrugged, "No idea."

Kyoko sat by the railings pulling them along, "Maybe at the memorial stone? He tends to spend hours there."

Naruto and Sasuke nodded at that, it was one of the more peculiar habits their leader had. Kyoko figured everyone had their own ways to cope with grief. The last whole month, they had become very accustomed to each other's habits and quirks. Kyoko's obsession with creating new things, Sasuke's tunnel vision and Naruto's use of seals for every occasion. It could be something as simple as cleaning and there was a seal to clean.

The cleaning seal became very popular among the shinobi who did not have the patience to clean their rooms but were too paranoid to allow a maid inside. Their team lunch had gone well with Neji, Lee and Tenten joining them. Sakura had an interesting reaction to Neji and Lee. The first one simply greeting her with a nod while the other was openly flirting. That had raised Ino's hackles and Kyoko forced them outside to fight it out.

Naruto poked her cheek, "What are you thinking of neechan?"

Sasuke, "Another new jutsu or food concoction?"

Kyoko, "Well, I have a few jutsus in my mind but I have to hash it out first. As for food, I was thinking about our last team lunch."

Naruto, "Oh, I remember. Lee - kun and Ino - chan really went at it."

Sasuke, "Poor Sakura - san was very embarrassed. I don't think I have ever seen her turn that red before."

Kyoko, "She was hiding behind Naomi - chan. I thought it was cute."

Naruto laughed, "She fainted when you pointed that out."

Sasuke, "It stopped Ino and Lee's fighting. Who knew Yamanaka had such a petty protective streak?"

Kyoko chuckled, "Yeah, she kept sitting between Sakura - san and the boys. She even forgot about her rivalry with Naomi - chan."

Kakashi popped in at that moment, "Who forgot their rivalry? Did Gai forget?"

Naruto, "No, we are talking about Ino - chan. She was fighting with Lee - kun last time we got together."

Kakashi eye smiled, "Oh? I heard about her rivalry with Naomi - tan. I didn't know she found a new rival."

Sasuke snorted, "She's really very protective of Sakura, sometimes she reminds me of you Kyoko - chan."

Kyoko, "Huh? Really?"

Naruto, "You were really awesome when you came to save me from the bullies and the adults."

Kakashi was eye smiling at them enjoying the moe, 'My students are so adorable.'

Sasuke, "Hey Sensei, it's good to see both your eyes in the open again."

Kyoko nodded in agreement, "Yeah, heterochromia is very attractive you know?"

Naruto, "Eh? Really nee - chan?"

Kyoko, "Yup, heterochromia is very rare. I know a lot of people have strange eye and hair colour due to chakra but different colour eyes are rare even with the chakra."

Kakashi flushed behind his mask feeling pleased, "Is that so? Thank you, my little pups."

Sasuke, "So good looks aside, why did you call us here Sensei?"

Naruto, "Yeah, what do you have to say that could not be said at the hospital?"

Kakashi, "About that, you three are going on a C - rank mission."

Kyoko was surprised, "Wait Sensei, slow down."

Sasuke, "Shouldn't we be doing D - ranks first?"

Naruto, "Yeah Sensei, while I am happy to get a C - rank, isn't that jumping the gun like nee - chan says?"

Kakashi, "That is true. But it also stands to reason, you three have done a very good job helping our fellow shinobi. The Hokage had seen this and given us a C - rank mission. Don't worry it is a very simple mission, we only need to escort a builder home."

Kyoko was wary, "What can I say Sensei, the last month has been crazy."

Naruto nodded running his hand through his hair, "Team Six had a simple D - rank inside the village which turned into A - rank two weeks ago when Mizuki escaped."

Kakashi, "That was bad luck."

Sasuke, "Team Nine's C - rank turned into S - rank and they barely escaped with their lives."

Kakashi, "It can be dangerous out there, yes."

Kyoko, "Team Ten's D - rank turned into A - rank the same day as Team Six's because they had run into Mizuki."

Kakashi, "Well Team Eight was... "

Sasuke, "Team Eight also dealt with a D - rank turning into B - rank just yesterday."

Naruto, "Point is Sensei, we are a little wary to just leave our posts at the hospital. What if the other teams need help? Chouji - kun was poisoned, where Mizuki got his hands on the poison is anyone's guess."

Kakashi pat his head, "You three are very kind. Don't worry, this mission will last for two weeks at longest, one week at shortest."

Kyoko hesitated, "Is it okay to just leave?"

Sasuke asked quietly, "Won't we be needed here?"

Kakashi smiled, "Do not fret my little pups. I know you worry, but Kabuto - kun has assured me, he will hold the home front with Hinata - chan and Torune - kun."

Kyoko eyed him, "Okay Sensei, we trust you."

Naruto and Sasuke nodded in agreement and Kakashi smiled at them telling them to get ready and meet them at gate three. Gate three was towards the East Coast and Kyoko wondered where exactly they are heading to. She packed up a standard medic pack and met up with the others at the gate where an old man was waiting. Naruto had packed the standard pack for Seal Masters while Sasuke packed the standard medic pack as well. Kakashi was talking to their client while she stood next to her teammates.

Naruto muttered, "He is not speaking the truth."

Sasuke whispered, "He is hiding something."

Kyoko, "We will figure it out soon."

Kakashi addressed them after a few minutes, "Shall we, my pups? This is Tazuna - san, our client."

Sasuke, "Yes Sensei."

Kyoko, "Ready as ever."

Naruto, "Let's get this show on the road."

They walked most of the time while stopping for breaks, at some of the smaller civilian based settlements. The first two days had been peaceful without any problems and getting to know the bridge builder. The man had been surprised to know the three of them were official healers and took care of those who were hurt. Naruto had regaled him with tales of his friends having run into dangerous shinobi out there and returning barely alive.

Kyoko watched Tazuna clench his bottle when Naruto mentioned dangerous nin but didn't name any. What a strange reaction! She locked eyes with her leader and he nodded at her, their client was definitely holding information back. The next day Naruto was still chatting the bridge builder up with stories. Despite the grumpy demeanor Kyoko could tell Tazuna appreciated the distraction Naruto gave him.

Kakashi, 'Amateurs.'

Kyoko, 'It has not rained in days.'

Sasuke moved behind Tazuna, 'Well, at least this won't be hard if they are that dumb.'

He stopped right in front of the puddle after Tazuna had crossed and then punched it hard. Kyoko had taught all of them, even Kakashi - Sensei how to use a chakra based punch. Tazuna jumped at the loud sound the punch created and looked back to see Sasuke engaged in a fight. Naruto created three clones and surrounded Tazuna while Kyoko joined in the fray.

Kakashi watched them work together doing both the fighting and protecting. One of their enemies threw a weapon at their client which was intercepted by a clone that dissipated. Naruto visibly winced on receiving the shadow clone's memory, there was poison on their blades. The clone technique was a gift from his Jiji for passing the exam with good scores. Kyoko had a fun time figuring out what was special about the clone. She was however not amused to know whatever pain the clones felt, he felt it too.

Kyoko nee - chan had forbidden him from using the shadow clones outside of their training schedules. Seeing his nee - chan glare, Naruto knew, she had noticed and braced himself for a lecture. Kakashi Sensei had also rounded on their client questioning him while Sasuke kept a look out. The dark haired teen pretended not to notice Naruto's pleading eyes and resisted the urge to hide him. Kyoko could be terrifying when it came to personal safety and health.

Sasuke, 'I will make it up to you later Naruto.'

Kakashi tapped Kyoko's shoulder, "Maa, Maa, I am sure Naruto - kun is okay. Calm down mama - Koko."

Kyoko glared at him, "No, he is not. You don't know this Sensei but Naruto has a bad habit of concealing his hurt and pain. I refuse to let him suffer in silence, if I have to scold him to open up, I will."

Tazuna looked at her, "You sound more like his mother than his teammate."

Kyoko, "I will take that as a compliment. Don't think you are out of hot water either."

Kakashi nodded when Tazuna gulped, "Now, here's my question. Should we continue this mission or abandon it?"

Kakashi's three pups looked at each other before nodding and deciding to continue the mission. They were close to the country of Waves anyway, might as well drop their client off alive. They restarted their travel but not before Kakashi sent Pak - kun to Konoha with a message. They waited for a few hours which helped Kyoko calm down and an ANBU picked up their hostages.

Kakashi, "We will be entering Wave country soon. Game face on my little pups."

Sasuke, "Yeah, let's go."

Tazuna, "I know, you are angry but please understand, Wave is struggling with economic problems and don't have much money to offer."

Kyoko snapped in irritation, "Then you could have applied for a loan instead."

Tazuna paused, "A what?"

Kakashi was curious too, "How would that help?"

Naruto, "What's a loan?"

Kyoko took a deep breath, "A loan is basically, you taking out a hefty sum of money from the bank with a legal contract and obligation to pay it back with interest. The more late you are the more interest you have to pay."

Tazuna blinked, "That can be done?"

Sasuke, "Yes, it could have helped you put this mission up as an A - rank, at least. You could have been assigned ANBU instead of us Genin."

Naruto, "When I take over Jiji's office, I will make sure there is a facility where they can take loans. I bet the other missions were mislabeled due to similar reasons."

Kyoko, "Not similar no, but this one particular problem can be avoided if we had that system."

Kakashi hummed watching them debate the pros and cons of loans, 'Looks like there is another contender for the position of Hokage's advisor, not just the Naras. That is if Kyoko - chan agrees to it but she would probably end up babying Naruto. So, maybe not.'

Back in Konoha Shikamaru sneezed getting concerned looks from his teammates. He waved their concern off saying he was not falling sick. Ino however insisted he get a check up done anyway, the last thing they needed was Team Seven, especially Kyoko breathing down their neck. Their Sensei actually considered that point and promptly hauled his laziest student to the hospital. Torune blinked on seeing them especially Azuma - Sensei request an appointment.

He offered to check on their health to which Chouji was very relieved. Shikamaru was disgruntled but decided Torune was better than the scary Kyoko. He did not know why but despite Kyoko's kind nature his instincts screamed at him to never anger her. He did not feel that way about Azuma nor about Anko or Kakashi, the last time he met them. The two of them were the strongest shinobi in the group aside from Gai. But there was something about Kyoko that demanded respect and wariness that he could not put his finger on.

Shikamaru, 'Maybe, because she can be very unpredictable and hard to catalogue.'

He had asked his Dad and Uncle Inojin but both had found it hard to get a read on Kyoko. He did sort of understood why Ino had been very annoyed by the brunette girl. Anko and Ibiki however had been very impressed when they met Team Seven to get their statement. But even they could not get a read on Kyoko despite her very open expression. Perhaps that was the problem then, she was too open making it hard to get a reading? Shikamaru would figure her out, just watch.
