Chapter 2
Chapter two
''Her only working jutsu''
Today was the day. Asuna had her exam today and she really looked forward to it. The problem was, would Naruto pass this time? She hoped she would, she couldn't live with herself if he didn't and was held back again. Asuna had goals in life, and for those goals to come along, she had to pass today, so that she could start her training with a Jounin, someone highly skilled in everything. Someone who could teach her how to control her powers, her chakra, and her jutsu, and make a good ninja out of her.
But all that would happen only if she passed and it didn't look like she had much confidence. She wouldn't be happy with herself if her best friend didn't pass. She needed Naruto to pass so she wouldn't have to be held back too.
Asuna looked down at herself, dressed in a plain white tank top and black pants, her gear strapped to her pants belt, she didn't really look like a ninja, she almost seemed normal, blending in with the rest of the villagers. But that little girl had power beyond the limits, something she knew, she was a bright child, curious and a Sato, which was something she still needed to look into. She never met her parents, she only knew their names, Kai Sato and Hitomi Sato. She knew they were powerful ninja, especially her father, but no one really wanted to talk to her about it, some even refused to be asked twice. Not even Iruka mentioned he knew something about them.
But she wasn't going to give up just yet, she was stubborn, sometimes more than Naruto was, she was going to find something to lean on and move on with her life. Plus she had no idea what her chakra nature was, if she had any kekkei Genkai, or if she was more of a medical type, her parents would be the key to that and she really wanted to know things. Like if she got her hair color from her mother or father, or it was some kind of a clan thing like the Uchiha'a black hair and black-greyish eyes that ran among all of them.
''Asuna!'' She heard and stopped in place, before she turned her head back, tilting it to the side, seeing Naruto running to catch up with her.
''Ohayo.'' She said and started walking again as Naruto coughed up to her.
''I'm going to pass today! Believe it!''He said with so much enthusiasm that Asuna believed it would happen, this time for sure, she believed in him and she hoped that would be enough.
''I believe it.''She said and smiled softly at him, looking down at the ground, going deep inside her mind and rethinking her trail of thoughts from last night.
''After you pass, you can go home,'' Iruka said and called name after name, but it was never Asuna's name. Even Naruto passed already, even though she had no idea if he had passed the test. Clone jutsu. It was his worst and her least favorite. She knew the basics, but never really put much thought into it as she did with all the other jutsu's she knew.
''Sato Asuna.''Iruka finally called her name, making her look up from her black leather book, something, actually, the only thing she bought herself.
''Finally.'' She snapped the book shut and followed after Iruka to the next room, where she saw a bunch of headbands with the leaf symbol on and another man, she knew only the face of.
''Go ahead,'' Iruka said and Asuna took a deep breath, closing her eyes and focusing, making three solid clones of herself, perfect replicas.
''You pass Asuna, congratulations,'' Iruka said, pointing with his hand to the band she always dreamed about, but something was hanging in the air. She could tell from the sad look Iruka was trying to hide from her.
''Naruto didn't pass?''She asked as she took a tight hold of the headband, looking up at her sensei.
Iruka just sighed and shook his head, his lips parted as he was going to say something, but Asuna was already gone, jumping out the window, she had to find him.
And she did, a few minutes later, he was sitting on the lone swing, looking down, his sad look piercing her heart like a knife.
''Naruto.'' She called out, making those sad baby blue eyes look up from the ground and seconds later avoiding her like she was the plague.
''If my belief in you was enough....''She started as she took a few steps closer, hearing the people mumble from behind her, making her anger ignite.
''You would have been Hokage by now.''She said truthfully, finally making him look up at her, he almost seemed like he wanted to cry.
''Can...can you leave me alone for a while?''He asked and she nodded her head, walking closer to him and wrapping her hands around him tightly, hugging him with all she had in her.
''No one, and I mean no one, can say you will not be a ninja. You are a hard-working man who will one day be the most powerful Hokage this world has ever seen and I know this because I will be the one who helps you get there, we just need to take a breath and make a new plan of action.''She said and with that, left him there. She didn't really want to but she knew he wanted to be alone for a bit, she could understand that.
''So you passed this time.''Came a voice, which belonged to one Sasuke Uchiha, who seemed to be leaning on a tree, his hands crossed at his chest, giving her a look of impassiveness.
''Of course, I did.''Asuna snapped back and turned to face him fully, her eyes were set hard on him, she thought he was being too cocky even for an Uchiha.
''Hn.'' He said, pushing himself off the tree, his hands going inside his pockets, looking at her with something she rarely saw in him. Interest.
''Spar with me.''He said suddenly when he came close enough to her. She blinked but nodded her head, she wanted to spar with him too, those two had never been put against each other.
Asuna followed after him, her head down as she looked at the ground, her thoughts on the fight about to happen. Sasuke was good with a kunai and he knew a fire jutsu or two. What could she counter him with? She was good with Taijutsu, but would that be enough? Maybe, Sasuke wasn't that much of a fist-fighter, which she found odd for a male, but she didn't comment on it.
She finally snapped out of her thoughts when she felt the ground under her feet turn to grass and she looked at Sasuke, who was making his way a few meters away from her, turning to face her after a minute. Asuna smirked and took her shoes off, tossing them to the side, her bare feet feeling the earth beneath her.
Sasuke looked at her like she was a little out of her mind, but didn't comment on it, the look on his face, his eyes watching her feet move around in the grass was enough to make her own eyes narrow at him. So what if she liked to fight barefoot? She liked to feel the vibes from the ground touch her bare feet, it relaxed her and she found it pleasing to the mind and body alike.
''Let's go.''She said and before Sasuke could blink, she leaned forward, under him, her fist colliding with his jaw.
''Get up Sasuke.''The tone in her voice showed she was very serious now, something Sasuke had never seen in her before. She would be most curious or lazy, sometimes excited when Naruto was around or up to something, she smiled from time to time, and he once made her blush a little.
But Sasuke never saw Asuna seriously and that made his body tense up.
He got up, jumping in place, side to side, rolling his neck, he didn't take her as seriously as she did him and that made him feel stupid, but he soon shook the feeling off, he implied showing her what Sasuke Uchiha was made of.
''I'll make you regret doing that.''He sounded pissed to Asuna, which made her feel prideful, she made the great Sasuke Uchiha use words instead of his usual Hn.
''I'm waiting.''She smirked and leaned forward, using her speed, which was one of her assets as a kunoichi, making her feet touch the ground for less than a second, if Sasuke used his Sharingan, he would be able to see it, but alas, he still hadn't awakened it, which made everything she did, in those next few seconds invisible to him.
She made her way closer and closer, the blur of red what all he could see, but he was ready this time. He pushed the kunai closer to his body, legs parted, ready to jump up or down. His eyes shifted every second, she was about to come out at him, he knew it, he thought he was ready.
But he was not.
She came from above him, her feet hitting the back of him, sending him a few meters away, and slid across the grassy ground. He managed to push the kunai into the ground, stopping himself, his face twisting in danger. He was mad like a mad hatter and Asuna stopped smiling to herself, someone finally managed to push Sasuke's ego down to the ground and she won the bragging rights. But her chest felt heavy with guilt when he got up, blood going down his lip's side. He probably hit a rock on his sliding adventure.
''I think we should stop now.''She said but he shook his head and without a warning, was running at the top speed her way, his kunai gripped in his hand, his eyes set hard on her.
He was Sasuke Uchiha, he was going to be the best ninja out there, he had big plans and this little barefoot girl was making him look like Naruto, a loser in Sasuke's eyes, better.
''No.'' Was all he said when his kunai collided with her hand, bare hand against sharp kunai, he thought she would be hurt, but her hand was glowing black, a mist coming out and stopping at her wrist, her hand unhurt by the kunai.
She pushed him away with her other hand and panted, the using of her top speed was taking her to this point, she was starting to feel tired, or at least her legs were. But Sasuke didn't look like he was going to let her go any time soon, there was something in his eyes that put a chill down her spine like he was angry at her for something she did.
''OK.''She said and pulled her own kunai out, she couldn't use her jutsu to block another hit from it as she did before.
''I need to go soon, so why don't we really get started.''She said calmly and made a solid clone of herself, which disappeared just as fast, Sasuke was stunned, what was she planning to do?
But before he could do or say anything, everything turned black, he was so focused on everything else but right at his back, where the clone sneaked up, knocking him out cold.
''Why does that keep working on everybody?''She asked herself, before sighting and picking the boy by the arms, dragging him over to a tree, placing him against the bark, before making her way off the training grounds and to her home.
