New Friends
Ayano POV:
Once it was the second day of school, I was sitting near the water fountain at the school’s plaza during lunch time. I’ve already made my own bento this morning, filled with 2 onigiris, 4 sushi rolls, rice with sesame and beef, and a few sweets I would add after eating the main lunch. I even would bring a bottle of strawberry ramune soda to drink, or a boba tea from the boba store nearby.
As I was eating by myself, 2 other girls walked up to me as I took my first bite of rice.
“Hey there!” One of them exclaimed, and I looked up. There were 2 girls standing in front of where I was sitting. One of the girls had purple hair in 2 short twin drilled ponytails, with 2 white hair ties, right-swept bangs and rounded locks, and the other girl had cyan hair with 2 long spiral twin tails, shorter pieces of hair hanging down the sides of her head and curling inwards towards her face. Both of them were smiling.
“Hello.” I said back to them, “Can I help you?”
“Well, we were just wondering if you wanted to sit with us?” One of the girls responded, and introduced herself and her friend. “I’m Kokona, and this is my friend Saki.”
The other girl waved, both of them smiling sweetly. I put my chopsticks down, as I was going to tell them who I am. “I’m Ayano Aishi.” I said to them with a normal tone. As I stood up, Kokona asked. “We were wondering if you wanna sit with us?”
I didn’t really say anything to that at first, as I looked down at my bento. Telling the fact that she asked if I wanted to sit with her and her friend for lunch. Though I’ve decided after picking up my bento and my drink. “Sure, why not?” I responded.
We went somewhere else to eat our lunch. We sat inside the tea house of our school, as I sat in front of the 2 who were together. They were Kokona and Saki, both of them were friends for quite a while. As I got to know about them, I told them about myself.
“Wow, you and your parents are overseas? I never knew that.” Kokona said.
“They are currently in America for a couple of weeks, just a business trip my mom told me about.” I said, “They left a few days before I started second year of high school.”
As we ate, we talked a couple more minutes. I’ve gotten along with Kokona and Saki quite well, as they seemed quite nice. Even though I usually had the same expression on my face thanks to that condition I had, they didn’t seem to notice that. Easy to say… that I made 2 new friends. Something I didn’t know would happen for me.
A couple of hours later, we’ve already finished our classes for the day. After cleaning time, the 3 of us walked together home. We had a normal conversation as we walked, until I reached my house.
“Well, there’s my home.” I said, and I walked up to my door. I looked back at Kokona and Saki.
“See you tomorrow, Yan-Chan!” Kokona exclaimed, “Do you wanna hang out with us tomorrow after school? We’re planning on hanging out at the cafe.”
“Maybe, I’ll think about it.” I responded, Kokona chuckled. “I’ll see you 2 tomorrow at school.”
“Bye Ayano!” Saki exclaimed, as I headed inside my house.
Hours later, I sat in my bedroom using my phone. Since I’ve met Kokona and Saki, it was obvious we would exchange numbers. The 3 of us were texting in this little group chat, and tomorrow I was to meet them after school at this little maid cafe.
These girls seemed to be really nice when we spoke to each other, and I was pretty sure we would make good friends. At least it was the first way to make me feel slightly normal around people.
As I finished texting, I headed down to the kitchen to fix myself something to eat. Thinking about how tomorrow will turn out for me, since I’ll be hanging out after school.
