Chapter Two
"Doctor King, I need you to go to Mrs Aston, she's torn slightly and will need a few stitches." Cora nodded quickly grabbing her jacket and back, driving hurriedly toward the Aston Residence.
And it seems she'd arrived just in time, walking into a volatile situation, "You leave her alone now or so help me God Mr Aston. Now you go somewhere to cool off."
The man scoffed, "Cool off?!"
"Calm down, because I will call the police Mr Aston, rest assured I will." He let out a huff,
"Get rid of it or I swear I will." He stormed past Cora as the Doctor looked at both Jenny and Mrs Aston.
Once the stitches were done Cora pulled Jenny aside.
"So soon she's only just given birth." Cora let out a long sigh,
"And what if Mr Aston should come back tonight? We can't take that risk. Trixie will stay at mine tonight, and we'll look after the baby until Miss Ellaby can secure foster parents."
Jenny looked away, with a pained expression as she glanced at the baby and Mrs Aston, "I don't want to take her baby."
Cora nodded in understanding, "Nobody wants this, but we have to make sure the baby is safe, and she isn't safe here. If you can't, I will."
Jenny shook her head, walking away, as Cora lingered in the kitchen.
"Doctor King and Nurse Franklin will shelter Carol tonight, until she can be found a place, with a foster family..."
When Jenny returned she came back with Little baby Carol, handing her to Carol as she prepared to leave.
"Oh she is gorgeous isn't she." Cora nodded as she prepared a bottle,
"That she is, and you Nurse Franklin look like the perfect mother." Trixie smiled,
"Well aren't you charming tonight, and you look like a perfect working father, shirt sleeves rolled up, towel over your shoulder making a bottle." Cora let out a short chuckle,
"Why thank you darling, I must admit I've never thought much about children of my own. Never really had time I suppose between the Army and then training to become a doctor." Trixie nodded slowly,
"Well I think you would be perfect, and children already love you." Cora scoffed,
"They do when I'm not giving them an injection, but it's just something I've never thought about it, marriage either I suppose, it seems I'm destined to die a retired doctor who never married with no one around me." Trixie let out a gasp,
"How dare you Cora King, you know I will always be with you, regardless of whether or not you want it. I'll be that old crone that annoys you until you take your medication." Cora shook her head walking over to Trixie and the baby.
"Never, you Trixie Franklin will never be an old crone, it's simply not possible, you'rere cursed to forever be gorgeous."
Miss Ellaby came the next afternoon to collect the baby, and despite her reluctance Cora handed her over, Trixie's head on her chest,
"You know this has all got me thinking." Cora cocked a brow as she began packing baby things back into their boxes.
"Oh yeah about what my darling?" Trixie sighed as she tidied the living room,
"What would you do if I came to you pregnant." Cora nearly choked on her own saliva looking over at Trixie,
"You're not up the duff are you?" Trixie giggle shaking her head,
"Of course not, but what if I was?" Cora shrugged,
"Depends, who's the fella who's done it, where is he, do I need to kill him, was it consensual, when did it happen, how did it happen, are you marrying him, do I need to set a nursery in the spare room, are you moving in with me?" Trixie giggled slightly at her rambling, answering each question as she took a step toward Cora,
"I don't know the man, I don't know where he is, you never need to kill anyone for me, yes I consented, about three months ago, it was a night of passion, no I'm not marrying him, yes, and yes if you'd have me." Cora smiled as Trixie approached her from behind,
"Then I'd have you up on a table in the Maternity home, legs spread checking everything's okay." Trixie hit her with a towel,
"Oh Cora how crude, and who says I would spread my legs for you?" Cora smirked trapping Trixie between the counter and her body,
"Well you're welcome to have Doctor Turner do it but I have been told I'm a more attractive sight." Trixie quirked a brow,
"Oh yeah and who's telling you that." Cora raised a brow,
"Only all the married women in poplar, it seems my charms affect all women, even the married ones." Trixie scoffed,
"And you suppose you have the same effect on me?" Cora shrugged,
"I don't know, do I?" Trixie grasped her tie pulling her closer,
"In your dreams Cora King." Cora nodded their faces still inches apart,
"You certainly are Beatrix Franklin." Trixie smirked seductively sauntering away toward the door to the bedroom,
"Well then soldier, are you going to show me what you're made of or not?" Cora threw the towel onto the counter striding over to Trixie picking her up carrying her over the threshold of the bedroom.
"I didn't think it would be like that." Cora smiled looking down at Trixie the Nurse tracing patterns on Cora's chest absentmindedly.
"In a good way or?..." Trixie sat up smiling,
"In a good way, it's always a good way when I'm with you, but I just didn't expect so much..." She trailed off unable to find the right words to Cora inserted one for her,
"Pleasure?" She nodded, placing her head back on Cora's chest, this time her fingers were dancing on Cora's abs, six very defined abs, that made her giddy.
"Yes, this isn't going to change anything between us is it?" Cora shook her head holding Trixie tightly,
"Never, we are exactly as we were with some added benefits." Trixie shook her head in disbelief although her smile never faded.
