Sun through the window
Tobirama opened the front door. He frowned at the silence in the house. Taking off his sandals and armor to leave them in the hall closet, he went in search of Mito. The living room, kitchen, and dining room were empty, and in the laundry room, he could see the slightly damp laundry. Tobirama grabbed the clothes and hung them outside before heading upstairs. He was getting worried now; this was very different from Mito. On his days off, dinner was ready when he got home, and he did the same on his own.
A sigh of relief fell upon Tobirama when he saw Mito curled up with a book on one of the window seats in her bedroom. She was so absorbed in it that she didn't even notice. With a smile, Tobirama leaned against the doorframe and just stared at her.
The sun shone through the window, framing her and making her reddish hair shine. Tobirama crossed his arms over his chest and stared at her openly. Several minutes passed before Mito looked up from her book and saw Tobirama.
“Hey, you’re home early,” he greeted with a smile.
“Early?” Tobirama raised an eyebrow and entered the room. Mito moved a little closer so he could join her. “How long do you think you’ve been sitting here?”
Mito looked over at Tobirama's nightstand to see a stamp telling him the time and stared at him, her eyes wide. "I was just going to read for an hour," she said, surprised. "With the sun shining, he looked so attractive while he changed the sheets. I'm sorry."
Tobirama laughed and leaned in to kiss her, lifting a hand to cup her cheek as he did so. When he pulled away, Mito stood up and threw the book onto her bed.
“I’m going to make dinner.”
Before she could take a single step away from him, Tobirama grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back. He lifted one leg to rest on the seat and leaned against the wall. Mito landed on the seat between his legs, her back pressed against his cheek and his arms wrapped around her waist so she couldn't get up again.
"Or we could stay here, enjoy the sun, and get takeout later," he whispered in her ear.
Mito smiled and moved to sit a little more comfortably, leaning back against Tobirama and closing her eyes.
"I like that plan," he agreed.
For the next hour they sat in silence, enjoying each other's presence and the sunlight through the window warming their place.
