10 A Virgin Spring
Minerva had been at her desk when she heard on the Monday morning of Madam Umbridge’s arrest. she had placed a mask of shock on her face and tried to cover the fact she was rolling with laughter inside. She had looked for Moody but knew he would be busy but none-the-less missed him.
To her annoyance she had been asked not to work on any of the cases or paperwork on her desk but it all had been magically bound with spells that had been witnessed by a Senior Auror who watched a junior officer carry out this task. It had not just been Minerva affected but other witches in the large office. She stood around without anything to do. She had been questioned and mentioned about work being given to her late in the day by Umbridge and thankfully she had a note of all of the files in her notebook. She passed her book to the Auror who checked and then duplicated it. He then handed her the copy as he kept the original for evidence.
It was later that day she was invited into a meeting with the Minister himself with Headmaster Dumbledore sneaking in behind her making her jump.
She had been very angry when she had exited the office. She had been sacked by the Minister and ordered to take up a post at Hogwarts. Dumbledore was behind this she knew. She had not wanted to teach on leaving school but wanted more experiences first.
The old bastard had manipulated her current situation to his own benefit. No doubt the Minister himself was glad to be rid of her moaning about the lack of choice for female employees in the Ministry. She had wanted to train as an Auror but been refused - more than twice.
She had been ordered to silence and not to speak about MadamUmbridge to anyone unless invited to give evidence at her trial. They were unaware of her work with Moody and she planned to keep it that way. She was due to begin work at Hogwarts after the school break and would begin on the 9th of January .
She had been due over two weeks leave with pay. She had smirked on the way home as she had managed to secure a better pay deal at Hogwarts, free accommodation and a teaching clothing allowance. She loved some parts of her education but planned to be a good teacher even though she would not see Moody for a while.
She was annoyed when all of her Owl’s to Moody were returned. Even from Hogwarts her mail got returned to her. She could not Floo from Hogwarts either unless it was via the Headmasters Floo and that was out of bounds to a junior teacher. She was also not permitted off school grounds till she had completed her probation. Dumbledore had been delighted to tell her that and that it would be six months till she was free to roam out of the grounds.
She vowed never to forget how she had been manipulated but managed to keep her thoughts to herself. One thing she had discovered as a child in her first year at Hogwarts was never to eat or drink anything offered to her from the Headmaster and with Dumbledore now in charge she knew to be on her guard, even more so, as he could read minds so she always ensured she never made eye contact with him.
