Rio returned, clutching her head as she sank to the floor, leaning on the front door. Agatha saw her, crouching next to her. Her hand stroked her face, watching Rio tremble slightly.

“Tough day?”

Rio nodded, though the softness of Agatha’s voice did something unexplainable to her: she felt more… relaxed, somehow.

Agatha pulled her head onto her lap, stroking her hair. “Do you wanna talk about it?”

Rio shook her head.

“Okay. Let’s just sit here for a bit.”

“I don’t want you to get cold.” The words came out in something Agatha didn’t even think was a whisper.

“I’m okay.”

Agatha watched as Rio fidgeted with her promise ring. She interlaced her fingers with Rio’s, planting a kiss on her forehead.

“I just need a minute.”

“Take as long as you need, my love.”

They sat in silence for a bit.

“Do you wanna take a walk in the forest? That always makes you feel better.”

Rio’s lips twitched into a smile. “I’d like that.”

Rio breathed in the fresh air of the forest, skipping down the path. Being in the nature always made her feel better. Agatha followed, a smile on her face as she watched her love.

“You’re right, this was a good idea.”

Agatha chuckled as she shook her head. “That’s cause I know you, honey.”

Rio smiled, turning around. “I—“ She paused when she saw Agatha lose her balance and lean on a nearby tree so as to not fall. “Agatha!”

“I’m fine, I’m fine.” She insisted as Rio put her arms around her waist to steady her.

“What’s wrong?”

“I—I’m feeling lightheaded, that’s all.” She took a deep breath. “Just give me a minute, I’ll be fine.”

“Did you drink water today?”

Agatha blinked.

“Yesterday?”

Agatha blinked even more. “Will you be less mad if I say yes?”

Rio sighed. “Sweetheart, you have to drink water.”

“Says who?”

Rio furrowed her brows.

Agatha rolled her eyes. “It’s fine, I’m used to this. My mom left me without water for days, I can handle this.”

Worry replaced the mix of feelings visible on Rio’s face.

“Plus, I’m still getting used to the bro—“

“We’re getting you some water.”

“I—“

“No.” Rio picked her up, carrying her. “I’m not taking any protests.”

Agatha sighed, nuzzling into Rio. “You take great care of me.”

“I try my best.”

“I don’t deserve this—.”

“Don’t say that!” Rio held her tighter. “You deserve far more than I can give you.”

“You’ve given me everything.”

“It’s not enough. It never will be.”

“It’s enough for me.”

Rio planted a kiss on Agatha’s forehead before placing her on the ground next to a pond. She bent the water, purifying it before making a glass and putting it in. Agatha swooned, watching the green light in her fingertips move with the water.

“You look very beautiful when you’re using your magick,” Agatha noted as she took the glass, sipping it.

Rio couldn’t help but blush, though she still didn’t know how Agatha managed to redden her cheeks oh so easily. “I— thank you.”

They sat by the pond for a while, Rio switching back and forth between watching Agatha and watching their surroundings. Sure, it had been a while since anything happened, but Rio couldn't help but worry. She would've watched their surroundings and their surroundings only, but the way the sun hit Agatha's face made her irresistible to look at. Her ocean-blue eyes reflected the golden light, and her body relaxed in the warmth. Rio knew Agatha had been deprived of warmth when she was a kid, but seeing her ease into it now… She couldn’t make herself look away. Agatha noticed her staring.

“Is there something on my fa—“

Rio kissed her. Agatha, once she had realized, kissed her back.

“What was that for?” Agatha chuckled as she pulled away slightly, making sure their foreheads remained together.

“I love you.”

“…I love you, too?”

Rio chuckled before placing two of her fingers under her chin, pulling her in for another kiss.
