“I found it!” Agatha slammed the book in front of Rio, startling her and making her spill a few drops of her tea.
Rio put her tea down, pulling the book closer. “Found what?”
“My magick. I know why it’s weird.”
Rio sighed, putting her hand on Agatha’s. “Honey, um… remember the last time you said that?”
Agatha sat down. “I know, but I really do think this is it! And I can fix it!”
“I just don’t want you to be disappointed again.”
“No, you’ll see! It makes so much sense! I just need you to help me with something.”
“Anything.”
“Great!”
—
“When I said anything, this is not what I meant!”
“Look, you’re the only formidable fighting opponent I have and I don’t think throwing random spells on very flammable grassis a good idea. You can block them. Plus, it’ll be fun.”
“Fun? Sweetheart, we need to get you a dictionary. How would this even help?”
“I think because I took other witches’ powers, I—it’s too much for me to handle. If I find an outlet —this— it’ll take over less. I think.”
Rio paused, thinking over what Agatha said. “I guess it makes sense…”
“C’mon.” Agatha took a few slow steps to cover the distance between her and Rio so that their faces were inches apart. “Remember how fun it was to shoot at me?”
“Until you got hurt!”
“Please.” Agatha waved her hand dismissively. “You think you’d have stood a chance against me if I tried to block you?”
“Darling.” Rio put her hands on Agatha’s arms. “I’m a cosmic immortal being. I’m literally Death. There’s no way you beat me.”
Agatha shrugged before whispering into Rio’s ear, “Sounds like someone’s scared.”
Rio scoffed. “Fine. Just to prove this is a bad idea.” Rio walked to the other end of their garden, hands at the ready.
“Good luck,” Agatha smirked before lunging at Rio.
Rio slid out of the way, simply blocking Agatha’s attacks.
“C’mon, don’t be shy!”
Rio shook her head with a smile before sending a blast in Agatha’s direction. Agatha blocked it, planting her feet as she got thrown back. She returned with a purple blast, knocking Rio to the ground. She took her opportunity to jump on her, trying to blast her. Rio blocked, pushing Agatha’s hand back up.
“This is fun.” Rio threw Agatha back, though she landed on her feet.
“Told ya.” Agatha blasted her again, making Rio stumble.
Rio returned the shot, but Agatha took it and sent it back, making her fall to the ground. Rio opened her eyes to find Agatha standing over her, her face mere inches away.
“Is this a bad time to say I told you so?”
The words came out in a whisper, accompanied by a smirk that crinkled the corner of her ocean-blue eyes. Rio stared into them for a few moments before pulling her in for a long, passionate kiss. Agatha slipped her hand under Rio’s dress before slipping it off. Rio did the same, refusing to let go of her lips. She let the flesh melt away, revealing her true form as their bodies brushed against each other.

“Okay, so,” Agatha placed her brooch on the desk, startling Rio, and making her spill her tea. “I found it.”
“Didn’t we already do this? Like the exact same thing?”
Agatha chuckled. “Just ask me what I found, cupcake.”
“Fine, what did you find?”
“I can use this as an outlet for my magic.” Agatha tapped her nails on the brooch.
Rio put down her tea, none of Agatha’s excitement on her face. “Oh.“
“I can just use this, and—“ Agatha stopped when she noticed Rio was upset. “What’s wrong?”
Rio’s eyes widened, realizing she wasn’t hiding it. “Oh, uh, nothing, I just—“ She sighed. “This past week has been… fun. I don’t want it to stop.”
Agatha chuckled. “Oh, you think we’re gonna stop our little brawls that easily?”
“But we don’t need it anymore.”
Agatha shrugged. “So? We can still do it. Get it? Do it?”
Rio flicked her fingers on Agatha’s forehead. “You’re cheesy.”
“...Is that a no?”
Rio shook her head with a smile as she got up, her hand tracing over Agatha's arm as she walked out. “Just get your ass outside, Harkness.”
