Rio came home after a long day, letting herself fall face-first onto the bed.

Agatha sat down next to her, stroking her hair. “I take it you don’t wanna… you know.”

“Just give me an hour or so.”

“That’s fine. We don’t have to at all if you don’t wanna.” She paused. “I have something we can do instead.”

Rio turned her head, finally meeting the opal-blue eyes she adored. “Like what?”

Agatha smiled. “I’ll be right back.”

“Agatha—“

But she had already vanished. Rio sat up, waiting for her to come back. She swung her legs back and forth, whistling.

Agatha smiled when she came back, watching Rio. “I love you.”

Rio narrowed her eyes. “…Love you too?”

Agatha held up a small vile and brush.

“What is that?”

“Nail polish.”

“What?”

“It’s paint for your nails.”

Rio’s face lit up. “You can paint your nails?”

“Well, yeah. C’mon, let’s see how you like it.”

Rio giggled as Agatha sat on the edge of the bed, across from her.

“You have to stay still, okay? If it gets on your skin, trying to get it off’s a pain in the ass.”

Rio nodded excitedly before Agatha dipped the brush into the vial, then put it on her nail, staining it black.

“It kinda tickles.”

Agatha scoffed in amusement. “Does it now?”

Rio admired Agatha working, gritting her teeth when she got close to the edge, smiling when it was easy… Her movements were so smooth and effortless, almost like how they were when they went on their first picnic.

“That’s the first coat done,” Agatha said before chanting, making the nail polish dry before putting on a second coat.

“I like watching you work.”

“Why’s that?”

Rio shrugged. “I just do.”

Agatha smiled as she finished the second coat and made it dry. “There. All done. What do you think?”

Rio put her hand up, inspecting the black paint on her nails. “I love the color.”

“Suits you.”

Rio smiled before she closed her eyes and chanted, a wave of green light covering her hand.

“What was that for?”

“I froze it in time. It’ll never wash away now.”

Agatha smiled. “So you like it?”

“No. I love it.”

Agatha shook her head with a smile before Rio kissed her, not gentle, but raw, full of pure love.

Rio pulled away, still feeling the warmth of Agatha’s face on hers. “Do you still wanna…”

“As long as you do.”

Rio smiled as she went in for another kiss.
