Rio finally drifted off to sleep, the images she had longed to see all day forming. It had been a long day, far too long. She just wanted to sleep, Agatha next to her. The dreams of her and Agatha in the cottage started to play.

Before Agatha shook her awake. “Babe, wake up.”

Rio shot up, her eyes wide open, tracing over Agatha's face. “What’s wrong?”

“Everything’s okay, just—“

“Then I’m asleep.” She shut her eyes, lying back down.

Agatha shook her head with a smile before carrying Rio down the stairs.

“Agatha, what the fuck?” Rio nuzzled into Agatha, trying to go back to sleep.

“You’ll see.”

Agatha flicked her finger, opening the door and stepping outside while making sure Rio didn’t hit her head on the doorway.

“Where are we going? It’s the middle of the night.”

Agatha placed Rio on the ground. “Look up.”

Rio rubbed her eyes as she looked up, then saw why Agatha dragged her out. “Holy shit.”

“Now you see.” Agatha smiled, looking at the Aurora Borealis.

“They’re not supposed to be visible here,” Rio said, watching the lights dance in the sky.

“Yeah, that’s why I woke you up.”

Rio paused, turning to Agatha. “Why were you awake?”

Agatha hesitated. “Uh…I… Look, pretty lights!”

Rio got up, dusting the dirt off her hands before taking Agatha’s. “What did we say about sleep?”

Agatha sighed, then muttered, “That I’d get a reasonable amount of it.”

“And are you getting a reasonable amount of it?”

“Yes.”

Rio waited.

“No.”

“We’re going back to bed.”

“But the lights!”

Rio paused, looking at the lights, then back at Agatha, pointing her finger at her. “This is the last night I’m letting you off, Harkness. Then, you’re going to bed.”

Agatha chuckled, sitting on the ground and patting the grass. Rio shook her head with a smile as she sat down next to her, then they both turned to the lights.

“They’re really pretty.”

Agatha watched the lights reflect on Rio’s eyes. “They really are.”

Agatha placed her head on Rio’s shoulder, and they spent the rest of the night watching the rays of light cover the whole sky.
