How My Poor Heart Aches, With Every Step You Take (Catnap ❤️ Dogday)
Dogday cannot recall how long he was just staring at his phone, staring at his own text message, waiting for Catnap to reply. After about two hours of waiting, Catnap had simply replied to a link to twitch, specifically to Catnap's twitch account. He had stopped streaming ever since Dogdays' fans had found him and tanked his reputation, making him quit altogether. So seeing this link is quite the surprise. Dogday clicked on it and saw that Catnap had just started a new stream about a year since his last one.
Dogday opened the link to see Catnap streaming, with his usual waiting screen of him laying down on a cat bed while flicking through a book. The title of the stream was simply called "Waiting For Dogday". The viewer count showed about 1500 viewers, a fraction compared to the hundreds of thousands he would get back in his prime. The chat also had only a few messages, mostly questions on if Catnap was back to streaming or remarks on Catnap streaming again. A moment after joining and reading chat messages, Dogday finally decided to type something in chat. "Are you there Catnap?" He simply said. After a short while, some shuffling of things banging together can be heard when the feed suddenly cut to Catnap, turning off the waiting screen as he adjusts the camera.
After checking if he was focused in the camera, he pulled his microphone closer to his mouth and started talking. "Hello everyone. Thank you all for coming, especially Dogday here. Now I'm gonna answer whatever question Dogday gives me to the best of my ability. And if the answer doesn't appease the viewers or Dogday..." Catnap trails off, as he pulls out a large revolver. "I'm gonna play some Russian roulette." Catnap said nonchalantly. He then opened the cylinder and slid one round into the chamber, he then spun it once and flicked it close. Then, he pulled out his phone and started to dial someone, and that someone was Dogday, as his phone started to vibrate. "I would rather hear your voice from a call because typing would take too long." Catnap said as Dogday was answering the phone. "Catnap you don't have to do this." Dogday said into his phone. The stream lag only picked up what he said through the phone a couple seconds later, with Catnap pulling the microphone closer to the phone speakers so that the viewers could hear.
"Oh, but I do. Because I feel like a piece of shit right now. So ask away." Catnap said while picking up the revolver. "Does the answer appease chat or Dogday?" Catnap said while looking straight into the camera. "Yes! Yes it does!" Dogday immediately said while most of the twitch chat said yes as well. "Eh, bored. Might as well." Catnap said when he suddenly pulled the trigger of the revolver. A metallic click could be heard from the revolver, denoting that that wasn't the loaded chamber. Catnap then opened the cylinder again and spun and shut it close. "What the hell Catnap!" Dogday shouted out, most of the twitch chat also freaking out about Catnap almost dying.
"I- I just (sigh)..." Catnap trails off for a moment before responding. "After I made that scene at our high school, and you sang that song with your black eye. I just noticed how much of a piece of shit I was back then." Catnap said while tears were forming in the corners of his eyes. "It's like I feel as though I deserve this." Catnap continued, now a few tears started trickling down his face. Dogday decides to take action now. "Catnap, I'm heading there right now. Is your address still the same?" Dogday said. "Yeah (sniff) whatever." He replied, wiping away the tears. Dogday then got up and started to go towards his car, Catnap moved a bit away from Dogdays' house, about a 30 minute drive. And that explains why Dogday was driving like a madman. Eventually he makes it to Catnap's house. The house itself was unassuming, likely for Catnap to not be found by Dogday. But anyway he got out of the car and headed for the door, immediately trying the doorknob. To Dogdays' surprise, it was open. He then yelled out for Catnap. "Catnap!? Are you here!?" He shouted out, waiting for a response.
"I'm still on the phone, you don't have to yell." Dogday jumps at Catnap's voice. Then immediately getting embarrassed as he pulls out his phone. "Umm, where are you?" Dogday shyly asks. "Second floor, second room on the right." Catnap replies. Dogday then immediately goes inside and shuts the door behind him. Then he quickly runs up the stairs and enters the room. Inside was Catnap's streaming setup and Catnap himself. "Hi Dogday." Catnap barely mutters out. "Give me the gun Catnap." Dogday says, walking up to him. Catnap then wordlessly gave him the revolver while looking away. Dogday sets it down on a nearby shelf and sits down with Catnap on the cat bed. After a short moment of not saying anything to each other. "What do you mean you deserve this?" Dogday speaks up first. And after a moment of thinking Catnap starts talking.
"Well like I said, Ever since I punched you and got kicked out, I stuck around. And when I heard you sing the song yourself I knew that I was a bad person. But I couldn't help it." Catnap turns to Dogday. "I- I- I really thought that what I did was the best for you, I swear. But I hurt you so much that... I guess I just loved you too much." When Catnap finished talking Dogday grabbed onto his shoulders, making Catnap jump a bit.
"Listen here Catnap, I forgive you. You don't have to beat yourself up anymore. When I heard your cover I understood how you feel, you were just obsessed. And I forgive you for it." Dogday replies with a bright smile. Upon hearing this Catnap begins to audibly cry as Dogday gives him a hug. As Catnap cries on Dogdays' shoulder, Dogday comforts him. "It's okay kitty, let it all out." Dogday says. After a while Catnap calms down. "You know I don't deserve you Dogday." Catnap says while pulling away. Dogday gets surprised by this and gets him a bit red.
"You deserve to be loved, Catnap. Same with me." Dogday replies. "When you sent that song I got reminded of how good you were at singing, and how we used to sing along to songs. You still remember the first song we sung together?" Dogday said to Catnap, looking him in the eyes while smiling. "Yeah, Every Breath You Take right?" Catnap replies, a bit confused. Dogday then pulls out his phone and finds the song and plays it. The instrumental version of course. "Sing it with me? I'd love for us to sing together again." Dogday says to Catnap, now he turned a bit red. But he slowly nodded and took a deep breath.
"Every breath you take. And every move you make. Every bond you break. Every step you take. I'll be watching you."
Catnap sings like he always does. Bringing a large smile to Dogday as his turn to sing comes after.
"Every single day. And every word you say. Every game you play. Every night you stay. I'll be watching you."
Dogdays' singing was higher and brighter than Catnap, but Catnap's voice was soft and tender.
"Oh, can't you see. You belong to me?. How my poor heart aches. With every step you take?"
"Every move you make. And every vow you break. Every smile you fake. Every claim you stake. I'll be watching you."
The two continue to alternate between them. but with the chorus coming they were gonna sing together, in synch.
"Since you've gone, I've been lost without a trace. I dream at night, I can only see your face. I look around, but it's you I can't replace. I feel so cold, and I long for your embrace. I keep crying, baby, baby please."
The two then held each others hands while looking into each others eyes. Then on this line of the song till its end, they start alternating their voices on each line.
"Oh, can't you see. You belong to me?. How my poor heart aches. With every step you take?
Every move you make. every vow you break. Every smile you fake. Every claim you stake. I'll be watching you. Every move you make. Every step you take. I'll be watching you."
Then on the next part, Catnap took over the main vocals while Dogday sung the adlibs.
"I'll be watching you. (Every breath you take) (Every move you make) (Every bond you break) (Every step you take) I'll be watching you. (Every breath you take) (Every move you make) (Every bond you break) (Every step you take) I'll be watching you. (Every breath you take) (Every move you make) (Every bond you break) (Every step you take) I'll be watching you. (Every single day) (Every word you say) (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you. (Every single day) (Every word you say) (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you. (Every single day) (Every word you say) (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you. (Every single day) (Every word you say) (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you"
On that final note sung. The two get their faces closer to each other as they share a deep and tender kiss. The two then pull away, deep red on their faces. "I love you Catnap." Dogday speaks up while cupping Catnap's cheek. "I love you too Dogday." Catnap replies. They were about to go in for another kiss until Catnap remembers something and pulls away. "What's wrong?" Dogday says confused. "I forgot to turn off my stream." Catnap quickly says while turning to look at his setup with a terrified look. Dogday does the same. And of course, the stream is still going and now over 200,000 people have joined in and saw them sing with each other and kiss each other.
