Your Biggest Fan....Catnap (Catnap x Dogday)

It was just like a normal day like any other in Dogday's house. Lounging around, finding ways to get inspired with writing new songs, reminiscing, lot's of important musician stuff. But this one day when Dogday decided to check his P.O box. He checks it from time to time, because sometimes a fan writing a letter or sending a gift could be the make or break to a new song. Usually he'd get a whole load of stuff and this time was no different, there was a reason why he decided to have his P.O box its own storage container...
...
...
After opening many gifts and reading many letters, Dogday was relieved to know he had only one box left. Until that relief turned to horror, because the box was from Catnap. The box itself was unassuming, just a small to medium sized normal box. But Dogday was obviously very anxious on what's inside, so he opened it very carefully. And Inside was something he didn't expect, but he was now confused more than anything. Inside the box were a few things, a USB stick and Catnap's moon amulet. The necklace itself was a gift from Dogday, which in turn made Catnap to get a sun amulet for Dogday. Seeing the amulet made Dogday even more anxious on what was on the USB stick, but pushing forward, he decided to plug it into his laptop.

There were only two files on the USB, a notepad text labelled 'READ ME FIRST' and a MP3 file labelled 'LISTEN TO ME SECOND'. Dogday decided to open and read the text file first. It read:

'Listen Dogday. I know you probably will never know why, nor understand why I am so manipulative, but I really cannot put it into words on how I feel. But since you're a musician, maybe you can decipher the meaning of the song. And what it means to me. Also, once you've listened to it, I'm gonna message you in a few days.

P.S I haven't sang in a while, so sorry if I don't sound good.'

When Dogday finished reading he relaxed a bit. It was just a song that Catnap sung, but what did Catnap mean by message in a few days? Considering when this was sent, a few days could mean tomorrow or a few minutes from now. But pushing that aside, Dogday decided to put on his headphones and play the song. Immediately he recognized the instrumental track of "Stan".

"My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all. The morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all. And even if I could it'd all be gray, but your picture on my wall. It reminds me, that it's not so bad, it's not so bad."

Of course, It was Catnap covering Stan. As Dogday thinks to himself, he remembers how nice Catnap's singing voice sounded. Whenever Dogday would start practicing with singing, Catnap would join in. He even remembers the first song that they sung together, it was "Every Breath You Take".

"My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all. The morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all. And even if I could it'd all be gray, but your picture on my wall. It reminds me, that it's not so bad, it's not so bad."

Dogday continued listening. His mind piecing together whatever message Catnap means to give him.

"Dear Dogday, I wrote you but you still ain't calling

I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom

I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not've got 'em

There probably was a problem at the post office or something

Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em

But anyways; fuck it, what's been up? Man, how's your daughter?

My girlfriend's pregnant, too, I'm bout to be a father

If I have a daughter, guess what I'mma call her?

I'mma name her Bonnie

I read about your Uncle Ronnie, too, I'm sorry

I had a friend kill himself over some bitch who didn't want him

I know you probably hear this every day, but I'm your biggest fan

I even got the underground shit that you did with Skam

I got a room full of your posters and your pictures, man

I like the shit you did with Rawkus, too, that shit was phat

Anyways, I hope you get this, man, hit me back

Just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan

This is Catnap."

"My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all. The morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all. And even if I could it'd all be gray, but your picture on my wall. It reminds me, that it's not so bad, it's not so bad."

While the chorus plays again, Dogday smiles at Catnap's perfect enunciation. This was a trait that Dogday wishes he had, since he always slobbers and slurs his words with how much spit his mouth makes. To which when Catnap was found by his fans, he wasn't surprised to see that Catnap was making his living reading books while streaming.

"Dear Dogday, you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance

I ain't mad - I just think it's fucked up you don't answer fans

If you didn't wanna talk to me outside your concert

You didn't have to, but you could've signed an autograph for Matthew

That's my little brother man, he's only six years old

We waited in the blistering cold for you

For four hours and you just said, "No"

That's pretty shitty man - you're like his fucking idol

He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do

I ain't that mad though, I just don't like being lied to

Remember when we met in Denver - you said if I'd write you

You would write back - see I'm just like you in a way

I never knew my father neither

He used to always cheat on my mom and beat her

I can relate to what you're saying in your songs

So when I have a shitty day, I drift away and put 'em on

'Cause I don't really got shit else so that shit helps when I'm depressed

I even got a tattoo of your name across the chest

Sometimes I even cut myself to see how much it bleeds

It's like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush for me

See everything you say is real, and I respect you 'cause you tell it

My girlfriend's jealous 'cause I talk about you 24/7

But she don't know you like I know you Dogday, no one does

She don't know what it was like for people like us growing up

You gotta call me man, I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose

Sincerely yours, Catnap

P.S.
We should be together, too"

"My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all. The morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all. And even if I could it'd all be gray, but your picture on my wall. It reminds me, that it's not so bad, it's not so bad."

Dogday was slowly piecing things together. The main message of the song is about Stan the obsessive fan. And since Stan's name and Eminem's is being replaced by Catnap and Dogday then he's calling himself obsessive. He's calling himself the obsessive fan. Dogday then wonders how much of the song is true for Catnap, did he actually listen to his music after they broke? Did he cut himself? Dogday only had the last bit of the song to analyse, and with the chorus wrapping up, he focused and concentrated.

"Dear Mister I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,

This'll be the last package I ever send your ass!

It's been six months and still no word. I don't deserve it?!

I know you got my last two letters;

I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect!

So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it!

I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway!

Hey Dogday, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?!

You know the song by Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight"!

About that guy who could've saved that other guy from drowning!

But didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a show he found him?!

That's kinda how this is, you could've rescued me from drowning!

Now it's too late. I'm on a thousand downers now, I'm drowsy!

And all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call!

I hope you know I ripped all of your pictures off the wall!

I loved you, Slim, we could've been together, think about it!

You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it!

And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you scream about it!

I hope your conscience eats at you and you can't breathe without me!

See, Dogday,—shut up bitch! I'm trying to talk!

Hey, Dogday, that's my girlfriend screaming in the trunk,!

But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up. See, I ain't like you!

'Cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die, too!

Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now!

Oh shit, I forgot, how am I supposed to send this shit out!?"

Dogday's heart dropped hearing Catnap basically scream those lyrics. Catnap wasn't even singing anymore, it seemed like all the emotion that he felt had come bursting out and Dogday could even hear some faint crying after the stanza, like Catnap moved away from the microphone so that he couldn't be heard crying. But if the message of the singing was true, then Catnap might take his own life?

Then with one final repeat of the chorus, the song ends with only a few words.

"You've yet to reply Slim, because Stan hasn't killed himself yet."

When the song ended, Dogday took a moment to process those words. When he did, he immediately opened his phone and texted Catnap, he still had his number saved after all. Then Dogday started frantically typing.

"Hey Catnap, I just listened to what you sent me and I really missed your singing! But I really hope you're not planning on doing anything drastic, so call me or reply! I'm always available for a talk!"

Dogday can see that Catnap read his message, but he has yet to reply.
