Maybe I'm Just Dumb? (Catnap x Dogday)
"I really am dumb and naive aren't I." Said Dogday to his friends. He had been in a relationship woth Catnap for a while, but he didn't think it was a toxic one. Thankfully his friends Kickin Chikin, Bubba Bubbaphant, and Bobby Bearhug are there to tell him about it. "The fact that he lied to you that we're too busy to hang out is bad enough. The fact that he's also manipulating you to not see your family is worse!" Bobby said. "God, he's the worst." Kickin added, while everyone nodded.
"Okay well, I have a carnival date with Catnap tomorrow. I'll confront him about it then." Dogday replied. Everyone then got very happy, knowing that Dogday will be able to get himself out of this relationship.
It was already evening when, while on the way back home, Dogday thinks to himself on what he should say to Catnap. Should he just break up with him? Dogday was very lonely for a long time because Catnap kept lying to him about his family and his friends not being able to see him, and vice versa. Catnap caused him a lot of pain, but Catnap was there for him. To mend his wounds that he had caused. So it was all definitely a lie just for him to get dependant on Catnap. "I guess I should've known that this wasn't love, that he didn't love me." Dogday ssid to himself out loud.
Once he got back home, Catnap showered him with love. And Dogday couldn't believe that this person who he loves most, who loves him most, is not good for him. "Oh Dogday, you took so long on the groceries that I got so worried!" He said with a pouty sounding voice. "Yeah I missed you too." Dogday said with a fraction of the enthusiasm, his expression unchanging. After some dinner and washing eachother in the shower, they wen to their bedroom to sleep together, and for the first time in their relationship, Dogday did not reciprocate Catnap's cuddles, saying an excuse that he just wasn't feeling it.
The next day, after a nice sleep, Dogday was not as warm and tender as usual. Catnap noticing this, had ignored him and focused on his own breakfast and left Dogday to his devices. Dogday was testing Catnap on how he would act around him if he changed suddenly, but with Catnap ignoring him, he started to break down in tears. The day went on for an eternity, waiting for the time that the both of them van finally go to this little pop-up carnival so that Dogday could finally end things with him.
When the time finally arrived, Dogday had planned to confront him and break up after everything was said and done. But somehow, Dogday had enjoyed his time with Catnap in the carnival, spending time with him, laughing with him, feeling an ocean's worth of passion and love between them. Dogday was conflicted, should he trust his friends or Catnap? He decided to confront him now while on a ride, It was one specific ride which was a variation of a ferris wheel. Where instead of it being slow, it slowly got faster and faster. They were sitting next to eachother in the little cabins, and while Dogday was pretty scared, Catnap calmed him down perfectly. "Hey, hey, focus on me. Not anything else but me." Catnap said to Dogday while making his face look towards him.
Dogday complied, even though he wanted to confront him, he was still really scared, so he took refuge in Catnap's words and his chest, hiding himself inside of it. When the ride was over, Dogday was still clutching Catnap, making a few people giggle at the sight. They decided to go to a more secluded location, the pier which the carnival was placed on. Once they got to the docks, they leaned over the metal railing to talk with eachother, watching the golden sunset. "I could feel your heartbeat from you burying yourself in my chest." Catnap replied. "Listen Catnap. I-" "Hey, you don't need to say anything sunshine. I already know." Catnap said, interrupting Dogday. "W-wuh- how?" Dogday stammered out.
"Don't listen to your friends, they're just jealous of us. That's why I keep lying to them." Catnap said while cupping his cheek. "Well, what about my family? You lied to them too?" Dogday quickly replied. "You know they won't like us being together. You said it yourself. 'We should see eachother in secret! So that way my family won't find out!' Those were your exact words." Catnap said, mimicking his voice. Dogday didn't reply after that. Catnap then cupped both of his cheeks with his hands. "Don't worry sunshine. I'm not mad at you, far from it. Now give me a little kiss." Catnap said while leaning in towards his face.
Dogday complied. What followed was a beautiful moment, to Catnap at least, of Catnap getting what he wanted. Which was Dogday's everything, while Dogday had fully become dependant on Catnap now. But just then, the duo had heard some shouting come from the other side of the pier, behind Catnap.
"I found them! They're over here!" Dogday looked over and the voice was Hoppy Hopscotch, behind her was Kickin and Bobby, while Bobby was on a phonecall with someone. "Come on, let's go." Catnap said to Dogday as he started pulling him in the opposite direction, but were stopped by Hoppy pulling Dogday back towards her, eventually the whole group was here. "Let go of him!!" Catnap shouted at Hoppy. "No YOU let go! Dogday doesn't believe you!" Hoppy shouted back. "Stop it you guys!" Shouted Bobby from behind Hoppy.
"Enough!!!" Shouted Dogday, making Hoppy let go, Catnap didn't let go but Dogday yanked his arm away. "How did you guys get here?" Dogday asked the group, they were silent for a moment. "Well..." Bobby spoke up. "I called everyone here to make sure you two had properly split up, so that we could cheer you up afterwards." Bobby shyly said, the rest of the critters looking at eachother while nodding. "See! What did I tell you! They're lying to you!" Catnap told Dogday. "You lied too." Dogday replied. "If they were lying to me then why didn't you say that they were? You didn't tell my family that I was okay? You didn't tell me that my family was looking for me?! You lied Catnap!!" Dogday yelled at him. Catnap had an unchanging expression up to this point.
"Oh sunshine... Are you really gonna destroy our relationship all because I lied?" Catnap said to Dogday, wide eyed, with a terrifying expression. Dogday's legs were quivering and the rest of the critters were getting ready to grab Dogday and get him out of there. "Well if you're gonna threaten me like this. Then the answer is yes." Dogday replied while holding back tears. Catnap replied with a small smirk. "I'm living inside of your brain sunshine, the damage has been done. You can kiss my love goodbye." Catnap said while bumping into his shoulder, walking past the critters. Dogday fell on his knees and burst into tears.
