Month 9
An Addams can't kill another Addams but God did Wednesday wish that she could.
Her mother and father had organised a family reunion in celebration for the impending arrival of their first grandchild, which meant she was forced to endure the endless congratulations as if the creation and conception of her future child had somehow earned a congratulations.
They hadn't even had sex, it was an unforeseen consequence of actions that were perpetrated in the heat of the moment.
They warranted no congratulations, Enid deserved them, of course, she was the one forced into the soul sucking job of carrying the child until it was expelled. She deserved more than congratulations for that.
Enid had never seen her brothers in suits before, they never went anyway to require them, the Sinclair family didn't do black tie events, or if they had Enid hadn't been invited, ostracised for her differences.
But seeing them, all lines up, in tuxedos of all things simply awaiting to escort her to the ballroom, it was hard not to cry.
Especially with all of the now overwhelming pregnancy hormones.
"You all look great." Remus smiled wrapping his sister in a tight hug, a hug that soon became a groups hug.
"And you look mesmerising, Pup." Enid sniffled,
"Really I feel fat." Her brother tired not to laugh, really they tried but, looking down at the baby bump they couldn't.
"Well you're carrying precious cargo Pup, and you should how him off proudly." Enid quirked a brow,
"Him?" Remus nodded with a grunt,
"Of course you're carrying my first nephew in there." Colin scoffed,
"She's carrying my niece actually." Tears were soon replaced with a large grin as she watched her brothers argue.
Y'know that one scene in beauty and the beast where they dance together, and both approach on either side of the stairs seeing each other for the first time?
Colin reckoned that this was what the pots and pans were all feeling as he watched Wednesday and Enid stare at one another.
Wednesday approached first holding a hand out for Enid, "Shall we Cara Mia?"
Enid smiled, "Of course my Prince."
For once in the company of a family he knew truly valued him he wasn't afraid to allow the tears fall.
Morticia smiled wrapping her arms around his shoulders wiping away the tears,
"We've got you Colin, all of you."
As expected both Wednesday and Enid received a great many congratulations, although Wednesday tried her best to direct all praise to Enid the walking incubator that housed their child. She had no part in the ordeal and felt that as such she deserved no praise.
"Wednesday is that..?" She trailed off staring at a large figure with wide eyes,
"Cousin Steve, he's the patriarch of the Addams family pack, or the Crescent Wolf Pack, as they've taken to styling themselves in recent years." Enid nodded awestruck,
"Wednesdays they're like the biggest deal in the werewolf world, with like over a thousand pack members, your related to them?" Wednesday nodded,
"Of course their all Addams' or derivative's of the family line, we have the Addams-Cabot's, the North Atlantic Pack, the Addams-Williams, the South Atlantic Pack, their all apart of the family." Enid was nearly vibrating,
"Oh my God Wednesday your family is like Werewolf royalty." Wednesday smirked, her arms encircling Enid's waist,
"Which makes you werewolf royalty Cara mia."
Everything was going so well, but Murphy's law dictates it could continue like it.
Remus noticed first he could smell them, and then Colin, Max, William, Danny, Chris and Nikolai.
They were all tense understandably so as they saw the advancing crowd that stormed their way toward the ballroom through the backyard.
Enid noticed her brother’s tense posture immediately wrinkling her nose at the anxiety that exuded all seven of them.
“Rem what’s wrong?” Remus coughed uncomfortably placing his champagne flute down in a nearby table.
“Lance and the rest of the pack are here.” Wednesday guessed quickly what was about to happen pulling Steve aside with a stone faced expression.
“Whatever you have to do, protect Enid and the baby.” Steve nodded, squeezing his younger cousins shoulder,
“Of course Wednesday they’re pack now, which means their family and Addams’ protect their own, always.”
As the patriarch Lance was connected with the rest of the pack on a deeper subconscious level, which meant at the mere mention of conflict all were prepared.
Steve grabbed Natasha and Yelena from their conversations with various other family members levelling them with look. One that Natasha immediately understood,
“What do you need from us?” Steve’s eyes glanced at the shadowy figures gaining on the home,
“Prepare the pack, they’re here for Enid and the boys, and we will not let them take them, am I understood.” Natasha nodded,
“Of course, Peggy and I will take the South Atlantic’s and approach from the rear, Yelena will prepare the North Atlantic’s they’ll protect Enid and the boys you and the crescents will meet them outright.”
None knew what to expect, but what they did know is that a foreign pack was encroaching on their land and territory and that was not acceptable. Especially when they had a pregnant pack member in their midsts.
This would be resolved and if necessary, they would fight, and they had never to date lost a fight.
“Wednesday what’s going on?” Wednesday tugged Enid’s hand pulling them into the family room.
“You’re well that sorry excuse for a pack that you considered family for 15 years is coming into enemy territory, and I refuse to allow them to take you or your brothers from us. Not when…,” She hesitated looking at Enid’s visible bump.
“Not when you’re carrying our child.” Enid smiled, seeing a side of Wednesday that she hadn’t yet had the pleasure of being personally acquainted with yet, edging closer to Wednesday, taking one of her hands to place in on the bump.
“Thank you.” Wednesday nodded pressing a short kiss to Enid’s forehead,
“Of course.”
