What news?
Remus
Remus had been awake since early in the morning. He had a crazy idea during the night and had to start working on it straight away. So he crept down to the workshop as quietly as possible so as not to wake his siblings from cabin 9. They would probably have understood. When a child of Hephaestus got something into his head, it wasn't so easy to suppress it. But Remus still wanted to be considerate of the others.
Whenever he worked in the workshop, he lost all sense of time. So it happened that one of his cabin mates suddenly entered the room.
‘Remus! Lily's upstairs outside the door. She's here to pick you up.’
Remus gives the boy a curt nod.
‘Thanks Arthur. I'll be right there.’
Arthur leans against the doorframe and adjusts his glasses. Although he is the Head Counsellor of the cabin, he has a curious and boyish air about him.
‘I would hurry. She seemed quite impatient.’
Remus rolls his eyes as he carefully sets his latest project aside. Lily Evans was one of his best friends. They had known each other for a long time, having both been sent to camp at a very young age.
After making sure that everything in the workshop was in its rightful place, he made his way upstairs. Lily stood at the door of the cabin, arms crossed in front of her chest and her fiery red hair in a loose bun.
‘It's about time! Haven't you heard the news?’
Remus looks at her, frowning.
‘What news?’
Lily shakes her head reprovingly as she grabs his arm and pulls him along.
‘You've been in the shop again, haven't you?’
Remus slumps his shoulders guiltily. It's not the first time he's missed something because he was working too long.
‘So, you want to tell me what it's about now?’
Lily looks at him with a studious gaze. As if he were a riddle she could solve. But he has got used to it. For other campers, the daughter of Athena might seem intimidating, but he's getting to know his friend very well. Not that Lily wasn't intimidating. She could be scary when she put her mind to it. He wasn't prepared for what she was about to tell him, though.
‘Regulus Black is coming to Camp Half-Blood’
He looks at her, confused.
‘Regulus... Black? You mean like-’
‘Yes,’ she interrupts him, ’like Sirius Black. Regulus is his younger brother.’
Remus' eyes widen as he realises what that means.
‘You mean the brother he left years ago?’
Lily nods.
‘That's the one.’
Suddenly Remus feels guilty. If he had realised what was going on, he could have spoken to Sirius. He must have been nervous about seeing his brother again. Lily swats his head, snapping him out of his thoughts.
‘Stop blaming yourself. Sirius will be fine, he's got James. But maybe you could visit him later. I'm sure he'll be thrilled. ’
She flashes him a grin at that last part and winks at him. Remus turns away so she can't see the blush, spreading on his face.
